He can't throw it to Smith there... the Giant covering Reagor is looking back and could fall on Reagor and light up Smith or pick it off... BUT.... I Hurts had any football IQ, he'd recognize that the Giants were in man and he just has to wait for Reagor to clear out the area and it would be an easy drop in over the top... AND... a simple slide up in the pocket allows Hurts to keep his eyes downfield in a perfect pocket.   Hurts is currently 10 yards behind the LOS... and has a perfect pocket... if he'd just shuffle up a step.

Watch it in real time. He's running himself out of the play and his hips are facing the opposite direction of where he would need to go to make a play. He would have to stop, turn around, go through Reagor and cover the ground to get to Smith who can just run straight to the sideline and first down marker. I don't think he scores a TD on the play but he would get a first and a chunk of yards to give them two or three shots in the RZ.

Reagor also looks pretty lazy on his route which doesn't help things.

Yeah, this is inevitable.

The folks who said they would stop being Eagles fans if Howie trades all 3 1st rounders need to start shopping for a new team.

Even as terribly as the Rams got fleeced in that Stafford trade, they didn't give up 3 first round picks in the same draft.  The trade was made prior to the 2021 draft for future picks -- a 2021 3rd, a 2022 1st and 2023 1st.

A more likely scenario would be an Eagles 2022 1st round (1 pick), a 3rd round pick, and a future (2023) 1st round pick.  That would represent at least equivalent value to what the Rams got fleeced.

Having said all that -- I still bet a frosty coke Wilson is NYG-bound.

I'd go to the Eagles well before NYG. That's just going to Seattle East. Well aware his wife probably makes him go to NY though.

I want no part of Wilson. Like him, think he's a great player, but he's 33 and we have a ton of holes. Now, if I knew he could play until 40 without slowing down I'd say sure, but who knows when the decline will hit hard?

Hurts will continue to struggle passing the ball as the weather worsens.   Regarding him favoring the right side.   If you’re a right handed QB, you’re gonna run to the right more often. If you’re a right handed QB with a weak arm, you’re gonna throw on the run to the right more often because it adds velocity.  You’re not going to read the field as well.  You’re not going to trust throws to other parts of the field.  Especially throws you’re not able to run into.  It all points to him not having arm talent enough to be an effective passer at the NFL level.  When you have to wind up as much as he does, you don’t have enough arm talent.

I drove 7 hours today, stopping along the way to see customers.  I Spent the first 3+ hours listening to 97.5 The Fan morning show.  They get it as it pertains to Hurts.  They all have come to terms that he’s not the guy.   Then I spent the the better part of the afternoon listening to WIP.  They are all in denial.  Ritchie, Ike, Didinger all of them.  They want Hurts to "work through it”.  Ritchie is the most delusional of them all.  Like way out there.  The guy does not have the arm.  Not to mention, running QB’s get hurt.  Reps will not fix his problem.  The Eagles came to terms with it and decided to take the ball out of his hands.  Until this past week, where I’m sure Julian Lurie and the rest of that great analytics department decided that was the week to let Hurts throw the ball again.  And look what happened.

But leadership and intangibles, you racist.

You can never be sure a player will be the same when you put him onto a different team in a different system, either.

A lot of folks thought Le'Veon Bell was great -- even after James Conner stepped in and did the same job for 1/10 the salary.  Hasn't looked the same since he left PIT

Being a little kind there... Stevie Wonder sees the field better.

Haven't been on in a few days and now Russ is our QB and Reagor is our RB next year.

All jokes aside, has there been any talks about estimated trade compensation for Russ? I would assume at least 2/3 of our firsts this year to start along with some mid-rounders and future day 1-2 picks.

We shouldn't even contemplate a move for Wilson. I mean I'll lose my head if we trade for him I really will.

Yeah the Wilson question absolutely comes down to the compensation for him. I'm not sure what I'd be comfortable with...but definitely not three firsts. Is there any recent QB trades that we could look at? Stafford/Goff doesn't really work that well because Goff was a negative value in the trade....though I suppose if we include and they accept Hurts it's the same.

They shouldn't give up anything. He's a 33 year old QB who has relied on his legs to make plays. Sure he doesn't run like Hurts but he uses his legs to make plays. And he doesn't read defenses all that well. They should avoid Wilson at all costs. This team is not a QB away.

Wilson's finger is not right, and I've heard that injury is not repairable.  He's had Hurts-like accuracy since returning.

The issue with Goff was he was owed a ton of money still so they had to give up compensation just to unload him so they could be able to afford Stafford or any QB coming back in a deal. Hurts is still on a rookie contract so gives them 2 years of cheap QB play to determine if they want to move forward with him or use the picks to go get their QB at some point in time. I see hurts as having more positive value even if it’s not great.

I agree with you, but would say a step up in the pocket... buys that extra second and then the throw is wide open for the TD... and all it would have taken was pocket presence from Hurts... but he has none.

Depends on if a team needs a QB or an RB, I suppose. I wonder if they made a move for Wilson, if they could even try and convince Hurts to change to RB. Doubtful.

Yup.  same as when the Texans sent Osweiler and a 2nd round pick to Cleveland, just to get rid of the salary.

No-trade clauses put the power to the player at expense to the team. If he only waives for one or two teams, its not the bidding war you make it out to be.

I had the exact same injury catching a football a few years ago, I was discussing it with @HazletonEagle immediately when it happened. I kept my finger in a brace for 6 weeks, literally never allowed it to drop down out of a straight position, and it ultimately healed and now I a little bit of super flexion with it. As strong as it ever was. I know he opted for surgery and came back earlier than the 6 weeks. If it's not right, I wonder if they could repair it in the off season with proper rest.

Excellent observation and one that most don't seem to get.

Idk i think Carroll wouldn’t mind hurts as Pete Carroll wants to control time of possession and tempo as it helps their defense. They are more conservative than an air it out type of offense. Last year you saw that they allowed Russ to throw more to start the year. After that Buffalo game he was putting up MVP like numbers but the defense was garbage. So they went to being more of a conservative offense. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Seahawks asked for sanders in that deal considering Carson has a neck issue and seems that is a chronic problem

He might also wind up being better here than under the current OC and Carroll. I have no clue if sirianni and the eagles would make him better. But i tend to think Seattle’s offense hasn’t exactly been stellar in terms of OC and coaching the past couple years. There’s always been issues dating back to 2018 with their OCs and what Carroll wants the offense to be.

Wilson has taken some hits in his time there. People think QBs can play 'til they're 40 because Tom Brady has done it. I don't know that Brady had to wash his uniform after many games it was so clean. That has not been the case with Wilson.
