The second the folks entered the capitol on Jan. 6th, they lost any claim to credibility in protesting. You'll get no argument from me, about that. The most you'd ever find from me was a call to open the election books for inspection. You'd think both sides would be in favor of that. Non-brainwashed GOPers would have to accept it and DNCers would love to cram it down GOPers throats. But even asking for something like this, would have caused the spittle to fly on your screaming response, I'm sure. My point with the picture, was that there are wackos on BOTH sides. Given power, the extremes of BOTH sides would abuse it. For example, take these folks(found with a simple search term). Give them the power, OTHER than just influencing young minds and just imagine what they would do... https://www.thecollegefix.com/stanford-student-senator-says-white-people-need-to-be-eradicated/ https://nypost.com/2021/10/29/rutgers-professor-calls-white-people-villains/ https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4941153/user-clip-kamau-kambon-calls-extermination-white-people https://www.thecollegefix.com/usc-professor-defends-tweet-promoting-violence-whiteness/ https://www.cbsnews.com/news/drexel-university-professor-under-fire-for-white-genocide-tweet/ https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/yale-says-lecture-fantasy-about-shooting-white-people-antithetical-school-n1269884 But keep on, keeping on, with your fingers in your ears, while riding your high horse. Thanks for the links. So, what you proved is that in our country of 350+ million people, there are people on the left who believe and say dumb, extremist things. Which, I don't think I could ever possibly disagree with. Now, once those people hijack their political party, from DNC party fundraising, straight up to the executive branch, and if the executive branch provokes those people to assault the capitol and install their extremist left-wing leader into the White House denying an election, then yes, you will have the "both sides", apples to apples comparison. Until then, the comparison falls short. Right? Because while there are dumb people on the left who say extreme things, a right wing president provoked an extremist assault on our nation's capitol, and is still backed by a political party that controls half our government. Again...not quite apples to apples.

I voted in the VA primary, you don't pick a political party in VA. I chose the GOP ballot and voted for someone other than Trump. I am not beholden to Trump, I am very sad that the election has come to this. But I already know your response to me ... Jan. 6

Jan. 6 Yeah it's an unfortunate reality for any attempt at a "both sides" argument. There's "voter intimidation" as represented by two Northeast Philly bootleg black panthers. And there's voter intimidation represented by 50% of our country's political power supporting a conspiracy-fueled attack on the Capitol. Maybe at some point in your life we'll be far enough away from that, so you can sweep it under the rug. But we aint there yet.

We already Fn gave them the intel on it. It’s standard practice for the US. We tipped off the Iranians awhile back, too. it’s like when the Feds were wiretapping the mob. Whenever a credible threat was made, the Feds tipped off the rival mobster about it. This isn’t new.

It was a direct assault on the institution of democracy in this country by MAGA. Whatever sins Dems have or have not committed in your mind are pretty mild by comparison. It's all well and good to point out that both sides have bad actors who would take any advantage to gain or maintain power. But if you're drawing any moral equivalence between the two sides at large here and now in 2024 then your judgement is compromised. In 2016 when Trump won, there was plenty of grumbling by members of the electorate and even some number of elected reps. But Hillary conceded within a day, and Joe Biden himself slapped down every attempt to thwart democracy from his own party members and there was a peaceful transition of power from election day through inauguration. In 2020, well, that's not how Trump handled things. Not all sins are equal, and refusal to acknowledge that MAGA's transgressions represent a much more significant threat to this nation than any others is fantasyland stuff.
March 23, 20242 yr I know people like CountBlah in my own family. They went years and years where Democrats were a laughing stock and Republicans were essentially the only adult in the room. Then Trump came along and while initially they loved how he made liberals mad, eventually they started to get nervous with every one of his missteps. The noise soon became too loud and after he lost in 2020 they found themselves a bit lost for the first time. They still hate Democrats with every fiber of their being though, so now all they can do is attempt to "both sides" every single thing that might paint the Republican party in a bad light, which in the era of Trump comes across as laughably ridiculous. "Look at these two Black Panthers from 16 years ago! See?! Both sides, guys. Both sides!" Of course, the undeniable issue with Trump is that guy is just so far beyond the pale that nothing is even remotely equivalent with the insanity and chaos this guy is responsible for. He is an absolute cancer and the GQP is nowhere close to being in remission. And deep down inside they know it, but their allegiance to their party won't allow them to ever vote for a Democrat, so all they're left with now is the misery of having to watch Trump be the reason why their party will continue to stack up losses year after year.
March 23, 20242 yr 36 minutes ago, we_gotta_believe said: "Look at these two Black Panthers from 16 years ago! See?! Both sides, guys. Both sides!" It's absurd. Basically there's a built in assumption that if Republicans are bad Democrats must be equally bad, and if you dig enough yeah you find transgressions. But there is no equivalent of Trump, MTG, Lara Trump taking over the RNC, J6, etc on the left. The closest thing to adults in the room are Biden and the Dems. It's a difficult reality for some to face, and sad, but if you're a realist that's the truth of it.
