Sure, if you believe Russia-1 and the Russian MoD. Which anyone who has sense does not. It's all well and good to be skeptical of what Ukraine's MoD puts out. But it's also a good bet to assume everything that the Russian MoD says is a lie.

June 5, 20232 yr TBF, the reason Russia has been failing is due to the fact they are fighting a multi front war: Video Shows Russian Colonel Admitting To Attack on Wagner Group Amid Feud
June 5, 20232 yr It's a probing attack. How's Russia doing in Svatove? More human waves getting sacrificed to Putler.
June 5, 20232 yr Yea, two brigades is a probing attack. Remember, this offensive is supposed to take Crimea. Nothing short of that can be claimed as a success.

It wasn't two brigades. It was a handful of mechanized infantry and a tank. Russia of course claims it was more, and that hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers are dead. Without any evidence. We have no idea what the aims of the offensive are. It's going to depend entirely on where they're able to break through. Crimea would be awesome to take back from the imperialist Putlerlites, but it would be a tall order for this offensive.

I have dip**** on ignore, but its very unlikely Crimea is the target of the upcoming counter offensive.. Step 1 will be to sever the land bridge.

So, if taking Crimea isn't the goal, why 'severe the land bridge'? To what end? The cost in lives for Ukraine is going to be enormous.

Russians had packed parade uniforms expecting a short drive to Kyiv. the more you deny history the stupider you look.
June 5, 20232 yr And let's not forget this fun little article the Kremlin had scheduled for release days after the invasion proclaiming victory and reunification: https://web.archive.org/web/20220226051154/https://ria.ru/20220226/rossiya-1775162336.html They expected this invasion of Ukraine to be brief. They are now entrenched in a war they never expected to last against a foe better armed and motivated than they believed possible.

June 5, 20232 yr https://www.newsweek.com/wagner-head-provoking-open-war-kremlin-forces-ex-russian-commander-1804385 Quote Former Russian commander Igor Girkin on Sunday continued to accuse the Wagner Group of inching toward conflict with Russian forces...."If Prigozhin remains the head of Wagner, the mutiny will come quickly and radically," Girkin said in a video shared by the WarTranslated watchdog group. "A coup attempt has been declared...What will happen next, I don't know, especially as Wagner is urgently withdrawn to rear bases...The danger of a looming coup is clear." I just think it's cool that this dude gets to wear his Minecraft jammies to work.

Putin gave a speech the day the SMO began where he outlined the Russian objectives. There's nothing about taking Kyiv in three days. He said the goals were de-Not-z-fication and demilitarization. Whatever others may say outside the Kremlin is immaterial. I do think the Russians hoped for a short conflict. The speed of the intial invasion suggests they looked for Kyiv to come to the negotiating table fairly quickly. It almost worked. They had an agreement in Istanbul before Boris the clown flew in and ordered Zelensky to withdraw from the talks. At that point, the Russians shifted to a strategy of attrition to accomplish the objectives.
