4for4 and I are homies outside of the board, so we have an email and twitter connection also.  Don't be sad because you are not part of the cool kids club.

I need to post more often so @4for4EaglesNest focuses his rage on me vs other posters that report him which leads to him getting suspended.   I’m his "safe place”.   No reporting here, go for it.  :P

But they do get paid with a free education.  Which if they take it seriously they can make a decent living at if/when football is over for them.

And maybe learn enough to not end up broke 3 years after playing their last snap.

Fortunately, Roseman doesn't have to embarrass himself like that, he has Afan.

Maybe they have a real chance…

Sometimes you need a little luck to get going.  Such a bad throw, and into quadruple coverage.  Definitely worked out in the end.

I’m home quarantining from Covid, and I watched that game the other day. So many fortunate plays on both sides.

* Foles recovered a botched handoff at the goal line that led to our only TD.

* The Falcons recovered a punt that deflected off an Eagle to set up their only TD.

* Jeffery catching a pass on the sideline with one second left (after the Neal knee to Smith) to set up a FG.

Stand up move by the team, imo.

I have watched all the playoff runs so many times.  I got a sweet box set of the entire playoffs, parade, day game coverage.  I can change the audio feed from TV, to Merril and Mike, opponent radio feed and the westwood one feed.  As much as I love Merril and Mike, I have probably watched the Super Bowl with the Kevin Harlan commentary the most.  KH is the man.

Culture matters.

Howie has built a good culture...

I will also add that I think resting all of the starters last Saturday was an insanely dumb and arrogant move by the Eagles.  Sirianni loves to tout that they are all about "competing".....How is that competing?  How is that prepping your team for the postseason.  It's clear that they thought their work is done.

I hate sitting players.  On the other side, Siri may have been concerned about their mindset, if they took an ass whipping and then had to play them again.

This variant is extremely contagious.  Prior to this week I didn't know anyone personally who'd tested positive; I manage a team of 12 and all week we've been short 6 people who are symptomatic.  Found out yesterday afternoon one tested positive, and two more positive results this morning.  One person tested negative and the other two are awaiting test results.

Where I am there is a 40% positive rate among tested people currently.

She actually started in the CFL.   Caption on the screen is from her time with the Montreal Alouettes where she was the assistant GM.

My wife started getting sick Saturday, was tested positive Monday and is still on the mend. Somehow I've been fine all week, which means I just jinxed myself for this weekend.

It's a business to the colleges not the athletes. You or someone you know never did an unpaid internship in law school? Just because the colleges are making money it doesn't mean the kids have to or they aren't getting something out of it for themselves. Even if they don't make the pros they are getting a free education, free meals, and free housing. At a lot of schools that package is worth more than a lot of people make in a year. Think about the cost of a one bedroom apartment and how much food costs each week for people not living on Ramen?

Boosters already slip money to kids. Doing it on a widespread basis would kill most of the things we love about college sports.

So sure law students sometimes do unpaid internships at places that provide experience.  Those places are never businesses or law firms that run for profit. They are typically places like a prosecutor's office or legal-aid but most of those positions pay.  Importantly, there is no risk to future employment in taking those jobs.  They help make a student learn about a field and make connections.  It's unlikely that you are going to suffer some adverse head injury that risks your career.

The question isn't whether student athletes are getting something of value for their play or even whether what they are getting is fair.  When it comes to players not playing in bowl games or sitting out games because of concern about injury, there is a deficiency in the compensation they receive that does not make the financial risk worthwhile.  This is not because the schools, their supporters or the NCAA could not afford to compensate these athletes to address the risk.  I mean one easy solution is just to buy insurance for them.

I still do not understand why anyone, who thinks capitalism and free markets are good, would oppose students being able to capitalize on their skills as athletes before they join a professional team.  Kids with computer skills or an interest in trading are able to make money with their skills while in school.  Why shouldn't a student athlete?

Meh - I don't have any problem with the players they rested.  A week off at this point in the season doesn't hurt them.  I am sure most of them are dealing with injuries that would benefit from the extra week.   If they come out and aren't ready, it's not because they rested starters.  I also liked that it gave some of the younger talent actual game time.

Is there a link so that the board gets "referral” credits?

It really depends on the person, from what I’ve seen recently.  I’ve known of dozens of people that may have gotten the new strain.  About half barely have any symptoms.  Some seem to have symptoms of being "tired” but not too severe while others seem to have flu like symptoms and for longer periods of time.

It’s about 30 percent where I live. My wife came down with it first Sunday morning. While she was quarantining my son tested positive two days later. So it’s just my daughter and me, and I just checked her temp and it’s 100.4. I’m fully boosted and haven’t felt anything. My two home tests were negative.
