September 19, 20214 yr Cap situation after the Cox restructure, and the Mailata and Sweat extensions. Eagles are now locked in with Cox through the end of the 2023 season. Could have gotten out of his contract after this year with some pretty good cap savings ( 10+ million ), now no out until after 2023. https://overthecap.com/player/fletcher-cox/1824/ For the total cap picture, starting March 4 when I began tracking, cap space was 2022 - 73.3 million 2023 - 136.8 million Today, with all the kicking the can down the road 2022 - 8.9 million ( 38 players under contract ) 2023 - 52.8 million ( 27 players under contract ) And before anyone says the cap is going to explode with the new TV deals, 2022 is based on the 208.2 million cap ceiling that was announced earlier this year, and 2023 is based on the expected 225 million cap. The massive explosion is expected in 2024 with a jump to 256 million. Eagles only have 124 million, just under half the cap space available, with only 13 players under contract. Here is my google spreadsheet showing the changes since March 4th. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tF3yanEJI265hP5FH6PVCZDmTt5QQxDye3gmz2wRy5s/edit?usp=sharing

He'll put up some numbers. Smith is a liability for them at LB but still has ability to make some big plays. Is LVE healthy? They also have Jabril Cox. Has he ever played DE before? Guys insanely talented and has shown pass rushing moves, but I gotta imagine there's a big difference pass rushing as a LB compared to a DE.
September 19, 20214 yr @4for4EaglesNest Every time someone types Reagor, I always read it as Reachor now. Thanks a lot!
September 19, 20214 yr Gonna be an interesting case study on whether Bud Light and crab fries can prevent COVID.

Let's Go Birds. the defensive line and backers need to stay disciplined in their lanes to prevent that cut back run and the DE's need to keep that QB roll out they like to use contained. get to the ball and make the tackle.

But it is putting limits on what can be done in the future, and their is no end to it in sight. For the few free agents we did sign this year, we even had to spread small 1 year deals over two years. Eagles rank 30th in 2023 cap space, and 31st in 2024.

The Cox restructure simply changes when cap is allocated. We could walk away from him in 2022 without any problems. The carryover from the 2021 savings offsets the 2022 dead money. This assumes, of course, that we don't use this year's cap room. So far, that hasn't been the case.

But who knows, Reich was the Chargers OC before being fired there then coming to the Eagles. We all know how that turned out.

Occasionally Tre Thomas will put together a video breaking down a player performance, but it's rare. Most other guys just do a tweet or two with a small clip. Again, if you can site somebody else that is putting similar videos out there that we can post here for reference, let me know and I will frequent their pages as well. 3 hours ago, 4for4EaglesNest said: Of course I understand that he can block. You didn’t have this brilliant thought they no one else can comprehend. I'm not worried about everyone else here comprehending football, just you.

Cox has a 15 million dollar cap hit next year. If he is cut or traded prior to June 1st, that cap hit becomes 41 million. That is 16 million more than the current combined 2021 and 2022 cap space.

September 19, 20214 yr I feel like Shanahan is a little over rated as a HC. Good coach but not a great one. I don't see us winning today's game but it will be a good test to see where they are.

Regardless of the outcome, those metrics will be interesting and say a lot about the trajectory of the 2021 Eagles. I don't know enough about this team to answer those two questions, so watching this game will be like going to see a movie for me. The p;lot will thicken. There will be surprises. And I suspect I will be on the edge of my seat right until the end. Sounds like good entertainment to me! Go Birds!!!
