I'm still not sold on hurts as the starter going forward but I think he's better than whatever is in the upcoming draft, don't like any if the qbs in the first in this draft, they're all Daniel Jones,and he'll be a FA as well.

I don't expect the eagles to win but if hurts can show that he can at least keep the eagles competitive and not be one of the reasons they aren't then I'll be fine with him for at least 2022.

If he comes out and looks lost and can't move the ball with his arm and totally relies in his legs and looks lost and confused then it's time to go a different direction.

I like how hard hurts works, he's a high character guy and hard worker and good teammate and a good leader and competitor and at some point he needs to be more than just a swell guy playing qb, he needs to be an actual qb, who just also happens to be a good guy.

I would at least want an open competition in training camp where Minshew gets a shot at starting if Hurts isn't developing.  I don't see any way Pickett is still on the board at #19 and I wouldn't take him before that slot, nor would I trade up.  I doubt Strong will be there at #51

If Pickett makes it to us at #15 I'm expecting a trade down if the value is right.

I think there's this argument that paying players will upset the competitive balance in college sports. My point on Alabama is that there's no real competitive balance in football.  

I do not have a generator.  In Raleigh, we only had one time where we lost power for more than a day from winter weather and that was more than 15 years ago.  I am a little concerned with where we are now because there's a ton of older trees and the power lines are all above ground.  I may look at one after this if we lose power for an extended period of time.

This is where I am.

I think at minimum the Birds need to have a QB competition in the off season. I'm not a fan of any of the QBs in the draft and don't really want to spend anything higher than a 3rd on a QB this year.

Would love to see Hurts move the ball efficiently and keep them in the game if its a shootout, but I have doubts about that happening.

Why would they trade him though? This team has shown they really value the backup QB spot and Minshew is a borderline starter/top backup. Hurts being the runner that he is would be more prone to injury and he missed time earlier this season.

They trade Minshew away and there is absolutely nothing behind Hurts. Who would you bring in to backup Hurts?

I am trying to prove a point, but I am also a realist.  We are not equipped to win in the playoffs.  Lack of playmakers on defense, at WR, and a QB who does not have the passing chops to win in a passing league in the playoffs.  As I posted yesterday, the Bucs scored 30+ points in all 4 playoff games last year, and Brady has scored 30+ points in 11 of his last 14 playoff games.

Jags beating the Colts is irrelevant, so is the Saints beating the Bucs 9-0.  Sometimes matchups, division games and history are on a teams side.  Colts had not won a game in Jacksonville since 2014.  Wentz, Rivers, Brisett, Hasselback and Andrew Luck all lost.  

Bucs lost 34-23 at New Orleans, and lost 38-3 at home to the Saints last year.  They then beat them in the playoffs.  Tampa Bay lost both games to them this year.  Do you think that matters in the playoffs.

I don't think there is anything he can do that would make me feel "comfortable", but he could make me more "hopeful". 

Not going to put any stats to it, because it's all about context. He needs to come out of the gate good. No slow starts, no waiting till the 3rd to start scoring. He's going to have to distribute the ball efficiently, with no dumb turnovers. He's also going to have to hit some explosive plays. And I don't mean a run of at least 10 yards, or pass of 15. He needs to take and complete the deep shots down the field when they come open.
