good one.

You're too simple to understand why people call you out for openly rooting for the Eagles to lose in week 4. We all understand that high draft picks are valuable, but an actual "fan" of the team doesn't click their heels when we lose, either.

Hence, you're a fraud.

I didn't think it had to be spelled out, but here we are. IDIOT.

So which is it. High draft picks or better or not... IDIOT.

This team isnt good. You learned a lot about your coaching staff. Your QB. The offense. and you moved one step further from purgatory while looking some what competitive. It's truly a perfect situation.

Getting Embarrassed by Dallas... was not

In fact, I cant think of a better sunday then what we had yesterday. (with this eagles team)

No one is saying that higher picks are bad.

I'm saying you're a FRAUD for cheering about an Eagles loss. You can understand that high picks are good and also not be happy that the Eagles are losing.

IDIOT.

Losing begets more losing.  Nobody should be hoping for a 2-15 season just so the Eagles get the highest pick they can.  Defensive talent can typically be gotten a bit later than offensive talent as more teams are gravitating towards taking QB and WR at the top of the draft.  There are usually at least a couple of OL taken in the top 15 picks as well.  WFT build up their DL over the course of 3 drafts -- yes, Chase Young was a #2 pick, but Payne was #13 overall, Allen #17, and Sweat #26.

Just need to have a solid organizational plan and stick to it -- something the Eagles currently lack.

Isn't the Hurts one a fraternity thing? Steve Belichick just has a tick.

Unfortunately we don’t have enough bodies to sit him. Kerrigan might be washed, and Jackson is bad. Williams should be an attacking DT.

But he needed to be sat down for a bit immediately after his penalty against SF, then his offsides vs Dallas and again yesterday.

I sit him anyway.  He's hurting the team out there.   Move Avery back to DE for some snaps.  Whatever.  He needs to be held accountable.

Yeah exactly. At the end of the year we might be happy with a higher draft pick, but what fan openly roots against their team in week 4?

Caplan said something like we have run man coverage on only 10 percent of our snaps this season, by far the lowest in the league.

Yeah just bench him for the first quarter even. I'm fine with that. See how he responds (I have a hunch he would be petulant). But right now, you can set your watch to him having at least one 15 yard penalty per game, and lately seems like an offside thrown in for good measure (and seemingly always on a play that would shift momentum to us).

Exactly... something.

5 DB is pretty much base defense throughout the NFL, though -- unless you have a LB who can cover Mecole Hardman or Pringle.  Few teams do, and the Eagles certainly aren't one.

For me... yeah, I'm ok with it.  I had this team pegged for 5 wins.  Getting the QB decision right is the most important single piece.  So, while it sucks, and it will continue to suck, I prefer that to NFL purgatory of 7 - 9 wins, out of the playoffs, but out of the difference makers at the top of the draft.  Holding Miami's pick is nice, but getting two difference makers or having the ammo to move up for a QB, or maybe trade back with one to get a difference maker with one pick, a really good player with the other and some more ammo for moves next offseason.

As for the lack of play in the PS, I agree.  The fact that they punted on the PS really sticks in my craw even now.

So,  with that goal in mind,  is it all eggs in the Hurts development basket? Or should the plan be half of the season Hurts, and half of the season Minshew to get a good comparison of both of them?

Sorry to be a second, third level thinker and understanding how the NFL works

A win yesterday ONLY HURT THE FRANCHISE. Sometimes losing is good.

If you cant see that I cant help you.

How stupid are you?

It is Hurts until he proves that he's not improving.   Then, after half the season and we can definitively say he's not getting where he needs to go, sure, go to Minshew.   But, we aren't there yet.

I think there are a lot of fair criticism of Hurts’ play, but I think many are letting their bias (as in not liking his play style) or preconceived notions cloud how he played yesterday. I’m guilty of that as well. No doubt he missed some crucial throws, and his pocket awareness was bad, but overall it was a promising outing.

He looked much better than against Dallas, where he basically sabotaged the team. Those handful of bad plays separate average and bad quarterbacks from the good ones, so it’s not an excuse. I think people need a little more patience.

I'm curious if the Eagles finally move on from Barnett and Ertz come the deadline. Try and save whatever $ they can

@downundermike what would the savings be?

Whatever happens, the Eagles are stuck with Fletcher Cox for another year because, and wait for it, the dead money on the cap will be north of $20-30m if they release/trade  him.  Thanks Howie for the recent restructure 👍

I think it's hard to assess his play as being completely ineffective given the production of Hargrave but he looked bad yesterday. I wonder how much of it is disinterest vs. physical issues.  I don't think he's a big fan of Gannon.  I don't think Gannon has been good the last 2 weeks.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that GMs both understand the value of good picks and don't proceed to high five each other and party when the team loses.

You can talk about "next level intelligence" until you turn blue in the face, but the fact that you can't understand something so simple is absolutely hilarious.

Cox is typical of DTs in their 30s, they lose that explosive first step and if they're smaller, on the way out of the league, if they're larger, become more run stoppers.

Curious to see what Gannon does this week against Darnold.  He's clearly not in the same class of the first four QBs we've faced.

Soft zone. DJ Moore is gonna break the reception record.

I think he's actually better than Jimmy G, but I get what you're saying. And Jimmy G was helped massively by Shannahans scheme.

We do have patience and  he looked okay yesterday. That said whether or not we have patience doesn't mean a damn thing in the grand scheme of things. I don't like his style of play and I will complain about him until he proves me wrong or he is gone, I also give credit when he makes nice plays. But again whether I support him or not means absolutely nothing.

Accuracy continues to be a problem. Looking to run and running into trouble continues to be a problem (teams have figured out he likes to run and he aint no Jackson or Vick). And he's still slow at decision making.

The bright spot from the first 4 games is these young players and rookies are showing a lot of promise
