1969 Chevelle SS 396 Dark Blue Muscle Car Art Drawing by Rudy Edwards

3 years, hundreds of hours,  thousands of my dollars, so much knuckle skin. The USAF would not ship it to Spain when I was stationed there, because my rank did not qualify. Sold it to a friend who wrecked it.

I paid about $22500 for a brand new Honda Civic the week before the pandemic hit.  Today KBB says I could trade it in for about $25000 after I've put 11,000 miles on it.

Now the problem is replacing it once you’ve sold it...

True, but I very well make my next move to a situation that doesn’t require a vehicle.  Not for sure, but maybe

Sounds just like real estate/new homes 🙂

Isn’t the larger issue being poor and buying a Honda Civic in the first place?

We need to get him and his Civic, Kz and the lawnmower he may or may not really have, to the drag strip ASAP.

Let me say that if I were interested in a fleet of compact cars and not just for myself, I’d go with this car.  Now are people who own fleets of cars "poor”?

If they drive one of them - yes.

Lol a fleet of Honda Civics. Lmao.

Are they all gonna have NOS and are you gonna use them to hijack 18 wheelers?

Wait I have another question. If a person can afford to buy a "fleet of compact cars", why not just buy a couple really nice ones instead? Maybe keep one Civic if you commute and are a huge Vin Diesel fan.

I’d go for the base model which is very bland.  The only thing I’d change is they wouldn’t have the hub cap wheels

Maybe if I was Mayor of Portland (Maine) or something

The point isn’t for that.  The cars stand up well over time and depreciate very slowly

case in point, mine has appreciated actually

I'm asking you, not the mayor of Portland.  What is the point of an individual owning many of the same car? Unless you are using them for business purposes (unlikely given its you), having multiple vehicles that serve the same exact purpose is pretty stupid.

That’s my point though.  It’s the car I would get as a fleet vehicle.  It’s got a measure of quality without being wastefully luxurious, which I can appreciate on an individual level, but not for an economy purpose

But you are not buying a fleet, so why would a car that qualifies as a good "fleet vehicle" matter in your considerations?

Honestly, if you bought a single car because it has attributes that make it a great car to buy in bulk, it probably proves @vikas83 point even further.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but I think what makes a good fleet vehicle makes a sensible vehicle for someone who doesn’t really care about cars other than it’s clean and dependable and isn’t costing more money that it needs to in order to accomplish these things in the long term

if I needed to get around back country, similarly I wouldn’t go for a hummer or whatever is considered luxurious.  I’d go for the type of vehicle that does the job without costing anything more for anything I don’t need
