I'm not sold on Wilson, like Murray, I think he may be the product of a scheme built to disguise his limits as a pocket QB, and of course, had a defense that made life easier.

Mahomes, check back in five years, elite is not just a couple good years but a decade of performance. Which is why Kurt Warner is tough to place, when healthy he was definitely elite, but just didn't stay healthy, had 3 elite seasons, then a checkered career until he finished with three very good seasons in Arizona.

Elite either is a limited group, or it loses meaning. Like brilliant, I hate when people use it in the context of bright, competent, etc. - either brilliant is exceptional or it has no meaning. Most QBs are not elite, and most people at the top of their profession are not brilliant.

Yes you are right mahomes winning an MVP in his first year as a starter (and probably would’ve won a Super Bowl that year if his defensive lineman didn’t jump off sides in the AFC championship game), winning a super bowl Mvp in his second year and getting to another super bowl in the 3 years he’s been a starter is clearly not elite. I forgot going to 3 consecutive afc title games.  so by your standards we have to wait until 2027. That’s ridiculous when he has been the best quarterback in game for three consecutive years. and in what’s considered a down year for him, he is still 2nd in the league in passing yards and 2nd touchdown passes.

and I wouldn’t say Kyler Murray is elite either. He has not done it at a high enough level consistently and he really hasn’t won anything.

OK eliminate the word elite from what I said. they had a Hall of Fame quarterbacks or great quarterbacks. Because all those teams besides the ravens had a great quarterback or a Hall of Fame quarterback for big chunks of the decade.

All time, Wilson is:

4th in QB rating

12th in completion percentage

29th in passing yards (will likely be top 15 by time he retires).

6th all time in INT %

17th in passing TDs

By the time he retires, he will undoubtedly be a top 10-15 QB  in NFL history

You continually make garbage ass takes.

Well yea but the defense he had tho

Norm Van Brocklin. He’s had enough starts to properly rank and him as a franchise QB.

I really need to rewatch the Super Bowl.   During the quarantine of 2020, I watched the whole 2017 season on GamePass.

@hputenis

had Chipotle for dinner. Regretting it so bad right now. Only got half a bottle of toilet bowl cleaner and it may not be enough

Where do they grade on the NFL scale, though?  Looks to me like McNabb was quite a ways ahead in a few categories:

McNabb 2000 -- 21st in comp. %, tied for 7th in TD passes, 12th in yardage

Hurts 2021 -- 29th in comp. %, tied for 17th in TD passes, 19th in yardage

Trying to compare raw numbers from separate eras isn't going to tell a whole lot.  Grading on the curve against the rest of the league is more relevant.

We’re on the same page with this. My point was saying Hurts has similar stats to McNabb through 14 starts isn’t an endorsement on Hurts’ play. It’s the opposite since he’s playing during the most prolific quarterback era in the history of the league and should have significantly better numbers.

Daniel Jeremiah on the Eagles upcoming draft plans

- Says the margin between Hurts and the 2022 QB draft prospects is not enough to justify moving on from Hurts.

- Says the Eagles accumulated these picks with the plan to trade for a veteran QB, he names Wilson/Rodgers.

- Says look for Eagles to draft Secondary, Defensive End, and Defensive Tackle.

Hopefully Hurts keeps the progress up and they can just spend those picks on aiding the massive rebuild that is going to be needed on defense.

I've never had repercussions from eating Chipotle - is that just a joke around since the E. coli thing?

Wilson;

ranking QBR, ANY/A

2012:  3/8

2013:  9/7

2014:  6/10

2015:  4/3

2016:  15/12

2017:  11/12

2018:  11/7

2019:  5/8

2020:  8/16

Wilson's QB rating is inflated b/c he holds the ball to make big plays, which results in higher yards per attempt but also more sacks, the YPA improves his rating, the sacks aren't counted.

His first five seasons he played behind a dominant defense, the two SB years they were #1 in both points and yards allowed.

Aaron Rodgers QBR ranking over that same time

2012: 6th

2013: 14th

2014: 2nd

2015: 14th

2016: 4th

2017: 7th

2018: 17th

2019: 20th

2020: 1st

just to point out Wilson has 6 top 10 finishes in that category. Rodgers has 5. Aaron Rodgers has two more top-five (two best seasons on here). But Aaron Rodgers also has the two worst seasons at 20th and 17th of the two.

also fun fact mahomes has finished 1st, 2nd and 2nd in his first three years. Just saying brady has never been top 2 for three consecutive years…. EVER!

You accumulate all those draft picks to trade for a veteran QB closer to his prime, not a veteran QB winding down his career.  I hate this plan so much.  Rebuild the core of this team.  Build this defense with blue chippers, not 6th rounders and UDFA.  Ugh.

Great veteran QB’s, close to their prime, are never available.  So that’s a moot point.  I don’t want us to throw our picks away for an old guy, either.

I know just ugh in general.

I would give a 1st this year and a conditional 1st next year but if they blow their wad and waste 3 1st round picks on either of these guys my excitement for this team will be at an all-time low.

Honestly are we really shocked that Howie and lurie would do something like that? You and I have only said this since last March that those two would try their best to pull something like that off. I don’t think either of those two quarterbacks would want to come here but it’s not gonna stop those two schmucks from trying

Can’t wait to go all in on Kirk Cousins.

All they care about is saying look what we did.  We were so smart to make moves to get picks and it got us A-Rod or Wilson without a care that the defense is a wreck, they have no cap space to even bring those guys in here and the window to win with them is minimal.

It's just their arrogant way of going about things that we as Eagles fans have to deal with now.

Frankly they’re not going to get either one of them cause neither will want to come here. But that doesn’t mean howie and lurie are not going try everything in their power to pull it off. Ridiculous as it maybe for a 33 and 38 year old QB.
