So you want to wait another year and half to get an already cooked RB who is super injury prone?

No I'm saying you may be able to trade for him this off season. You'd have to make the trade contingent on him signing an extension with us, and hopefully it would be structured to protect us against him getting hurt again. It would absolutely be a risky move, but if we're going to run out this offense again next year, then I think we need another RB. Again, I don't think it will happen, I don't think it's realistic, it was more of a passing thought. But if they're cleaning house, they may look to off load him for a few draft picks, and he may be cheaper than he otherwise would be. His talent is without question IMO, it's a question of health with him.

Even better.  You want to trade draft capital for a washed up RB who is injury prone, got it!

He's hardly washed up. And yeah, I'd honestly give up a third, or 2nd/4th for him. Who knows. The Giants are so dysfunctional you could potentially fleece them is my point. If he can stay healthy, behind this O-line....yeah, that's worth more to me than Howie picking guys day 2 and beyond in the draft.

Would you trade Reagor for Barkley straight up to save draft capital?  I know he's had the ACL and now the ankle this year but the thought of a healthy Saquan Barkley behind this line....boy that could be nice.  He's another of my favorite college players that I hated seeing go to a rival, even if they did draft him way too high.  Not even a PSU fan but would watch them just to see him run the ball.

I've said it for a few weeks now that with this line, can you imagine an elite back?  Look at the damage JAGs are doing and let's face it, as nice as Howard is playing and as steady as Scott played, they are just JAGs.  Howard was almost out of the league and while I love his bruising 15 yard runs I'd love to have big back who can spring one too.

I am enjoying watching Sirianni grow into the job.

When I say washed up, I mean compared to his old self.  Yeah, he is an average running back now.  Stupid to trade picks for an average RB who is injury prone when you can get a cheaper version who is healthy, in the mid rounds of the draft.

If you have a really good run-blocking OL I don't think you need a premium RB talent.  They pulled Jordan Howard off the scrap heap and he's banging off 5.4 yards per carry.  He was originally a 5th round pick as well.

Just get "some guys" to do it.  I don't think the benefit of a Pro Bowl RB is worth the cost.

NFL continues to cater to the UK, while spitting in the face of their bread and butter fans.    :nonono:

This team looks completely different than they did at the beginning of the season. I understand teams grow and change as the season goes on to adapt, but this seems like a totally different scheme on both offense and defense.

Was it the FO wanting a specific look and forcing the coaches to play it?

Is it the inexperience of the coaches and learning very quickly on the job to adapt and change the scheme?

Was it the players not picking it up quickly and are now understanding the scheme?

I think it's fairly rare to see a team change and grow this much during a single season. I'd like to attribute a lot of success to the coaching, I first thought they were in way over their head but they have shown they can change their ways and put the players over scheme.

RE: Smith vs. Lattimore

Our pass-protection was awesome on Sunday. All our WRs had lots of time to get open. If the WR isn't open within 2.5 seconds, it's a W for the CB. Smith's biggest play was a crosser from one side of the field to the other. Did he run a great route? Sure, but in normal circumstances the ball is going somewhere else.

Smith was open on that play at his break.  Hurts has to throw that immediately- he ends up lofting a back foot toss to Smith after he has already run 20 yards across the field.  If Hurts throw on time could have been a big gain.

I keep forgetting Elliott is in his fifth year.

The Giants LT Andrew Thomas has more TD receptions than Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney combined.....

Without a 2nd thought I'd trade Reagor for him straight up.

Yes, I feel the same way you do. It's been great seeing Howard/Scott tear it up....but watching a guy like Taylor go off like he is.....combined with what seems to be a commitment to old school offense....I think it makes sense to actual do something more at RB.

My ideal draft scenario is trading one of our firsts for either a lower first this year, plus some, or for another first next year plus some, use the first 3 picks regardless on defense, then look to upgrade RB in the 3rd round. If the Giants would be willing to move on from Saquon for a 3rd, I'd do it immediately. Hell, if they wanted Reagor and a 3rd, I'd do it. I don't imagine they want Reagor though, they've invested a lot in the WR position over the last few years.

It matters less what you call it, and more important what your wife calls it... assuming she calls it.

Yeah I get this line of thinking, and generally am with you. But watching this o-line....the thought of an actually elite RB running behind it....just makes a lot of sense. Now, I still refuse to give RBs a big second contract, unless they are a rare talent. I think Saquon meets that criteria, with caveats.

@HazletonEagle Can you believe Alex Singleton isn’t in the top 5?

I think there is some give and take here. It's been proven that you don't need a work horse rushing title contender - Eagles had that with Shady and it didn't get them over the hump. Eagles won with RB by committee. But you can't point at Howard and act like any 5th round RB will do.

Yes, Howard was picked up off the scrap heap and yes he is the beneficiary of a good offensively line. But I think his current success is more indicative that he shouldn't have been on the scrap heap in the first place and not so much that any JAG could suffice.

Cripes. I’ve never once said that, but it’s accurate to state that Wentz has been fortunate enough to have bad throws dropped that kept his interception percentage at such a low number..

For the record, I’m a big proponent of the that stat "turnover worthy plays.” A QB — any QB — being fortunate enough to have a bad pass dropped by the defense shouldn’t be chalked up to "it happens to everyone.” That’s just lazy.

Maybe we should start a "super catch by the receiver" category too.  Another category might be "balls that were tipped by a receiver right into the hands of the defender".  Turnover worthy plays

Yup.  This is my biggest fear.  The new OC is able to unleash their WRs and Daniel Jones looks like Carr, Herbert, etc. against us.

Give Howie some credit.

The biggest drawback of cheering for a 5-6 team with an easy schedule ahead of them -- they don't win all the games we think they should.

Giants are circling the drain; not only on their season, but their HC, GM, QB and who knows who else are on the verge of getting crap-canned out of there.  This would be a frustrating time to lose to them.
