I was particularly annoyed by the way they didn't even seem to notice that Goedert was speared in the head and only casually noted later on that he was out for the duration of the game. They never bothered to go back and show the hit.

That's on the director and the production guys in the truck. I agree with you and CE. Not a good job.

My favorite part of the broadcast was on Slays return, where they zoomed in so close you couldnt see anything around him, made it really suspenseful not knowing if he was about to get tackled or was running towards the locker room

DBs might not be great but they are far better than we’ve had for a few years.

Really nice to see Howard and Scott doing well. Some of you in here don’t like Scott but in my mind he’s an excellent change of pace back to come in mid year and add a spark for a stretch of games. He looks really fresh right now.

Maybe - The reality is that Reagor can play outside and be a threat that Ward cannot be.  I thought he was frustrated with himself on the run than the o-line but I will go back and watch it. y.  It was odd to me that he just seemed to stop rather than beat the defender to the outside.  He had a nice catch on a comeback route where he ran hard and got to the ball.  He created some separation on it.  I think it's not mental as much as learning to play receiver.

We know what Ward's ceiling is, and it isn't very high. Reagor is still an unknown, though he's trending in the wrong direction. We have a lot of other needs as well to address, and I'm fine with Reagor getting this year and next to improve. I'm far more interested in Reagor's floor (and potential rock bottom) and ceiling than I am with anything Greg Ward can do.

He doesnt have the greatest arm talent, but he's starting to get better in some areas of weakness, and as pointed out during the game, he got Sirianni in his face after the first red zone series where he bailed immediately with a zero blitz ... after that he stopped bailing out of the pocket so much.

He is definitely improving and the commitment to the rushing attack is helping him as well.  This team is built to build from the rushing game as the base.  Nothing great yet but it is coming together.  Gotta love what the young WRs are doing as well.

When the Eagles finished 7-9 a few years back it ended up being #14 where we drafted Barnett (yay?), so I figure 7-10 would be 13-15 range overall.

The Barnett pick was made with the selection that got from the Vikings for Bradford. It wasn't our own original pick.

Nice, especially the Ojabo grab in R2.  I do wonder how much he benefits playing across from Hutchison though.  I personally in that scenario would try for a Myjai Sanders at 26, and try to grab Pickett or Ridder in R2.  I'm so hot/cold on Strong.

Yeah, I rarely ever look at draftee's ages.  When someone said 26 I was shocked.  Glad to hear it isn't true.  He's the 2nd best DT in the draft.

Profootballnetwork has a write up about him:

https://www.profootballnetwork.com/david-ojabo-michigan-de-nfl-draft-scouting-report-2022/

They think he's working his way into the 1st Round.  He was born in Nigeria in 2000 then moved to Scotland in 2007.  Came to the US during his HS years and was on the track team and didn't start playing football until 2017.  So he's only been playing for 5 years.  In fact, this is his first full season of college football.  He was on the Michigan scout team in 2019 where he was named Scout Team Player Of The Year.  He played all 6 games in 2020, mostly on ST, and earned Academic All Big Ten Honours.  So he's both an athletic freak and smart.  He models his game after Chandler Jones.  Thedraftnetwork, when you do their mock, has him rated as a late 1st Round pick.

So a fairly raw player with a high ceiling.  It is a good point as to how much of his production is helped by having Hutchinson across from him.  Still, I'd be fine taking him with our last 1st Round pick (probably the Colts pick).

Another player I like is Minnesota RT Daniel Faalele:

https://www.profootballnetwork.com/daniel-faalele-minnesota-ot-nfl-draft-scouting-report-2022/

He's 6'9" 380 and like Mailata is a former rugby player from Australia.  Probably a bit stronger than Mailata, but not quite as athletic.  He also has that nasty edge on the field from playing rugby like Mailata has.  The difference is this kid is in his 3rd season of playing RT for Minnesota so he's ahead of the curve in his development.  Imagine Stoutland coaching him up the way he did Mailata and having these 2 behemoths as our OTs for the next decade.  Grab this kid now, let him work on his technique under Stoutland and be Lane's understudy.  He'll be ready to takeover in 2024, sooner if needed.

I forgot all about that; CLE had our #12 overall pick and shipped it to HOU so they could draft ..... Deshaun Watson!

Re-watched parts of the game.

I really like Dickerson.  The strength was always there, but he's now showing balance and control.  He is moving real well on combo blocks and in space.

Thinking a more powerful Herremans.

I could envision Mailata/Dickerson/Seumalo/TBD/Johnson in 2022.  Mailata and Dickerson together on the left for a while would be very cool.

Yeah, that was a weird angle.  I was wondering why they showed it like that, but it did make it sort of fun.  I was expecting him to get tackled, still expecting, still expecting, and then BOOM!  He's made it out of the maze and off to the races unimpeded.

Smith & Slay are Alphas.

Who was going to catch him?  The Broncos didn't have a WR on the field.  Just a bunch of fat guys.

Will Hernandez is a FA this year.  Imagine Hernandez and Dickerson flanking Seumalo if he is moved to center.

With that being said, I think Driscoll can be a solid guard.

True.  But Brooks' contract is a mess.  $19M cap hit in 2022.  $15M in dead money if he's released.  It wouldn't be a disaster if Brooks decided to stay healthy next year.  He's still pretty good.  Better than Driscoll.

so obviously you didn’t get the point. cousins has finish top 10 In stats for quarterbacks over the last six years. Similarly to what jalen hurts is doing feasting on bad teams, plays well for a game or two against good teams and then racks up hallow stats after the good team gets up 3 scores. Would you call him a top 10 Qb and parade him around as such knowing cousins has at least 2-3 games every year against good teams finds himself down significant amount of points cause he played like crap for most of the game til that point?

answer the question because if we are using your method where everything is cherry picked and doesn’t matter. He should easily be considered top 10 QB because we are now basing on stats that don’t paint the entire picture. And everyone knows in those particular games those were hollow meaningless stats because they did nothing to help the eagles win the game, the game was already decided and only looks impressive on a box score or fantasy football.

But it’s good to see your standards dropped from we want our players playing at a high-level throughout the entire game or most of the game but now is well at least we still played hard when they got down 3 scores. we should give them a participation trophy at the end of each game for playing hard for 60 entire minutes. Maybe the parents of the players can come in at half time and give them some cut up orange slices and Capri Suns and tell him all that matters is your played hard for 60 mins. Because apparently that’s all that matters once we get down 20-30 points is that we continue to play hard for the whole 60 minutes. F*** winning football games or being competitive for a majority of the game. No no no we don’t need that we need to just be happy they play hard for 60 minutes. I was unaware that our standards have become well at least we’re getting down by three scores we are participating hard until the final whistle.

So if we pull Jalen hurts in those games and put minshew into those games and I’m guessing he likely isn’t going to be like we’re down 27 and we aren’t coming back. I’m just not gonna play hard for the rest of the 20 minutes we have left. I’m also guessing if they did that minshew would then have those hallow meaningless stats

This entire post, and the Cousins discussion in general from last week, is somewhat funny given than he vastly outplayed Herbert on Sunday. Talk about really bad timing to pick a hill to die on.

I like Cousins, probably more than most, but he tends to wilt when the game is played under the lights.

By the same token I still expect the Rams to wilt as well; I don't see Matt Stafford going deep in the playoffs either.

Missing the point of my comments that started this conversation and so is @NCiggles to some extent.  He needs that slap.

I commented on how QBs seem to have trusted Ward.  I pointed out as you have that Reagor is not trending well. (Now I was pro Jefferson.  Said after Jeudy that I thought he was the most NFL ready WR last year and everyone knows I like Ward’s attitude and willingness to do what it takes.  I think that Watkins improvement this season was likely influenced by his working in the offseason with Ward and Hurts.  I think Smith has that same sort of approach to improving his game.). I commented during those  offseason workouts "where’s Hightower? Where’s Fulgham? Where’s JJAW? Where’s Reagor?  Now Hightower is on the PS, Fulgham is gone and only their draft selection capital supports Reagor and JJAW at this point and that is sliding away for JJAW.

I am passed waiting for Reagor to decide when he will put in effort.  I gave him the benefit of the doubt last season with no PS and his injuries. Time is up now.

So I proposed he needs to be slapped.  We have all seen this at work.  Carrot, carrot, carrot, stick.  The stick can take lots of approaches but one of the most impactful can be rewarding a co-employee for the action you want to see.

I doubt you will get any disagreement in here that athletically, Reagor beats Ward every time.  But what we don’t see is smart disciplined football IQ play.  We see plays where he isn’t participating full bore.  We don’t see him working on his catching.  We see lazy, entitled.  So reward the player that QBs trust, that runs good routes and catches in the high percentages with some of Reagor’s routes. Not because we expect Ward to blossom or gain size or athleticism.  Not at all.  Because we want to light a fire under Reagor. To force Reagor to see what Ward does that is lacking in Reagor’s approach.  Reagor either gets it or he is the flop that he seems trending to be.

They tried coddling him and it hasn’t worked.  Time for the stick.

Was just watching some of the game again and damn that throw to Watkins was perfect.

Won't kill him for it because his hands have been good, but what an absolute dime of a throw.

Agree with you on cousins but not stafford. He is a gamer and knows this is his shot at a super bowl

I'll certainly never cheer for Brady or Rodgers, or Dak -- so I hope you're right.

The best part of that is that it's two guys that both take their craft seriously, and can flip their brain to use what they know about their technique to try to emulate the other position.   Alphas?  Sure.  But, really a couple of workaholics who have fun while they work... and compete.

I think that Brooks has to be a post-June 1 cut/trade.  That kicks $9.5M to the 2023 cap, but frees up about $13.5M.   (granted, it only frees it up post-June 1, but that means that they'd have that money available to sign their rookies, and with 3 1st round picks... that will be expensive.

Not really.  We know who Cousins is.  And he's a guy who racks up stats but can't win.  One week doesn't make a career.
