Hurts leaves the pocket a lot, therefore the pass protection has to be bad... even though he leaves the pocket frequently for no reason.   The OL in pass protection was fine.   They weren't great, but they were good enough.  Ironically, I think the Bucs had more issues protecting Brady than the Eagles protecting Hurts, and that didn't seem to slow Brady down much.

It's easy to take a sack on third down when you're up 17 and the other team isn't a threat.

Yup.  I was thinking of that exact play when posting that.   He had a PERFECT pocket, even with their blitz and made a crap play... because he got scared and ran out of the pocket.

Hurts constantly floats the ball too — very irritating

his offensive line struggled in pass protection (which I predicted and got naysayed), and they couldn't run the ball because TB's LBs filled holes too quickly.

Offensive line was fine, Hurts bailed the pocket seeing phantom pressure.

TB was not filling holes, they were playing 8-9 in the box because Hurts passing did not concern them.

I can not wait to hear how you spin it when Howie trades what he needs to in search of a QB.

Yes it is.  But, he also got up by 17 with that pressure.   Wirfs was injured on the first drive of the game.

A lot to unpack here, but:

the pass protection was excellent, especially considering Opeta was starting

Hurts was confused and panicked from the first pass play of the game.  The RBs did an extremely good job in blitz pickup

I got lost after pass protection sucked.

lacks NFL ARm strength - His Arm = Koy Detmers arm

Detmer has more SWAG though

Bosa with a bit of a Dennis Byrd type hit.   Seems to be moving, but that could have been much worse.

Nope.  There was no pressure to speak of early in the game.  Didn't show up until they stopped them for the FG.

Not liking the direction this game is taking.

Detmer could make better reads, and quicker decisions. The ball was not consistently late.

He reminds me in a way of Krapernick without the fastball pitcher arm.  Zero touch, or understanding on how to deliver the football.  Unlike Krapernick he does have a change up and the ability to throw different types of passes, he just doesn't know when.  There was a 'drop' by DG early in the game that was perfectly placed, the problem was he threw a rope in between 2 defenders instead of dropping it in.

Except for the roughing the passer penalty on the second play of the game.    If you watch it again, you might see a bit more pressure than you remember.

Part of his tendency to bail on the pocket is the fact that he’s 6’.  Some qbs make it work, but Hurts clearly doesn’t.  He can’t see over the line. He crouches in the pocket pre snap to the point it’s obvious he can’t even see the defense…his eye level is looking square at the ass of the OL.

When he runs out of the pocket, he can actually see in front of him.  Watch any real qb pre snap and they are standing tall.  Hurts crouches like a rb.

Bosa is down. Huge break for Dallas.

49ers are leaving points on the field by getting FGs instead of TDs.  Could come back to bite them.  And now Bosa is down.  Hope he's OK and can continue.

The Cowboys are in their window. They have their staffs, their players in their primes before they hit FA. They're already 13M over the cap for next year. They have 1-2 more years to get it done.

Dak has still never learned to throw on the run to his right

Only one QB hit that wasn't a sack.

Sun may have affected Wilson.

McCarthy has to call timeout there — a scramble play results in 3rd and 19 and they run a must-make play in hurry up.  Not good

That doesn't mean there wasn't pressure, just not contact.

@RememberTheKoy we are curious to hear your take.  Koy Detmer is a better QB than Jalen Hurts.  Agree ??
