Need to see the details, but that seems high to me.

Happy he stays, but 7.5m average is not cheap.

Still.. happy he stays.

I think he's gone. Imo next one on the list is Sanders. I'm sure plenty will disagree

He’s still under contract next year, so it has time.

Next on my list would be Howard. And I know most will disagree, but I would like Nelson too if it’s not too expensive.

Howie really likes his 2018 class huh.

You're going to go nuts next year when they put Dillard at left tackle and move Mailata to right tackle to replace Lane Johnson, aren't you?

I’ve actually had that thought a lot lately.

What kind of return do you think we could get in trading Lane and Brooks?

Really confusing considering the number of CB they have brought in and continue to keep on the roster.

They traded for Josiah Scott, Kary Vincent and Tay Gowden.

Chachere is their best ST player and first CB off the bench and he was claimed.

I don’t care if they were only brought in for late round picks.  This is bad roster management.  They can’t keep them all. They are going to cut at least 2 guys they traded picks for.

Is Maddox as good as Robinson was in the slot? Not in my opinion. If so then absolutely, extend Maddox. I just don't see that and he doesn't bring much toughness or intimidation to the slot either. Maybe I'm missing something...

7.5 per year seems to be on the higher end but in fairness, Gannon sees him as one of the "main players” in his defensive schemes.   Plus, he would have likely gotten something close to that in the free agent market.  The deal makes sense, IMO

Hell of a draft class.

One of Vincent Jr. or Scott won't be on the roster next year. Wouldn't make since to keep two NCB backups.

Happy to see Maddox get his.

Now draft three studs on defense in RD1 next year and get this party started!

Idk.  Most fans wouldn’t even remember Robinson if it wasn’t for his huge play during the NFC Championship game.  That play is what got Robinson paid.

Now do Barnett

Have @HazletonEagle handle the negotiations.

Good for Maddox. Might look optically high, but guessing the non-guaranteed money at the end of the contract inflates the average annual value. Plus, will likely look cheap after this coming offseason.

The next target should be Hargrave.

He was a playmaker and had a very good year and was tough against the run. I want this team to have more of an intimidation factor in the back 7, we don't have that presence. Maddox doesn't bring that aspect to the field either.

You are probably right.

Hargrave and Sanders are under contract next year. I’d rather see them play another season before extending either tbh.

CJ Stroud has an exceptionally quick release.

Very impressive young QB.

I liked him and his play during the NFCCG turned the game around.  One of the biggest plays in Eagles history, imo.

The real ones know he balled out. Bad take to say one interception got him paid.

That’s very interesting.  I know he’s graded out very well this season; didn’t realize he has responsibilities other than slot CB.

See how Moore is employed by Indy, key player in their defense, Gannon probably uses Maddox in a similar fashion.

The trades/picks really didn't impact Maddox, other than Scott (6th rd), Gowan is 6'1 (Ertz) and is a candidate outside, McPhearson 5'11 (4th rd pick).

Vincent (6th rd) is a speed demon, he might be seen as much as a FS as a NCB.

As much as I would like picking a blue chip defender with MIA's pick, it would be worth exploring a trade down with that pick.

Down into the 20s with a team like the Steelers, who might be looking at a QB, and pick up a boatload of picks.

Then use them the year after to go all in on Stroud or another one of the more talented 2023 QB prospects.

I liked him a lot, thought he was a key piece of the defense that year...and yes, he balled out.  But most fans likely remember him because of the huge play during the NFCCG.

Yes sir. I think it should be looked at very closely. There will be plenty of quality players later, just need Howie to make the right pick. Could go o-line or best defensive player on the board. Grabbing an additional second plus say a pick in 2023 would be ideal. This defense needs a lot.

Hargrave’s cap number balloons to almost 18 million next year. You almost have to extend him or release him. I would extend him and lower the cap hits in 2022 and 2023.

Ah, didn’t notice. Ok, that changes things.

An 18m contract year is a possibility still, but now I get where you are coming from.

Mel Tucker needs to reconsider his extension...

I wouldn't mind a 2 year extension to lower that number

There we go.  We extended another average player from the 2018 draft.  Long Live Lowie!!

I was fine there with the Goedert extension, but Maddox getting that money... I'm not a big fan of it. This defense needs to toughen up and get some intimidating players in the back 7. Maddox isn't that. I would have moved on personally. Maybe even traded him at the deadline if there was serious interest.
