I was behind a car today.  The window had Cowboys, Yankees and Lakers stickers on it.  Would LOVE to hear why he's such a big fan of each team.

I think most fans like that would probably say, "they're always on TV," as their reason, and I thinks that's legitimate. If you didn't live in a major city or come from a sports family, you're not rooted to the team you cheer for as much.

But the memes of that kind of fan are pretty funny, I admit.

Was thinking about the quality of talent we have on offense and where our QB fits in.

  • Playing really well...Kelce, Johnson, Mailata, Goedert
  • Showing some upside...Smith, Dickerson
  • Quality players, not just JAGs...Seumalo, Sanders
  • The rest...Reagor, Watkins, Hurts

When the only player starting on offense worse than your QB is Reagor, there's a problem.

Explains why addressing that position sooner than later could unlock the potential on offense.

If it was a joke why were the oats doing it all year and possibly in previous years???

Pats had the least amount of fumbles in the league that year and years previous before deflate gate, a deflated ball is easier to hold onto less likely to fumble or drop especially in adverse weather which in foxborough is a thing.

If it was a joke why did Brady smash his cell phone containing evidence?

Either way it was cheating, Brady and the pats broke the rules to gain a competitive advantage over their opponents and they did it more than just that one game.

the Philadelphia Phillies in 2009 caught cheating twice and reported by the Yankees and Mets. That was a year after winning a WS where there were rumors of them cheating then. My point in all this is the Phillies were still great even after they got busted and had a stop cheating. You can be great and try to get every competitive advantage you want.

Just now, Utebird said:

If no one noticed the difference and if no one thought it made a difference than why did the oats deflate balls, if it wasn't a big deal why did the league punish the pays.

Again one can argue about how much deflating balls helped the pats and either way they broke rules in an attempt to gain a competitive advantage. Which is cheating.

Like I said F Brady F the pats

So refs and players, who handle balls regularly (lol), both said it imparted no difference, especially in cold weather....but sure, you must know more than they do.

Yup Steelers whom have the most super bowl wins if any franchise have had a singular organizational vision for basically since I've been alive.

The rooneys by most are the best owners In the NFL

Where as In the same time Pitt has win multiple super bowls over 3 decades under one owner and 3 coaches the eagles have won 1 under multiple coaches owners and organizational philosophies.

Even Lurie the franchises most successful owner, as you say swings on the pendulum from one extreme to the other with no unifying organizational philosophy other than claiming to be the gold standard

I can appreciate what Lurie has done but at the same time think they could have had even more success if they just had a consistent singular vision.

We'll see going forward.

Yes, as @Iggles_Phan said singular vision and consistency is key. However, I hope I am not contradicting myself when I say that the vision should remain flexible to change, to reflect the change in players and evolution of the game. You need personnel who fit your vision, and hopefully you draft accordingly. But, within that vision you need wiggle room to adapt and account for changes.

Each team (every year) comprises of different players and coaches, who ideally fit the overarching vision because the vision is a guiding principle which informs organizational moves. But when players don't fit the scheme, there are injuries, coaching turnover, etc. the identity of the organization is subject to adjustment. A strong vision allows for this adjustment. The Ravens are a good example... The ravens organization still values many of the same principles, they still have a vision which informs how they draft, and they still have a certain playing style which resonates today EVEN though they have completely shifted in their approach (to adapt to changes). A team once let by its defense is now offensively oriented. BUT, the change still aligns with the identity of the organization.

Our problem is lack of consistency (as y'all have stated). I mean hell, it took us until week 8 to realize we were suddenly a running team

This is exact reason why i think howie and lurie are going to attempt to go all in on Wilson or watson this offseason. Still don’t think they get either. But it’s the biggest reason why i think they’d go all in.

I would slot Watkins into the showing some upside tier....I think as a #3 WR, he's a perfect fit.

If it was such an advantage, why did no teams notice it? Even the guy who intercepted the ball in question had this to say:

After the play was over, Jackson handed the ball to the Colts equipment manager for safekeeping as a souvenir. Early reports suggested that Jackson was the first to suspect the ball was deflated, but Jackson said he did not notice anything wrong with the ball he caught.[15] Jackson says he actually did not even know the ball was taken or that the controversy existed until he was being driven home from the team's charter plane after the Colts had arrived in Indianapolis. "I wouldn't know how that could even be an advantage or a disadvantage," Jackson said, "I definitely wouldn't be able to tell if one ball had less pressure than another."

Again one can argue about whether it was effective or not and fact remains the pats defeated balls in an attempt to gain a competitive advantage, they were fined/punished ect and the league just like spygate tried to brush it under the rug just like spygate to protect the shield.

The league whiffed on video-gate.  They didn't want to have to vacate SB titles as a result of it.

So they used this as a vehicle to punish the Pats retroactively.

No, there is no argument. Players and refs both said there was no advantage given. It's not like they were grossly under-inflated. And with fully inflated balls, they put up more points in the 2nd half than the first. How do you reconcile that?

Spygate is a different matter altogether.

They all find a way to cheat, Parcells talks about  Bill Walsh in a book, during the first offensive series in a playoff game, Walsh had shut the power off to his teams head sets, that meant the Giants headsets also had to be turned off.  Walsh at the time was known for scripting the 49ers first 15 plays, miraculously his headsets turned on right before the 49ers got the ball the 2nd time, that was in 1986.
The next time they played, Parcells told Walsh he’d go to the league office if it happened again.
Did Walsh call out Parcells for LT sending hookers to opposing players hotel rooms at 3-4am, hopefully.

Agree.  Should have been more specific  "Showing upside with high-end pedigree..."

If it imparted no difference why did the oats do it?

Again even if it had zero effect on anything it's still outside the parameters of the rules.

I mean if it didn't matter what's to stop any player or team from doing it?

The rules are in place for a reason, pats and Brady tried to circumvent those rules to gain a competitive advantage, which by definition is cheating.

Yup, never seen or heard of a case where the evidence in question is destroyed by the investigators, stupid stuff.

I think Doug is probably going to be in the running.  I would have to think that Baalke may go too.   He will be an obstacle to bringing in a decent coach.  Baalke has only ever worked as a GM for head coaches that came from college.

I wonder about Trubisky. He would likely be cheap, and honestly, if we don't go after the big QBs (Rodgers, Wilson, Watson), and don't take one in the draft, I would much rather go into next year with Trubisky than Hurts/Minshew. I never really followed his career, but the Bears track record with QBs is really bad. How does Trubisky's arm compare to Minshew?

Trubisky wouldn't be a solution at the position.

Yup there have been rumors about funky head set shenanigans In foxborough under belicheat

I'll give belichick credit for at least being really good at cheating.

Nah.  Probably a Penquins sticker with an Edmonton one scraped off underneath.

It's undeniable that Siri has gotten the offense going under Jalen, but he still has not progressed all that much as a passer.

That’s why I wasn’t as upset as others about the Astros situation. They just upped the ante of the cheating that was already going on in baseball. The Yankees had court case going on where they didnt want to have a sealed document opened because it’s going to reveal what type of cheating they did. Don’t get me wrong, I thought the Astros should’ve had a bigger punishment. but my belief is there’s a whole bunch of cheating going on in baseball that hasn’t been revealed yet or they’re keeping under wraps from being made public because it would be an even bigger eyesore than what it was.

a conspiracy theory I actually believe in is that the reason manfred didn’t punish the Astros more severe is because I think the Astros had a bunch of information on some other teams and cheating. And that they were willing to make public if their punishment was losing that WS title or having an asterisk put by it in the record books.
