The super bowl trophy? Yes. I don't miss Pederson at all. He gave up halfway through last season

I'm as disappointed as anyone with how Hurts has played the last two games, but....

Are you kidding ??

Some of us just dont like the idea of continuing to beat our heads against the wall expecting a different outcome.  We have seen young Qb's before. I dont recall McNabb, Foles or Wentz, struggling this bad when they were young and first starting. Yeah they struggled at times, but not like this. They showed glimpses of hope.

Better than giving up after 2 games.

In all seriousness I've been racking my brain to think of a more poorly coached Eagles game than last night's debacle. I'm including Kotite with the wet chart and Chip Kelly only calling 5 different plays in his last 8 games or so.

The coach isn't doing him any favors. Hurts has major short comings. The coach need to play to his strengths and minimize his weaknesses. He does some things well, but he will probably be so terrible in this offense, he'll be marked as a backup at best for the rest of his career.

 there isn't one thing "refreshing" about Jalen Hurts right now. Some of you are ridiculous in your hate for past quarterbacks, both guys took responsibility constantly.

We’re both talking about Carson Wentz and Donovan McNabb, right?

We’re getting there fellas. Give it another two weeks and we’ll have one in the middle.

I'd point out that Hurts looked better than Lawrence, Wilson, Fields or Jones.

You guys have to be kidding.  You are comparing a guy who got 4 starts last year to see the speed of the game, has gone through 2 training camps to rookies who are just getting their feet wet in the NFL.  🤡🌏

Do you actually listen to what people say, I've learned to just watch what they do, when you pick up a couple 1st rd picks (hopefully) for next year, you're not in win now mode.

"Money talks, BS walks."

I would agree but for the veteran talent and talent at skill positions.  There is a glaring need at QB.  There are also glaring needs at positions they have repeatedly ignored in terms of draft capital. This isn't a bottom team in terms of talent.  This may be a bottom 5 team in terms of coaching. The penalties and offensive deficiencies are largely due to an overmatched head coach.  A couple of 1st round picks will do nothing to fix this team until they have a competent coach and front office.

God almighty, can some of you please read, process, and internalize this...

Pretty sure that’s the standard process with mobile QB’s entering the NFL.   It was with McNabb and pretty much every other mobile QB with a decent head coach:

There is not a GM in the league that would trade any of the four for Hurts.

Jalen Hurts is a running QB, he is not a mobile QB like Russel Wilson.  They are entirely different players.

Wentz had a great four games, then was awful the rest of the season, TD/Int 9-13, less than 6 yards per attempt.

When McNabb started in 1999, 2-4 record, 49.1%, TD/Int 8-7, 4.4 yards per attempt.

Foles in 2012, 1-5 record, TD/Int 6-5, 6.4 yards per attempt.

McNabb, Foles and Wentz all had games that were statistically worse.  I mean in the 2nd game of last season Wentz and the Eagles were blown out by the Rams and he threw for fewer yards, no TDs and the same amount of INTs.  McNabb and the Eagles were blown out by the Rams in his rookie season.

I’m not sure why people insist on throwing Russell Wilson’s name out every time when discussing young, mobile QB’s.  That’s almost the equivalent of comparing every pocket passer entering the NFL to Tom Brady. Setting the bar a little high, maybe?

Yeah, but these are the games when young teams get smoked, on the road, the first home game in Dallas, they're pumped up, and we're already piling up injuries (and too thin right now to sustain them).

If they go 5-12, interesting to see what Howie does next offseason:

Cox $2.3M saving

Slay $6.3M saving

Brooks $3.7M saving

Could clear out a lot of dead money in 2022, won't be able to sign FAs, but the decks would be clear for 2023 and onward.

The Eagles rank 19th in average age.

Hurts' stats look ok if you just look at the box score.

Watching him actually play....how can anybody come away thinking he has a future in the league? He's got a noodle arm, can't process fast enough, and isn't accurate enough. He's a decent runner, but even then lacks the top end speed that somebody like Lamar has. Hurts has back-up QB written all over him.

I was willing to give him a chance....but man, last night....he really will need to show out to change my mind.

LOL  come on Seth.  @downundermike and I .......and others have been saying this, since last year.

I'm both surprised and Hurt(s) that you didn't include me.

A rank of 1 would represent the youngest team.

I think this is going to the extreme.

When Hurts took over as starter last season for the remaining 4 games I was open to it, because the organization needs to assess what they have at QB.  My biggest concern with Hurts last season (outside of accuracy and processing) was it seemed to me his performances got worse with each game.  DAL had a terrible defense last season and I still don't think they're a top-15 defense now -- but they've shown twice now that it's not very difficult to shut off Hurts' running lanes.

Sirianni abandoned the run from the start, which was exactly the wrong game plan -- agreed.  DAL has a speed-oriented defense; teams beat them by running right through the middle of it.  On Sanders' first carry he gashed it for 20+ yards -- Nick needed to stick with it.  Instead it seemed like he got spooked playing from behind.

The overall point is -- can Hurts be a top 15 NFL QB when his running lanes are shut off, as they were last night?  I'm more skeptical as the games go by.  Two games in a row he's been very late on his reads and his throws.  So far I'm stuck on my initial assessment of Hurts -- he's a high-end backup/low-tier starter.

Of course.

It concerns me that nick didnt realize how few runnning plays he had called. Even teams playing from behind run the ball occasionally to keep balance/get easy yards.

Is Darius Slay near the end?
