Third world countries have better road side seasonings for meat. The bland arse hoagies are too weak to hold up, a f'ing taco has better architecture. Cheez Whiz? Are you f'ing serious? I haven't had them all but I've had John's Roast pork, Pats, etc. More than enough to have an opinion. I agree about the seasoning at most places, it's always been a peeve of mine and why I usually just make my own on my flat top.

Where do you get the meat, and how do you slice it? And where do you get the roll? If you put some TLC into a steak sandwich at home, it'll blow away what you can get at a grill.

Unfortunately I have not found a place to get rolls that are anything special around here yet, I moved not even a year ago. To be perfectly honest, the Lidl near me has had the best Italian style hoagie rolls so far. Not sure where they get them from but they are pretty good.

Dude - try some fresh minced garlic instead of the powder. If you really want to take it up a notch, some minced red fresno peppers while you're sauteeing the meat works really well.

March 24, 20223 yr The interwebz tells me that it's National Cheeseteak Day. Philadelphia Steaks and Hoagies is a pretty decent spot in Camp Hill that does the trick if you're in the Central PA area. They used to have a location in downtown Harrisburg, too, that I originally thought was the better of the two, but just think they sold thay location recently and now the family just runs this one. Owner is from NE Philly and apparnetly grew up in the same neighborhood as my mom. Small world.
March 25, 20223 yr More importantly, where are the best hookers in Philly? I've heard Fishtown has a nice smorgasbord.

May 9, 20223 yr I was in the area for a hot minute last week and gave Datillo's a try. It's a small deli/market in the Northeast. The steak was top-notch. I got an extra cooper wit. Seeded soft roll had good texture, steak was flavorful and cut but not completely chopped to ****. Cheese was mixed in well and with good proportion to the meat. Best of all was the value: Standard price for their cheesesteak was $9.25, and it was filling. Looked like they had good hoagies too.

Anthony Bourdain raved about Donkey's steak sandwich on a round kaiser roll - but I'm always wary about steak sandwich reviews from people who aren't from the Delaware Valley
