I love the spots where we are picking right now. Going to 14 put us back in Ojabo territory. 19 and 21 are solid slots for secondary or LB help. And maybe be tempted by a WR there.

And right now, getting this playoff spot and getting trucked is worst case scenario.  Now you have no real answer about Hurts, and we have feasted on the bottom 10 teams in the league since week 8, and teams that could have taken that last spot have had revolving door at QB or Covid taking out their starter.

We either needed to be a playoff team that could win a game, or be in the top 10 of the draft, now we are in that grey area with no real answer either way.

Normally agree with bolded, however, I see no QB in the draft that is a blue chip prospect, so likely falling out of the top 10 changes little in way of our QB situation.

And by making the playoffs we (everyone - fans, media, coaches and players) get to see how Hurts plays when he is up against better teams. At some point, teams will load up to stop the run and make Hurts beat you with his arm. (Wash almost accomplished this.)   Or worse yet our D gets exposed and we get into a  nightmarish shootout.

Basically where I'm at. I don't need a Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes (although I wouldn't complain), but I need a top 10ish QB. I don't see that being realistic for Hurts and I haven't seen anything this year to sway me to believe he can be that throughout a season on a consistent basis. He might make financial success for 2022 but to me it's just going to be another year similar or slightly better to this year, but not enough to be serious contenders which just means another year gone. Then when you get an actual rookie QB you have to go through his rookie year, which is another year gone. I'm impatient basically.

I'm also in the camp that I don't think Hurts becomes the long term, franchise QB for this team. But when looking at options for 2022, I don't see any prospect in this draft I want to get excited about. And I'm not super thrilled to trade 3 1st round picks for a QB that will turn 34 next year and blow up our cap (Wilson). Now...if Wilson were 28, I might feel differently.

So the ideal situation for me is use 2 of the picks on defensive players (ideally a safety and a pass rusher) and trade the 3rd to get more ammo in the 2023 draft. Keep Hurts for 2022 on his cheap rookie contract, and look to see if he proves us all wrong. Luckily, Hurts isn't eligible for an extension until after next season, so there is no pressure to commit to him. Basically, use 2022 as a free option to see if he improves and earns a 2nd contract (unlikely IMO) or plays well enough for you to trade him for assets. If there were great QB prospects in this draft, we could take one -- but let's not force one.

I've been saying this for weeks. It's best to just not think about April until it comes

If Pickett is available with one of our picks I would take him.  I would not trade up for him, but at 15, you jump all over him.

Not unhinged at all.  Brown is an idiot, and the Bucs will be fine without him.  Do you think the Eagles have a chance if we play them ??  We will be a speed bump at best.

Brown might be an idiot but they are not as good of a team as they were when we played them earlier in the season without both Godwin and Brown now.  This is not an addition by subtraction when you remove a supremely talented player from the roster.

And absolutely I think the Eagles can be competitive with the Bucs.  Lost by 6 points to them back in October and that was before this team found its identity.  Defense will still have issues stopping Brady but not having to worry about covering Antonio Brown and Chris Godwin along with their other weapons will be a benefit to the Eagles and whoever else the Bucs play.

I take it you don't like any of the QBs that will be FA?

The 3 1st rounders do it for me.  Would be very happy with that.  Was Leal available at 14?

With the latter two picks, we will also have a choice of a CB1 and another lineman, O and D. Sweet.

A WR2 will be there later in the draft Ross, Metchie III, Pickens, I'd rather draft one then.

I have tried to remain neutral and accept your postings but this is another case where you would benefit from letting the issue rest. We will find out soon enough if the Bucs are hindered. I also think it is great benefit to everyone if you debate the post and not the attack the poster...my two cents.

I'll comment on both the post and the poster because the poster is becoming increasingly unhinged.

If Miami loses this week, and we get say #12 overall, that's a prime trade down spot for a team wanting a QB too.

I don't see him lasting that long given (i) the number of teams looking for QBs and (ii) the habit of overdrafting QBs. Remember, at this time, people had Baker as a 2nd rounder, and he went 1st overall (and maybe he should have gone in the second). All these QBs will move up the board.

Tampa Bay could have put 40+ on us easily.  Once they went up 28-3, there were already on the bus headed home.  And you don't think Brady will remember his last Super Bowl loss being to the Eagles and really want to put it on us in the playoffs ??

I think the Eagles are playing the long game due to financial considerations. I believe they are using Hurts on his rookie contract as a means to get through the situation. I do not see the Eagles investing in a FA  QB and the price tag that goes it this off season.

I mean...who? Tyrod Taylor? Winston off an ACL? Mariota?

I don't see any franchise QB in there, so why waste the cap space. Maaaaaaaaybe Mariota is worth a look, if the price is right.

Interjecting, but personally, I think it would just be spinning tires in the mud. There might be a guy that could be a slight short term improvement, but they aren't going to get you anywhere either and will cost more than Hurts, so it's probably not worth it.

For Hurts to win me over he would have to basically master Siriannis playbook.

And even then I worry that his ceiling is Dak Prescott.  You can win with a QB like that, but you truly need a great supporting cast and coaching.

Hurts needs to get a lot better at recognizing the immediate wins and just taking them.  Every once in a while he'll get the Hero Ball disease, but the good thing is Sirianni seems to be willing to let him know when that happens (whereas I think Doug was almost intimidated by Wentz, for example)

And if he can do that, those downfield throws will open up where he doesnt have to have a cannon for an arm.

But his recognition needs to take a huge leap forward.  Hes going to have a playoff game and an offseason in this system under his belt.

They at least need to pretend to have him compete with Minshew, though.  Dont make that mistake again

Dude, I am as calm as a Hindu cow.  You are the one freaking out any time someone points out the legitimate flaws of the QB, and then outright lying saying people are rooting against the team.  Then you posted some idiocy that we are not "real fans" like Washington has.  As @4for4EaglesNest pointed out, did you see all those real Washington fans wearing green yesterday ??

Do I think the Eagles would beat the Bucs in the playoffs, no. That said, using the game earlier this year as any type of example for why they would demolish us is silly. The Eagles are a completely different and much better than they were back then. Tampa is also without Godwin and AB at this point which doesn't help their offense. Not to mention ''any given sunday.''

Yup.  Life sucks.  This team sucks.  The FO sucks.  The QB sucks.  Our opponents sucked.  Our draft slot sucks.  Being in the playoffs sucks.

We will see.  I know you're rooting against the Eagles in the playoffs so you're going to lash out at anyone who believes the Eagles might be able to pull off an upset.

No they are not, they have just played the worst teams in the NFL since week 8.  We have the 30th ranked strength of victory in the NFL.

I don't think Minshew will be here, he's trade bait for Howie, he's already put feelers out there through the media.

If they do stick with Hurts, expect a 2nd or 3rd rd rookie to be his competition along with an old timer like Flacco.
