Speaking of good routes, that one Hunter Renfrow ran in the redzone for the PI that got the TD was pretty awesome.

He did prove he wasn't an NFL coach.  I don't think he's likely ever to return to the NFL.  I don't think he's anywhere near Saban, Petrino or Spurrier.

Keep in mind I’m not comparing their specific failures. Only pointing out that they were. I think @eagle45 made an astute point when he mentioned they as life long college coaches, they don't handle the transition of going from coaching kids, to grown millionaires.

If this Meyer rumor comes to fruition, I would be very hesitant as an owner to hire a future college coach, especially a big name coach directly into a head coaching position.

I was more encouraged by the fade to Smith.  That was perfect touch from the pocket.   Those kind of plays, on script, is what we would need to look for.  Not the unscripted breakdown plays that Wentz was so good at.

Even the screen for the Reagor TD was impressive.  He had a defender wrapped around his ankles and still delivered it perfectly.  Not accustomed to that since screens whether RB, TE or WR were always a weak point for Wentz and actually calling a good one was a weak point for Doug.

A brave post and i thank you.

I have a friend, a physical fitness trainer, who works with the morbidly obese a great deal. He has a lot of stories, most of them tragic. The 500-lb man whose only friend is the pizza delivery guy, who's the only human being he ever sees; that's a typical one. There are others but I won't elaborate.

More than anything, he says, they are paralyzed by self-loathing and depression.

I would add that women face a more complex world than men here. Body shaming starts in adolescence. A 110-lb teen can be body shamed. You can never be too thin. Of course the other side of the coin is anorexia, another form of self-loathing, and it's far more prevalent among women than men.

Too fat, too thin, and too miserable.

Depression plays a huge role in obesity. That’s the thing people don’t seem to understand or even think about. So many times, a person’s weight spirals out of control due to a much deeper problem. That’s why it’s so important to be kind to people*. You never know what another person is going through.

*Unless they’re a Cowboys’ fan. You don’t have to be kind to them. Haha.

I was duped on that play, looked like a run.

Me too.  They executed that one well.

I think Ravens fans need to be worried after that performance last night.  They blew the lead 3 times in the 4th quarter and their offense is getting figured out.  I realize they're missing some RB talent but Lamar Jackson took some hits last night -- he's not going to hold up all season playing how he did against the Raiders.

Lamar Jackson

In a few years, he will just be an NFL memory.

Miss that guy. Elite poster.

Lol

Chip running this without mobile QBs is one of the dumbest things he did during his tenure. Numbers advantage only works if QB can move.

Good observation

No one said he didnt have a good game

But if you crown him after one game you're an idiot

Didn't crown him - also didn't write him off before the season started like many did.

Chicken and egg. Being kind to people doesnt treat depression

If it did, this political correct Bs would work but it doesn't.

Isn't this what Nick Foles won the superbowl with?

Obviously. But where’s the harm in being kind to people?

So you crowned him obviously

No, as he didn't win a SB with Chip. Besides, we didn't run that a lot with Pederson either.

And so after 1 game (and a very good game it was) then we should decide that the "haters" are wrong?

Wasn't it the same type of play calling though?

Wrong to not give him a chance?  Yes.  Again - it's really strange how badly many in here want to see him fail, just to be proven right.  But hey, we aren't called Negadelphians for no reason I guess.

With Foles, it's RPO: Run-pass.
With Hurts, it's R-P-R: Run-pass-run.

It makes it significantly harder to defend. Most teams don't do this because
1) You need a QB who can both run and pass
2) You don't want your QB getting hit

People can form opinions on whether they think a player will be good or not without being "haters" and 1 game is way too early for you to be blowing a trumpet. Personally I didn't think he would be good, but I rooted for him on Sunday and I hope to be wrong. Looking like I might be but still too early.

For the record I've been wrong the other way too.
