Yes you can do the live chat through YouTube and set up a Patreon account and people can donate money to it while the live chat is happening.

The problem is that chat goes insanely fast depending on how many people are in it. I join live streams on there all the time but, it's useless to actually talk on there because you make one comment and it's gone within seconds from all the other comments. 

However, I still watch the live streams of my favorite YouTubers and will throw a few bucks here and there during the chat to help out their channel.

Like the 'test' from a couple of days ago, it isn't really a 'live stream', just a 4 hour and 48 minute video (next week it'll be a full 5 hours). It's scheduled to "Premiere" at 12:30 PM Eastern on Sunday. Chat should be available for the full 4 hours and 48 minutes. 

Once we reach 1,000 subscribers (if we ever do) and have 4,000 watched hours within a 12 month period, we can monetize the channel and begin making a little money from YouTube. It'd be great if we could make enough there to pay all of the hosting/software license costs.

Chat won't be visible, here on the board. Only on the YouTube page itself. There's supposedly a way to get chat embedded also. If there is, I'll see if it'll work here, in the coming weeks. 

If anyone goes to the video on Sunday, if you can, don't close it until the video is over and the chat session ends. The more "watched hours" we get, the better. Not only for monetizing the channel, but also to get YouTube to recommend our videos to others on YouTube. Also, "Like" it and leave a comment... any comment. Especially "Dallas Sucks!" lol

So I an unlikely to chat but if I run it on a separate browser, YouTube will think I watched it?

I'll think about opening it up to fool the algorithm, if I can.  A few cents from all of us will make a difference over the course of a season.   Might be enough to fund this place full-time.

Absolutely, now if VA beach actually sat there and watched the chat he can slow it down and highlight the ones who donated and what not. 

If you have a Google account or YouTube it's easy just click on the money icon and it asks how much you want to give and boom goes right through and gets highlited at the top of the chat. I'm always donating on there....

I've watched a couple of old livestreams, and I heard one of the channel owners say that they put the chat on 'slow motion' because it was going so fast. How they did it, I have no idea, but apparently it can be done.

Yeah, if it's running, I don't see how they could know that your eyeballs weren't actually looking at the screen lol. Maybe they can tell if the video browser is minimized or on an inactive tab. But I don't know.

Ok yeah there was times I would watch and look at the chat and it would get slowed down some. Usually when someone asks a question that the YouTuber wanted to answer or a comment that caught their attention. It doenst look like a fun time to try and control all that though.

I forgot to mention, that if we get to 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watched hours and YouTube approves the channel for monetization, I can set up 'Super Chat'. That does the same thing in terms of donating. But I'm not sure if it works on premiered videos, or just live streams.

But setting up a Patreon Page for the board is something that I've thought about for when the time comes (if needed), for hosting fee donations. I'd have to look and see if Patreon's cut of the donations is the same, higher or lower than GoFundMe. I'm hopeful that these other revenue streams will be sufficient, though.

I don't even think Polamalu was in the top 100 players of his era.  He ran around like a chicken with his head cut off and spent a lot of time out of position.  I know he was used by LeBeau as a freelancer, but I never saw him as an impact defender

My impression was that each person has that ability (to slow it down), on their own screen. But I've never really done the live chat thing before, so I have no idea if or how, its done. 

I would suspect that unless there's hundreds/thousands of people in there chatting, though, speed likely won't be an issue. If we get hundreds or thousands of people in there chatting, I'll be pretty happy, though lol.

Yes that's what it is called Super Chat. Yes you don't even need to be a Patreon of that channel to donate money then. 

It works great for those guys to get money to make content. Hell I've seen people just throw .50 cents their way. Get a 100 people to even give .50 cents and a few that throw 5-10 bucks you could get some good money going on the Super Chats.

I seem to remember Steelers fans calling him a bust early in his career because of what you mentioned about being out of position.

I think I can pause it on my end but, then when you get back to regular speed to get to the rest of the chat it was a long scroll down lol. I may not have looked into it as much. Just seemed very chaotic lol

I think you could definitely get a following and most definitely get some money for this site that way. 

I'm a huge YouTube fan lol. I don't even know why I have cable I watch YouTube sheet all day lol. So I would definitely help you out with it by joining

Yeah, if I had a camera capable of doing it, and the time to devote, I'd do the 'Shango' thing. But I already know that I wouldn't be able to do it, plus, I'm boring lol.

But at least this way, there's the capability to have a live chat for those that want to do that.

@VaBeach_Eagle another thing I think you get money just for people hitting the like button and subscribe. I know a lot of those guys will say even if you didn't watch the whole thing hit the like button it still helps the channel.

Youtube pays very well if we can get out to that point. 

We will fund this place and probably drive mcclarens with the spare change

VA beach can dangle a carrot too lol. Tell them if we hit this many subscribers you will get a free shirt or a discount on something ect. I know those guys drive a lot of traffic doing that as well
