It is not statistically significant because it draws no conclusions.  It’s just a best fit line, sort of a statistical center of mass, across data points.  No hypothesis to reject or prove.

but @Infam is the resident data scientist, and if he can't make a solid scientific case then you definitely cannot.

I think he is ok, with a lot of potential.

I‘ve seen him throw excellent balls and don‘t like how people act like he can‘t do it. I also think he will have to show more and more often if he wants to be the guy for us.

Jalen Hurts ceiling is the 15th -18th best QB.  He is never going to be good enough to win a Super Bowl.

I'm feeling better.

As a 2nd round pick, #53 overall, Hurts is not going to get 5 years though.

The point has been made many times in here that there are 2 main schools of thought:

1)  Hurts is dirt cheap option at QB and the Eagles need to focus their draft resources on building the roster, and get the QB later -- go with Hurts and Minshew for 2022

2)  Hurts hasn't even shown enough as a stop-gap QB and is hindering the development of other young players (high picks) on offense.  Cannot go another year with Hurts

At the end of last season I graded Hurts as a top-tier backup/low-end starter.  I lean toward the same conclusion based on what I've seen this year.

It should come as no surprise that I am firmly in the first school. It may be pre-K but there I am.

No idea, he had 14 completions, 17 incompletions.  Reagor dropped two, so that would make it 16 completions to 15 incompletions.  You gonna tell me the Eagles dropped 5-8 passes that day ??

You already know the answer to this

I have no problem with you stating your opinion, as I do state mine.

But presenting it as indisputably factual rubs me the wrong way.

I've been in the first school most of the season myself.  The way it's been trending over the past few weeks though, I would push for an open QB competition in training camp between Hurts and Minshew.

I'm old enough to know that isn't going to happen.

I really just wanted to use this cause this whole thing reminded me of Charlie saying This

You presented it as proof that Hurts was regressing as a passer.

I said it does not prove that.

If you agree there is no conclusion to be drawn, why even bring it up in the first place?

No! He presented it as evidence that Hurts is not improving as a passer.

Some are comparing to Hurts to Lamar Jackson since they have similar running styles. But even now Lamar is being asked to throw more and has shown some improvement on that over the course of his career. Hurts reached his ceiling in college and won't be able to come close to those numbers in the pros.

As a passer, Lamar Jackson was averaging a 57% completion rate in college. However, when he got to the NFL his completion rate improved slightly his first season to 58% and then to 66% his 2nd season when he was the full time starter. Jalen Hurts had a 65% completion rate in college, and had a 52% completion rate in his very limited time in 2020. He currently has a 60% completion rate now, but it is still significantly lower than his college rate.

Well, that's not what he said.

The "Jalen Hurts needs time to continue to improve as a passer" crowd needs to see this.  First we have passing yards by chronological start.  Then we have passer rating by start.  A line of best fit analysis shows you a modest decline in his passing since he got the starting job.  He's not improving.

He said that those who claim Hurts is IMPROVING, need to see this data.  Then he said that 'he's not improving'.

These two measurements sure don't indicate that he is improving.  But eagle45 never said that he was regressing.  You drew your own conclusion.

Dance puppets. DANCE!!!

The Eagles are fortunate in the sense that they have, I would say, as good a back-up QB as there is in the league, and they essentially stole him for a 6th round pick. That’s a guy that you want back there behind Jalen Hurts at all times, because he’s good enough… I don’t know that I would view it as a reflection of Jalen’s deficiencies so much as I do that the Eagles have two QBs that can play.

"I do think he would, yes. What happens in the Deshaun Watson investigation; civil cases, how does that play out? We don’t have the answers to that right now… Again, he hasn’t been charged with anything and he has maintained his innocence all along too… I think that Jeffrey Lurie would be swayed enough by what Deshaun Watson could do and how he could play, that I think he would have interest.”

Actually  he said " a line of best fit analysis shows a decline in his passing." Sounds like regression to me.

Pretty good.  He has polished his dealings with the press while continuing to appear to be genuine.  The play calling is coherent.  The penalty thing went away.  No real snafus in game management.  The team competes.  No locker room problems.

Really would like to see what he can accomplish with a B+ or better passer.

Better than I did earlier in the season

Here's a simple test.

If a young QB was improving as a passer over the course of a season, would the head coach who calls offensive plays call more or less passing plays per game as the season goes on?

Which way is the wind blowing and how hard?

You Fing guys just can't help but argue with trolls can you? One right after the other. Hell they might all be the same guy with clones, but you don't care do you?

Jalen Hurts is what he is, and is not going to significantly improve as a passer.  #facts

Greatest bass player of all time?

Not sure if you've ever seen the bass player from Dream Theater but he's amazing.

Jamerson  has so many legendary songs it’s a bit mind blowing. He’s absolutely top tier.

I love Claypool and Primus, but that’s a love them or hate them band. I like that they collaborate with Tom Waits, my absolute favorite musician.

Jack Bruce is also often overlooked, super melodic player that could hold his own with Clapton and Baker.

Oh I could talk about bass players for a long time.

I actually think McCartney gets short changed sometimes as a bassist. His lines were never overly complex, but they fit the songs so incredibly well, and as a technician he’s unreal. I always think of him as the Bret the Hitman Hart of bassists.

Not to toot my own horn, but from the brief bass discussion early last month!
