That would be my requirement as well.

it would be interesting to go back to read the assessments of Dak from his first three years and compare them to what the current reviews of Hurts are.

Well when I watch both (and from what I remember), Dak is more of a pocket passer and Hurts is more of a running threat. So other than they play QB in the NFL in the NFC East, are both of minority heritage, and both can be inaccurate when throwing, there is little that is comparable in my humble opinion. Dak has a stronger ARM, read defenses better in his "Rookie" season, and makes fairly good decisions. Dak is bigger, stronger.

The biggest thing they have in common IMHO, I'm not sure I would want Dak as my long term starter either.

Sorry for your loss.

I can and will complain about the Defense … and did so throughout the game last night.  Gannon appeared to revert back to the soft zone scheme he deployed in the first seven games of the season.  That was a recipe for the coverage disaster we saw.  I don’t care that the defense of backs were the scrubs put them in the position to be aggressive. As was pointed out by Brian Griese over and over again to the zone coverage is that Gannon had schemed up require coordination between the defense of backs and the linebackers. That coordination simply wasn’t there. And I don’t think it was the personnel that was the root cause of the lack of coordination.

Defense of backs? Please tell me you’re doing talk to text.

You dont think Dak has a stronger arm? Interesting.

Going by the Brady Rule, I’m predicting our playoff game will be next Sun at 8:15. They won’t want to give Brady a short week by scheduling it as the Saturday PM game and will want the prime slot on Sunday.

Unless we play the Rams which will be the Saturday Nickelodeon game

No not arm strength. Like weight room strength.

I think he just treated it like a preseason game and didn’t want to show anything to a potential postseason opponent. He just stayed in base coverages all night.

Ahh.. I thnk he def has a stronger arm than Hurts

I thought the animations were pretty cool and it wouldn't surprise me if they made them better this season

I haven't looked to see who all will be commentating during the game. I don't remember who did it last season but it wasn't bad

Agreed for sure. Just the one comment was "bigger, stronger.” I’ve seen what Hurts can do in the weight room.

He didn’t do his young DBs any favors if that is the correct answer

Although numbers are useful I’d be much more interested in the more in-depth assessments of various analysts. Your point about deck being in a top 10 office right from the jump is a good one.

The only knock on Dak was in his 2nd season after Dez was cooked and he lacked a WR1.  Romo always had a rapport with Dez, but Dak never did.  Jerry went out and traded a 1st to bring Amari Cooper in and Dak returned close to his original effectiveness.

Before they got Cooper there were analysts seriously questioning Dak; I don’t think many were afterwards.  Some Turds fans didn’t want to give him an extension, but I think that’s common with any fan base

that and $20 he can buy a happy Meal today

Hard game to evaluate, but positive overall IMO.

Major Takeaway: Draft Matt Araiza!

He should be pick 207 in every Mock submitted.  He’s always there for the picking.  In reality in April I doubt he lasts that long.  He’s a modern day incarnation of Ray Guy.

Weight training for a QB might help durability in taking hits, but it won’t help or guard against ankle, knee, achilles injuries.  Funny that the most durable QBs weren’t muscular guys — Favre, Eli, etc.

As a running QB, his strength is important. But I mean, I was only replying to the comment Dak is "stronger.” I sincerely doubt it, that’s all.

Gotta wait and see on Gannon.  I think there's something there, just waiting to be unleashed when some more talent arrives to actually run it.

Reagor and Jjaw stand tall as recent examples of Howies high draft pick failures.   These guys are poster children of why I would trade my high picks for proven talent. Because Howie is aboslutely brutal.

This is an unbelieveable drop here. Imagine Drafting JJAW because he was a 50/50 ball king in the endzone, only to have him do this with rare opportunity????   Why is he still on the team?  He cant do his primary function.

I would replace JJAW with Huntley on the active roster next weekend.

What could he do behind the starting OL?  The one gripe about Miles Sanders is he's hesitant to hit the hole.  Huntley seemed to explode to the hole even if just a crease.  Not saying he's Miles Sanders at all but he has an explosiveness to him that I'd love to see behind Mailata and Dickerson.

Yup Huntley if anything is really fast, if he was just a bit stronger maybe he'd be playing.

He gets out in space or around the corner and he can pick up chunk yards.

And as a KR I think he's the best the eagles have, miles ahead of reagor there and I think better than Gainwell, he was an elite KR in college if he could be a PR which I'm not sure he's shown he can do he could be an asset as a special teams gadget RB especially behind a real OL.

Every opportunity JJ has had to make a play which are few and far between he drops the ball.

Why is he still on the team?

I agree Huntley offers much more as a KR than JJAW does as a blocker.

I mean that drop was just beyond awful, not to mention I would have called OPI, bad hand placement in attempted catch just bad all around, and Howie will probably bring him back, hightower can't be worse than JJAW.

There was plenty of times that Minshew held onto the ball last night.

Forgive me for suggesting that Minshew doesn't do something well.  I don't want to offend any of his fans. I often forget that he's untouchable and can do no wrong.

This is your most original post yet.

I promised to reevaluate my position on Howie at the end of the year, if the Eagles won more than 6 games.   So, it is time to do so...

This roster is stronger than I thought it was... but not that much stronger.   This team proved that it is well coached, that they can lean on the strength of the team, and can ride that to wins against weak teams.  The OL is that strength, which really isn't that surprising given that they have the best OL coach in the league, possibly in all of football working here.  Last night really just solidified that strength.  Against the Dallas starting DL, the Eagles' backup OL, even to the 3rd string managed to provide running room for our 3rd and 4th string RBs, and even provided decent (but not great) pass protection - La'Raven Clark was pretty bad though.  Dickerson made it through his rookie season, which is encouraging, but still has a ways to go to prove he's durable.   Driscoll, on the other hand, as nice a depth piece as he appears to be, is becoming an injury concern in his own right.  Seumalo is becoming an injury concern as well... so the OL continues to need some more pieces added, though it should likely not be a target in Rounds 1 or 2.

So, when we look at the entirety of the roster, we have a team that I would likely put in the middle third of the NFL.  This is definitely not a top third team right now.  And I'd likely say that it is even more in the range of the 20th best roster, than it is closer to the middle of the league.  The defense continues to be weak... very weak.  This defensive roster is the thing that I believe is primarily causing Gannon to be handcuffed.  The offense has a really good running game, due to the OL dominance.  The WR corps is still a massive disappointment overall.  With the investments made, this WR corps should be in the top half of the league in terms of their effectiveness or efficiency... but instead they are likely one of the worst in the league.  They have Smith... and we still have the hope in Watkins, though he still has a lot to prove himself.  I don't think he's a #2 WR, I think he's a #3 or #4.  Which is fine, but the hole at #2 remains, and Reagor continues to disappoint.  JJAW continues to disappoint.  Those 'misses' are harbingers and concerns for the future that Howie can fix that position in the future.  RB is ok, but if this is going to be a power running team, the RBs need upgrading.  Sanders is nice, but continues to miss too many games.  Scott is a nice backup, but needs to be upgraded.  Howard is a shell of what he was, and is also becoming more injury prone.  They need to look for some more RB talent in the draft this year and get younger, stronger and healthier at RB immediately.

Howie is by no means the worst GM in the NFL, and I've never claimed he was.  But, he sure isn't in the best either.  We could do worse.  We could also do better.  More importantly, we could get someone who actually drafts defensive players and WRs.

This team exceeded the expectations of many this year.  But unless the Saints win today, they get to wear the crown as the playoff team with the worst ever record against 0.500 or better teams in NFL history... 0-7.  That's a concern.   Good news is they basically swept the bad teams they faced (one Giants' game excepted), but also got swept by every good team they faced.  And even that Saints game, which could buoy that record all the way to 1-7... and that was basically only a win because they were matched up against Trevor Siemian at QB.

I am not overjoyed that Howie remains entrenched.  Prove me wrong, Howie.   Show us all that you can draft defense, draft in the first round outside of the top 13... and not overpay your own players to retain them indefinitely, or restructure them constantly to eat up cap flexibility.   Stick to 2nd contracts... and steer clear of those dangerous 3rd contracts, at least 3rd contracts that lock the team into big money and commitments to players.
