It's the stupidest take on why we shouldn't trade for him.  The biggest concern is his character.  He is potentially a serial sexual predator.  His ego is so big that he is not playing because he has been trying to force a trade.  I mean the fact that he doesn't want to play despite having signed a very big contract is troubling. He basically is throwing a fit about not having a say in the coaching hire and is ignoring any obligation he has to do a job he agreed to do.  I mean that kind of ego, while not unheard of in sports, rarely plays out to a player having long-term success.

No, he basically turned on the Texans because he wasn't given input in their General Manager hire when Cesario was brought in, and he tried to have one of the front office executives fired as well.  Cesario had already been hired by the Texans a year previously, but the team had to wait an additional year per the NFL league office because the Pats cried foul.

Watson believed the NFL QB position was heading the direction of the NBA mega-contract star, where they push to bring in the coaches, teammates and executives they want.  The NFL doesn't work like that -- not even for Aaron Rodgers.  Rodgers went back to GB without a new contract because he didn't have any leverage.  Watson hasn't figured that out yet.  That attitude needs to change before any team gives up significant capital for him.

Technically, even though he may be a good player, drafting Devonta Smith was a disaster move.  Because of the multiple previous failures, they had to continue to use premium resources on WR's.

So far we only have 1 bet we both agreed on, and you lost. (I haven't been paid)

And the only reason i turn to bets is because people call me a troll or tell me i'm wrong and then run their mouth.

I dont run my mouth, i dont troll. lets stop the bickering and wasting time

That is exactly what you are.  That is why the majority of a blog stopped responding to you.  Some of us just enjoy the laughs to much to have you fully shunned.

I don't want to trade for Watson, because I don't want the risk of Watson.   The rest of it is irrelevant.

Use this dumpster fire season to finally finish cleaning up the house, bring in a new GM, back Lurie out of the meeting rooms... and get it right.  Actually suffer a real bottoming out, by not pushing crap into the future, but take on the cap hit now and get out from under it.  $30+M in dead money for 2022 already.  It will grow.  But, the push to 2023 needs to STOP.  Then you can bring in some talent, not old talent, but actual talent and build a core.  There is no core to this team.  Are there even 2 players on each side of the ball under 26 years old that you can say definitely say, "yes, this is a guy we should make a foundational piece to build around."?

Mailata on offense... the rest?  Nope.  None are foundational pieces.
Defensively... is there even one?

Keep Boobie please!

Otherwise, agreed on the rest.

Why, so he can be wasted here?  Nah, trade him now while he still has his health.

Because he's good and I like him.

OMG, you are kidding right ??  You better go look at his QBR the other 12 years in the league.

Only over 70 once, Watson was over 70 3 of his 4 years.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/StafMa00.htm

Maybe your should go look at Detroit PPG and then come back and tell us how you just totally contradicted yourself.

@4for4EaglesNest

Edited to add @austinfan, Stafford scored less PPG the last 4 years than Watson, has been top 10 twice, and bottom 10 5 times.

This contradiction is so epic I can't even stand it.

Sure you can, you keep reading my posts, don't you?  😁

I don't think Cousins is as good as Watson, but referring to Watson's raw stats, well, Cousins' are just as good. Which is why I don't take raw passing stats that seriously.

Detroit has been a dumpster fire since Caldwell left, but Stafford has always been a gunslinger, I'm not sure he's much better than Goff, but he's in a much better situation.

Put Watson on LA or SF he'd look great, in Philly, not so much. Just like Stafford. LIke I said, guys you can win with, but not guys who'll make you a winner.

But then again, being in Baltimore, you're not too far.  Go meet him at a rest stop on the turnpike.  You guys can have a soup kitchen.

Graham from 2010, Cox from 2012, and Barnett from 2017 are the only defensive players the Eagles drafted in the first 2 rounds still on the roster.

Milton Williams is a #70 pick, Davion Taylor is #103 ... the everything else is a Day 3 draft pick or UDFA.

That's why the more astute posters are saying keep all the draft picks and spend at least 4 of the first 5 on defense.

I’m pretty sure the Rams completely disagree with you on that. There’s a reason why mcvay didn’t want Goff anymore and was willing to part with an additional first rounder to just get rid of of Goff and out of that contract. And there wasn’t a long list of teams lining up to get Goff. Meanwhile there was for Stafford.

I don't understand how anybody wants Watson on the Eagles. Whether he goes to jail or is suspended, at best he spends way too much time with women who take money for sex acts to be held up as any kind of leader. He's also not Robert Kraft, sooner or later this will catch up with him even if  it is all consensual.

Not to mention the whole reason he wants out is because he didn't get to pick the staff of his team.

Finally, for the anti-Howie brigade,  we'd be stuck with Howie for a few years while the experiment played out.

I'd have.a hard time rooting for Watson if we picked him up as a street free agent given the above. But to trade resources we need to rebuild this team for him is ludicrous.

This season is already looking like a lost cause unless we get some kind of Minshew Magic or swan song renaissance from Flacco, both of which seem unlikely with 3/5 of the starting OL down. If Siriani doesn't get his act together we need him gone quickly too, monday night's playcalling was as bad as i can ever remember and i still have this meme saved on my hard drive...

This season isn't anything people shouldn't have expected.  Everyone knew Hurts had the starting QB job by default, not merit or competition.  Everyone should have known a young, inexperienced coaching staff all under 40 will have a learning curve.  If the Eagles are better than 2-7 after the first 9 games they'll have surpassed my predictions.

Only one of those are a first rounder.

This roster desperately needs talent, especially young talent on defense.

Giving up major draft resources and cap space for Watson will accomplish nothing but us being as bad as the Texans were with Watson last year.  The defense is only going to get worse going forward until we inject some young top defensive talent.
