It would just be the icing on the cake for my sports life as of late.  They are also targeting Venables and Cristobal.  If OU wants to pay that buyout, the more power to them.  He left OU on bad terms with that AD....but you never know.  The OU and LSU jobs will be filled quickly, then the other shoes will drop....FSU/VA Tech....My guess is that Jamey Chadwell from Coastal will be the next one plucked out of the Sunbelt.

I think he stays at Tenn. The AD and him have just begun to establish something good there imo. I agree those jobs will fill quick. I can see Chadwell going to LSU. I'm glad my Trojans were able to get Riley out of OU. That's the only good thing that has happen to one of my teams this year lol.

Deebo Samuel is an awesome player. Love watching him play.

I saw some of the Niners game yesterday and wondered if that was how Reagor should be used to get him involved in a game.  Rather than running routes knowing the ball is going to Goedert and Smith the majority of the time.

It ultimately comes down to Hurts struggles with reading the field.

I can’t believe more people aren’t livid about this.  21 seconds left and 4th down and Hurts chooses to throw to Reagor, who isn’t even in the end zone if he catches it (maybe you have time to run down line everyone up and spike it — maybe) — while his WR1, the player he needs to be his first read, is running wide open for a TD

Reagor dropped the ball ala JJAW — yes he sucks — but, wow, why is Hurts choosing to target him there instead of Smith?  The QB has to be a better decision maker.

Siriani said that Reagor wasn’t the primary read on the play.

But his scheme was working!!!

It was working you nitwit, Hurts just couldnt run it

Despite the inexplicable volume of targets for Reagor, the snap count for the last 2-3 weeks suggests that Watkins has passed him on the depth chart.

I would guess  , Aranda , is next LSU coach  .

Yikes. No wonder Smith was pissed

e45 isn't giving you the whole quote (shockingly).

Paraphrasing, Siri basically said that there was no primary read on the play, it was a "scramble". QB is taught to throw to the 1on1 matchup inside the 2 minute drill.

Sanders got hurt,  but came back and had another nice run,  and then disappeared for the rest of the game.  I assumed he was injured and couldn't finish.

I hope the coaches weren't stupid enough to bench him for some reason.  He was fantastic all game long.

Sanders cant stay healthy. If I'm the birds this offseason, I find a way to Move Brooks and Sanders

The sets of downs that stalled out seemingly all started with a pass.

59 minutes ago, Swoop said:

And they stalled because Hurts blows. He was off target on almost every pass, even the catches.

Eagles had 4 first half possessions, 3 of them started with a running play.  1 of those 3 started with 3 consecutive running plays, another one started with 2 consecutive running plays.

52 minutes ago, Swoop said:

Now the new narrative is that it's not Hurts' fault. He doesn't have help.

Well, Smith is open constantly.

He should have gotten more targets. But he was doubled a lot too.

Goedert I have been told is one of the best TEs in football.

He dropped some this week and last week. I don't know what's up with him. Hope he plays better moving forward.

Watkins is a solid piece, albeit nothing crazy.

He is really good catching passes 10-15 yards. But he had two bad drops when it get's thrown deep.

52 minutes ago, Swoop said:

He has a crazy good offensive line and a running game that's netting him 200+ on the ground weekly.

Agreed. But Herbig did struggle big time, not even you can deny that. Still with Kelce in our run works, it did yesterday too.

52 minutes ago, Swoop said:

How much more help does he need?

At least another receiver. And the big time mistakes on the offense yesterday would fill a loooong list.

We need plenty of guys to play with a lot more focus.

Throwing a ball that should win the game?

30 minutes ago, Penn7980 said:

Reagor proves that his catching ability is below average.  Dropping 2 passes at crucial moments of the game is killer.  Sad thing is if they drop Reagor, who else they could use at WR?  Smith is viable but he is not the deep guy.  Watkins has the speed and had showed some promise.  He is not a reliable weapon yet.  Behind these 2, not much.

Hurts trusts his running more than his passing.  RPO favors R over P, and more him running than the RB.  When the earlier passes did not work, he just reverted back to his own legs.  He may pile up good numbers on runs, but he won't be a top QB without the passing ability.

Another problem is on game plan.  The team got good results in previous 4 games by running.  Howard is hurt and not available this game, which hurts.  They went back to the passing game which did not work well and showcased the short-comings of Hurts and the receiving corp.  That circles back to Siri.  Can he X&O and game manage this team to success?  There are many questions need to be answered.

Reagor isn't good enough to play outside WR.  His best chance is in the slot.  Still, I think he needs a change of scenery.  I would trade him for a 6th/7th and just admit the mistake of drafting him that high.  Smith and Watkins can play the outside positions, with Smith moving into the slot on occasion for mismatch purposes.  We know what Ward is.  He can run the routes, but he has no juice.  He's not quick and has no moves to get YAC.  On 3rd/4th and short he can get you a 1st down.  Other than that he's a JAG at best.  I'd like to see them try Gainwell in the slot.  He started out as a WR in college before moving to RB.  He's more talented and disciplined than Reagor and more athletic and quicker than Ward.  Though if Howard is still out and Sanders can't recover from his injury yesterday then we'll need Gainwell to play RB with Scott next game.  But when the chance is there for him to play slot WR I'd like to give him a look.

Ask yourself this question:  Does Hurts look comfortable sitting in the pocket surveying the field and looking to throw the ball?  I don't think that he does.  He had it easy in college and he can't catch up to speed in the NFL.  I honestly don't think he trusts himself to make a quick correct decision.  He is so indecisive throwing the ball it's alarming.  That's why he falls back on his default safety mode of running the ball.  I do think there are plays (passes) to be made, but he either doesn't see the receiver open (or coming open, I think he lacks anticipation of routes) or doesn't see him in time to pull the trigger when he needs to.  That's why you see him hold the ball too long and then he gets happy feet and runs in a circle in mostly clean pocket when all he has to do is take one step forward/left/right and reset to throw.

I do think Howard being out altered their game plan, enough.  Siri knew he didn't have a power RB this game and maybe tried a little more finesse.  He did switch to the ground game as soon as it was evident Hurts was off throwing the ball.  I think at one point the announcers said the Eagles had 13 consecutive runs.  When you have to run the ball when you're behind (even by just 10 points) that's a red flag.  I think beginning of the season he went out and tried to run his O the way he wanted then eventually saw Hurts wasn't capable of doing it so switched it over to the strength of his personnel, which is equipped for a power running game behind a big/strong/athletic OL with good blocking TEs and a running QB.  I think he's doing OK as a 1st year HC.  One reason I would like to see Minshew so we can get a look at what the potential of Siri's O is with a QB who can actually read the field, make quick decisions to get the ball out, and can make all the typical NFL throws.

I am a little perplexed. We know what Hurts is, and what he isn't. We know he would be a decent back up QB to come off the bench and play the rest of the game or maybe a game or two. Nothing more.

I can only imagine how bad Minshew must be if we are starting Hurts over him.

Just because you cant drive stick doesnt mean the car is now slow.

I’ll stick to my 10 speed automatic

I think it's ludicrous to suggest that the front office is making Siriani/Hurts to throw to Reagor to justify his 1st round pick status when doing so would suggest that they are ignoring the other two high draft picks in Smith and Goedert.   The only way to truly justify all of those guys being high draft picks (Smith, Reagor, Goedert, Hurts, Sanders) is to create an offensive strategy that allows them all to play to their specific strengths.

(I'm not suggesting that anyone here is saying that, I'm just listening to WIP while driving this morning)

Honestly, I don't think that has anything to do with it.  We traded a 5th/6th for Minshew (think it depends on how much PT) while we used a 2nd Round pick on Hurts and ran the starting 'franchise' QB out of town after just signing him to a big extension.  They have to ride out the season with Hurts because to do so otherwise would be to admit they made a huge mistake.

Yesterday was the best opportunity to see what Minshew can do for this O, for this team.  Hurts was atrocious and just threw his 3rd INT (and into double coverage, which he threw into double coverage multiple times yesterday and was lucky to have only 3 INTs on the day).  If your goal as an organization is to win games and make the playoffs then that was the ideal opportunity to put in Minshew and see what he offers the team.  He put up good stats with the ishy Jags with inferior weapons than what the Eagles have right now and probably an OL that was bottom half of the League at best while we have one of the best.  And as @downundermike pointed out more than once, those stats didn't come in garbage time (well, most of them didn't).  He's definitely a more natural passer than Hurts so I have a hard time believing he couldn't be more effective passing the ball than the running QB.  Thus I really believe this is the FO clinging to their guy for the time being.  I'd be surprised if they made a QB change before the end of the season.

Once you go to Minshew there is no going back. While I just like most in here think it's time for that, I can understand the reluctance by the team to do that.

4 minutes ago, 4for4EaglesNest said:

What does that have to do with anything?  How long did we have to watch Jason Peters got trotted out there?  JJAW?

It's got nothing to do with merit.  It's all about Lowie trying to save face.

You think that playing Hurts and letting us witness first hand just how awful he is, actually helps him save face?

If I made that mistake I would be trying to hide it and move on as fast as I could. Hurts would be the back up, and Minshew would be starting.

The reluctance would mean, they still believe he can become a decent player? Or they are ok with tanking?

Reagor needs to not play. He's not even a jag. He definitely doesn't need more plays designed for him. That drop on the goal line was inexcusable.

I think they want to be sure and my guess is he's going to play the entire season.  Maybe they bench him with just a few games to go.

I suppose. For me, I already know. I'd kind of like to know a bit about Minshew before we go into the offseason. My Guess is Minshew already is better in Practices. But Hey I could be wrong

Theyre not going to bench Hurts during the season because theyre scared of social media and that means more to them right now than playing winning football
