This isn’t a take a QB in the first. I only do it if i love the QB. However the eagles picks with how Miami’s schedule is shaping up, colts schedule and eagles schedule could very likely 10-20 range. There might be the defensive players everyone loves in that range and there might not. Or even the best players on the board arent just automatically going to be a defensive player at each one of those picks.

The point was showing he has 21% of his yards total are inflated/hallow stats. Just like kirk cousins has shown over his 6 year career. If you want to eliminate all context about how he’s gotten to 7th in total yards for a QB that’s fine. Go ahead but you better not destroy kirk cousins anymore (not you but in general) if we are eliminating context then he is statistically top 10 QB for the last 6 years. But I’m betting all of us can unanimously agree he’s not a top 10 QB

I understand the point. However, we are discussing whole quarter garbage times like he wouldn’t get stats otherwise. It wouldn’t be 21% if the defense could stop anyone. His skill level falls somewhere between where he is now and where he would be without those yards. Which still isn’t good enough to be the QB of the future.

He would but they wouldn’t be nearly as much cause he wasn’t playing well until they got down 20+ and teams took their foot off the gas. That’s the reality. That’s why i don’t praise him for being 7th in total yards and pretend like he’s been fine. That’s the thing everyone one of us has killed kirk cousins for in the past

And 2.5 quarters of the raiders game. The defense sucks but he was awful in both of those games for the majority of the game until they got down 20+. Let’s not sugar coat it the defense stinks and he was awful in those 2 particular games

Nah.  I know that it means something... here's something for you to check out.   I didn't do an exhaustive list, but he's the top 10 total yardage leaders at QB ( I might have missed 1... I started with the passing yards and then added the rushing to it.). 

 

You might notice something about the W-L record of the rest of the list of the top 10. 

You go ahead and find 1 of those guys in the top 10 that's got even 10% of those stats during garbage time.   Time's yours.

Nope.  

Here's how it works:

Premise 1: Hurts has a lot of total yards. 
Premise 2: Total yards by a QB is a reasonable way to measure a QB's effectiveness.

Conclusion: Hurts ranks in the top 10 in total yards, therefore he's a top 10 QB in effectiveness.

 

This argument that the total yards is an effective measure is a poor one, because the stats can (and have been) inflated by garbage time.  Hurts' play can't be propped up by his total number of yards and used to defend his lack of field vision, lack of pocket presence, etc. to say that he's playing 'well'.  He's leaving a lot of plays out there, but when the defenses back off... he manages to make a few more.

No, but NFL teams play prevent defense with big leads, and that defense makes it easier for an offense to complete short passes and move the ball.

The proper comparison is young QBs on losing teams. Do some research and get back to us.

Or maybe, how about, let's just get rid of black altogether as an option. It's time for them to change the uniforms and they should really look at a wholesale change to the kelly greens in some form or fashion.

Never understood why they do that.  If you have a big lead then your defense must be doing something right.  Keep playing that way until the offense shows they can move the ball on you.
