Outside of Reagan, Kennedy, George H Bush, Ike, and Teddy it's not like any of our other presidents since 1909 would be a Zelensky.

H or W? I think both probably would (did?) make good wartime/crisis presidents, though I have my reservations about W's hawkishness.

LBJ would probably be pretty good as well. That dude could dress people down, and if that didn't work he'd slap them around with his...

He most def is a BAMF. I think GW would stick around if it was an option. Just a feeling. I’m sure not remotely accurate since most of our politicians are blowhard cowards.

Ford fought in WW2 as well.

W decided to fly instead of serving on the ground. Hard to blame him, but makes me question if he would be a Z and stay behind to fight. His dad flew combat missions and was part of the greatest generation. LBJ is an interesting one. Farm boys from Texas aren't to be played with.

He'd fall down the bunker stairs and have to be evacuated

Which I knew. Didn’t know if he served in the military.

Michigan…maybe if he played at Miami in the 1980s I would know he’d stab someone.

He’d be coked up to hell and ready to slit a mothaFa’s throat.

So basically every President from Ike to HW Bush served in WW2. Reagan wasn’t a soldier, but he was in the military. He was actually too old to serve.

No idea if it's true but saw it said that a lot of the true military men of the Soviet Union were Ukrainian, and when the Soviet Union fell Russia lost most of its best minds.

I have no idea if that's true, going to read up, but any of the resident military nerds have any thoughts? @Bill?

Truman would have fought someone. Carter was in the Navy. Nixon was in the Navy during WW2. LBJ served in WW2. Not sure about Ford.

Anyone read Foundations in Geopolitics? This is apparently the playbook Putin has been following (which in itself is odd but whatever).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundations_of_Geopolitics

Quote

In Foundations of Geopolitics, Dugin calls for the United States and Atlanticism to lose their influence in Eurasia, and for Russia to rebuild its influence through annexations and alliances.[2]

The book declares that "the battle for the world rule of Russians" has not ended and Russia remains "the staging area of a new anti-bourgeois, anti-American revolution". The Eurasian Empire will be constructed "on the fundamental principle of the common enemy: the rejection of Atlanticism, strategic control of the USA, and the refusal to allow liberal values to dominate us."[9]

Military operations play relatively little role. The textbook advocates a sophisticated program of subversion, destabilization, and disinformation spearheaded by the Russian special services. The operations should be assisted by a tough, hard-headed utilization of Russia's gas, oil, and natural resources to bully and pressure other countries.[9]

...

  • Ukraine should be annexed by Russia because "Ukraine as a state has no geopolitical meaning, no particular cultural import or universal significance, no geographic uniqueness, no ethnic exclusiveness, its certain territorial ambitions represents an enormous danger for all of Eurasia and, without resolving the Ukrainian problem, it is in general senseless to speak about continental politics". Ukraine should not be allowed to remain independent, unless it is cordon sanitaire, which would be inadmissible.[9]

...

The book emphasizes that Russia must spread anti-Americanism everywhere: "the main 'scapegoat' will be precisely the U.S."

In the United States:

  • Russia should use its special services within the borders of the United States to fuel instability and separatism, for instance, provoke "Afro-American racists". Russia should "introduce geopolitical disorder into internal American activity, encouraging all kinds of separatism and ethnic, social and racial conflicts, actively supporting all dissident movements – extremist, racist, and sectarian groups, thus destabilizing internal political processes in the U.S. It would also make sense simultaneously to support isolationist tendencies in American politics".[9]

Always comes down to Teddy, Abe, and Washington. Though I think Teddy and Abe are out in front.
