It’s possible. Would be interesting to see what that process would be like and the results of it, as well as how team performs rest of the season.

Just pure speculation, hypothetical, only to indulge in this idea, what would Hurts trade value realistically be right now? Factoring in his play, rookie contract, and other teams need for QB? I think Sam Darnold is good reference point on this

.this is alarming for sure, it's one thing when Cox is getting doubled but that's 29 single blocks and nothing to show for it, Cox needs to beat single blocks getting a goose egg against single blocks is no bueno image.png.2b9e9675adc6e1b4e74b6ba1fe7a8c5b.png

It's approved for next season....but here's the kicker....Lurie apparently didn't give any plans to the NFL so the Eagles won't have a 2nd helmet/uniform until 2023.

So the owner who was pushing to get rid of the 1 helmet rule, finally has it go away only to not have a 2nd helmet option approved by the NFL.

An Eagles spokesperson said the team was "excited about the possibilities and is beginning to look into its options, as the policy was just released. Any new developments will be announced at the appropriate time.”

But sources with the team said the NFL deadline for uniform selection for the 2022 season has already passed, and the Eagles submitted their black alternate jersey. Any new helmet the team could wear would have to work with those uniforms. So barring a change from the league, fans won’t get to see the Birds in kelly green until 2023 at the soonest.

I believe the term 'clown show' is appropriate here.

It was gross but I didn't think it'd take him out for weeks like this

If its his throwing hand, then yeah... that's kind of a big deal.  If its the off hand... put a glove on it, and get out there and play.

If I am remembering correctly, the strangest hand injury I ever remember a QB playing through was Steve Deberg playing with a broken finger and at least 3 pins in the finger (which were sticking out).   But, even that was on his none through hand.  Not sure if a QB today would play with that big a boo-boo.

Eagles fans might need to revisit exactly what Cox and Lane Johnson are at this point in their careers.  Cox is still widely thought of as a top 3 DT and Lane was the best RT in football.  Neither has been that for awhile now

Any way they can unload Cox to a contender?

Or is his contract untradeable?

Based on what? What makes you think that?

I’m guessing he likely means they bring up every once in a while they were going to draft Wilson and the Seahawks snagged him before they could in the third round. Also when they drafted hurts saying they didn’t want to miss out like they did when they didn’t draft Russell Wilson.

@HazletonEagle if I remember right when I had my mallet finger injury, when I took the splint off after six weeks of it being completely immobilized, it was swollen and grotesque. A deep purple blue too. Took about a week to go down, then had to do some strengthening exercises. For it to be his middle finger on his throwing hand, would you guess he’s out 8 weeks?

I brought this up about Cox 2 weeks ago. Saying he needed to step his game up cause it wasn’t all double teams as to why he wasn’t getting the production. He had something like 1 QB hit and 1 sack in his last 6 games then. Add two games it’s now 1 QB hit and 1 sack in last 8 games.

fletcher was a monster but he’s not what he once was and he seems to just be unhappy with the situation and his role. To be honest the most frustrating thing in that Chiefs game with Cox wasn’t that he was unproductive. I get he’s older and he’s not gonna be what he once was. that happens when you play the amount of snaps he has over the course of time and his age. However there was a play where Patrick Mahomes gets outside of the pocket and Fletcher Cox has an angle to limit him to just a 6 to 7 yard gain. Instead he just stops.  Allows Mahomes just goes right up field for an extra 7 yards to pick up the first down. That was an effort play not about talent.

This would come under Football Operations, another Howie failure.

Nah, this one I'll put on Smolenski.   But, they all seem to suck at their jobs, currently.

I heard they were going to pull him in short yardage situations, and put Mailata at FB.

Yup there were a few too many plays like that where Cox just threw the towel in, there was one where it looked liked he purposefully got pancaked, he looked like and NBA player taking a flop, i thought what the heck is going on???

He's been abysmal so far this year.

ESPN now is saying 4-8, rather than 6-8 like I saw in that tweet. And that he is getting surgery.

I think surgery provides a more reliable fix as far as making sure that tendon, or bone fragment is reliably tacked down. And a potentially quicker healing time.

Again, the drawback is that his finger will never, ever be the same again. But that doesnt necessarily mean itll interfere with his football career either. Id guess theyll err on the side of repairing it slightly more taught, knowing it will always lack a few degrees short of full flexion. And, you dont need full flexion to press that finger tip on the ball either.

I dont think itll take 8 weeks. Id guess surgery, immobilize for 4 weeks, and maybe some occupational therapy for a week or 2 to work on motion at that joint.
