I’m no Slay hater…although they did invest far too much in him between the trade and contract extension…but he’s good enough for a modern day starting CB1.

Slay is an overpriced band-aid who is only here because the FO missed on Jones and Douglas.  Howie even acknowledged that.

Plus he is a man-2-man CB playing exclusively in zone.  IMO, he is so far down on the list of issues with this defense.

  1. No talent at LB
  2. No enough talent at S
  3. Where are Fletch and Kerrigan?
  4. BG's injury
  5. Boneheaded penalties by Sweat and Barnett
  6. Did I mention the lack of talent at LB and S?
  7.
  8.
  9.
  10. Cornerback play

1167 yards 7TDs 2ints and 101.2 QB rating.

If I told anyone that would be Hurts numbers after 4 games we would all have been on board.

Don’t understand how the numbers are so skewed cause Hurts hasn’t been good.

It’s because we have a fantasy football QB

So, I was out all day today, and recorded the game...  just watched it in its entirety...  was about to post some comments, but I figured I'd gauge the temperature in here first by reading the post-game comments...

Aaaaand....  I decided not to post my comments...

He was beat a ton last year.  A lot of that was Schwartz putting him on an island against the opposing #1 so the rest of the secondary could stand a chance, but he was still beaten a ton…and it wasn’t just those two weeks.

I don’t think the stats would bear that out. He did dodge some bullets last year, but they were incomplete.

First win for us today

Andy Reid ran the ball 32 times, WTF?  When Did he become Knute Rockne?

When Clyde Edwards Helaire is busting out over 7 yards a carry, why not?

In 85 games Jim Schwartz defense only gave up 40 points, once.   This dude has been apart of 2… In two weeks.

Patriots. They could be pretty bad and you want them finishing ahead of the Dolphins to better the Eagles pick.

And neither was on him. He locked down Amari last week, and Kelce today.

For all the panic on defense…the did just face the 2 best offenses on the schedule, maybe 2 of the best in the nfl.  Sure, I’m disappointed.  But some of you blaming everything on the defense right now will be saying they’ve got it all figured out after they look good playing Daniel Jones x2, WTF x2, and Jets.

The D isn’t as bad as they look right now….and they won’t be as good as they are going to look in the second half of the season.

Carrie Underwood needs to give the Botox a rest.

Yeah, I really don’t get the pushback he gets. Two really bad games while injured have completely clouded how people see him.

The loudmouths who run Philadelphia sports radio don't have any clue what they're talking about.

I was concerned about the defense the first two weeks because it seems like it relied on Hargrave being incredible to be effective.

Not surprisingly there's a wide range of assessments on how Hurts performed vs the Chiefs defense today.  For a common frame of reference, here's how QBs have fared against the Chiefs so far this season:

Mayfield -- 21/28, 321 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT   97.5 rating (L)

Herbert -- 26/38, 281 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT   125.0 rating  (W)

Jackson -- 18/26, 239 yards, 1 TD,  2 INT (107 yards rushing and 2 TDs)  78.9 rating  (W)

Hurts -- 32/48, 387 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT  105.1 rating   (L)

I'd say his performance was basically consistent with other QBs so far this season.  Not sure what that says, from a positive or negative standpoint.

A lot of people saying Hurts was really good today. I think you can argue he played the best game of his short Eagles tenure, but was he "good good” today? I don’t think so. He missed two freebie TD throws and his pocket presence continues to be a problem. He was protected super well all day but he always leaves the pocket way too soon. Was he bad? Far from it. But was it some great game? Hell no.

Peoples standards have fallen since QB play in this city has sucked since 2017.

I actually think the Dallas game clouded the view of today's game.

The choice not to run often today made sense given the state of our OL and the quality of the Chief's secondary.  But after MNF, it had a different meaning.

Beautiful young women cutting up their faces is the most head scratching development of my lifetime.

Hurts didn't play as bad as his detractors will tell you, nor did he play as good as we need him to play.

He's not the QB of the future, but he's not the reason we lost today.

I also realized as a bammer I gotta pull for Mac lol.

Hurts was fine today. Not terrible, not great. A lot of his yards were based on other players picking up YAC or defined throws through the offense. TBF, this is true of all offenses including the Cowboys/Chiefs. The difference is that Hurts didn't make any big throws. He missed a bunch of throws he should have had.

This was Hurts' 8th start. Give him time to get better. If he doesn't, he's gone.

Me either. It’s probably just because he got defensive on Twitter, which I understand. I can look over the Adams/Metcalf games because they are elite receivers. Slay played some really good receivers last year and held all of them under 40 yards. The only game last year I didn’t understand was when he gave up some big numbers to Darius Slayton. Was 6 yards off 100 yards that game.

Jalen Ramsey once gave up 12 rec for 147 yards against Hopkins. I’m sure other top NFL CB have also. It happens. I don’t mind the draft capital given up for him because are we getting better CB play from a 3rd or 5th round pick?
