You shouldn't. Our battle at this point is with Washington, not Dallas. And unless we sweep them, we're going to lose a tiebreak with them, so we really need them to lose their other games. The Cowboys are going to win the division anyway, so who really cares if they win an extra game along the way?

Sorry. Can't root for Dallas. Ever. I hate them way way to much. My favorite team in the Eagles. My second favorite is whoever is playing Dallas.

You are kidding yourself. No one on our team is worth a 1st round pick. Maybe in madden, but not in the real NFL. You play many video games.

Mailata is easily worth a first. Smith as well. Then there are a few borderline guys I think worth at least discussing.

These are very young guys at premium positions. It's not like I'm arguing older stars on big contracts are worth firsts, like Cox or Slay.

It's ok to admit we have a few nice things.

Same.  I’m not invested enough in the concept of the Eagles in a playoff race yet to sit there and cheer for DAL.  I’ll cheer for WFT and see the bright side afterwards if they lose.

DAL is perennially overrated (including this year), get way too much press, and are still a classless team.

Teams dont give out first round picks for players playing only 3/4 of a season as a starter.

People think too much with thier hearts of the team they love then what a GM in real life would do.

Would I give a first for Malita or Smith, sure. But Im not an NFL GM and the past tells us they won;t Give it a few years as a consistent starter till they will consider that.

Exactly. Win win. Either playoff chances improve or Dallass loses. So I'll root for the no names.

There is wisdom in this post.  Mailata is a giant hype tornado.  Underneath that hype tornado is one of the best young OL in the league and a great story.  But it’s a hype tornado nonetheless.

He has some pass blocking deficiencies that need to be cleaned up.  It doesn’t matter in a 15 pass per week offense with a qb who won’t sit in the pocket…but if we ever opt to go with a real nfl offense, he’ll have to change his game a bit.

All that said, I think he’s worthy of a top 15 pick.

@LeanMeanGM

EAGLES - 0

BYE - 0

Bold Prediction - No injuries

Interesting interview with Jimmy Johnson on the Dan Sileo Show; he sounded anything but in on Jalen Hurts.  Said the Eagles did the right thing naming him the starter going into the bye week instead of being wishy-washy or damaging his confidence, but he said the Eagles need to be looking for a young QB who fits a pro-style offense.  He even said "Who knows, maybe Minshew is that guy”

When he was asked about their upcoming draft with all the draft capital the Eagles have, he said "just draft the best talent”

The way the NFL draft and draft value goes no one has a clue. A player could be a top 3 candidate and drop out of the top 10 all i one week.

you wont really know till a few days before the draft on possible value and pick position. Its a roller coaster.

I guess a better question is how much we’re willing to spend on a QB in the draft? Is 2 mid round firsts worth one of these guys?

PFF graded OTs:

1) Trent Williams, 98.4

2) Tyron Smith, 92.3

3) Michael Onwenu, 88.1 (Right Tackle)

4) Trent Brown, 83.6

5) Braden Smith, 83.5 (Right Tackle)

6) Jordan Mailata, 83.3

  • 719 snaps played
  • 2 sacks allowed
  • 83.3 PFF Grade

Mailata is a 24 year old playing at a very high level at the second most important position in the game. Easily in the upper half of starting LTs in the league already with room to grow. You're out of your mind if you don't think a GM would give up a first for him at this point. This isn't a homer call.

I think you might get more than a 1st for him. Hows that for homerism?

Realistic. Young, good contract, high end performance, room to grow, premium position. It's a no brainer even if you aren't fully on board the hype train.
