Vance came right out and said it. The Trump administration just created Russian propaganda to spread to the world. Hopefully the rest of the world sees it the right way. I will add that preceding this meeting trump softened his stance on his "dictator" remark, and said he thinks they will get along quite well today. More to make it look like this blowout was all Zelensky's fault. This was all pre-planned. This was the way the administration wanted the meeting to go today.
February 28, 2025Feb 28 One man is trying to bully a weaker man into giving up his countries minerals. The other man, a desperate soul, is trying to save his country after three long hard years of death and destruction. @Procus Yes, Zelensky could have handled it better. However, he didn't deserve the treatment he was given.

He cost himself greatly because now he's going to have to give up even more just to get things back on track. I've always had a great deal of sympathy for the situation he's found himself in but he shot himself in the foot today. Zelensky is desperate and he knows Putin. Trump's offer is a signed death warrant for the Ukraine. He had no other option but to try something. In the end, Putin is playing chess and Trump is playing checkers. Putin knows that Zelensky can't agree to Trump without a defense guarantee from the US. The entire deal proposal is a setup for in Putin's favor.

If those couldn't be given, I don't sign the deal. I am guessing the WH knew this to be the case.

Sure Zelensky is desperate, he doesn't want to admit he lost but he has. He had almost no shot to begin with but the final nail was driven into the coffin when Biden allowed Russia and China to get cozy.

If his country survives with a guarantee he has clearly won even if he has to give up some land. I've heard the mineral rights argument before but that won't do it. No one even knows how much value is down there at this point. In any case, if the minerals were already a defense guarantee then what is preventing that being specifically included? I think that is the proof that it isn't a guarantee.

Yeah, no one in history has ever, or would ever, declare that victory. His only victory is to lose less.

The math doesn't work in the Ukraine's favor. The best only chance was when the Wagner group semi-rebelled. Putin's grip on power is too strong and the Russian people appear unwilling to challenge it. The European military strength is not strong enough to support Ukraine without US backing.

Yeah, for sure. 100% no way the Ukraine survives without a defense agreement from the US. That's is exactly the point. Zelensky and The Ukraine have ZERO chance of surviving without it.

He's going to finish with more land than he started and have a new relationship with China. The only way Putin "loses" is if an international force joins Ukraine and fights a hot war against him. Unfortunately then we all lose through nuclear annihilation.

If all he gets after three years is the eastern 3rd and with his economy and his army in tatters and with a US defense agreement in place then he most certainly hasn't achieved a victory of any sort.
