How many mobilizations has Ukraine undergone? Six or seven so far. That should tell you something. There's been an uninterrupted flow of weapons and ammunition into Ukraine for seven months straight. Yet, their soldiers are without sufficient armor and low on ammo. That should tell you more. Russia prefers to use stand-off weapons like long range artillery and precision missiles, where they have a huge advantage, against heavily fortified positions rather than throwing infantry into difficult and bloody battles. Ukraine, on the other hand, has taking a beating behind defensive positions down to the last man. Only since Sept. has their offensives made modest territorial gains in open, largely uninhabited, countryside and has come at enormous cost in lives and machines. Ukraine relies on billions of dollars from Westerners for everything from weapons and ammo, to salaries for the military and government services. They are literally a basket case being held together with twine. Now that their cities are gripped by darkness with plunging temperatures around the corner, we'll see how long their appetite for conflict lasts.
