August 17Aug 17 The Kremlin reportedly instructed Russian media outlets to present the Alaska summit as a meeting between two superpowers and to prepare Russian society for the possibility of a protracted war in Ukraine. Russian opposition outlet Meduza reported on August 16 that the Kremlin disseminated an instruction manual to pro-government and state-run media outlets in Russia after the summit to report that "no deal [on Ukraine] was reached at the summit — and that no deal could have been reached."[23] Meduza reported that the Kremlin instructed media outlets to claim that Trump and Putin did not discuss "Ukrainian and European demands for an unconditional ceasefire," that Trump urged Zelensky to make a deal with Putin, and that Trump greeted Putin on the tarmac as a gesture of goodwill. Meduza reported that the Kremlin instructed media outlets to describe the meeting as "historic" because "Putin restored Russia's status as a great superpower" and to describe Trump and Putin as "equals." Meduza quoted the manual as claiming that "the revival of Russia’s power and authority is the result of recent years," likely referring to Russia's aggression in Ukraine, long-term military reorganization efforts, and strengthened ties with states including Iran, North Korea, and the People's Republic of China (PRC) since February 2022.[24] Meduza reported that the Kremlin issued a separate instruction manual before the summit stating that media outlets should emphasize that Putin spoke with Trump about "Kyiv's unwillingness to negotiate," that Russia is ready for any scenario in the talks, and that it is Putin — rather than Trump —who sets the agenda for US-Russian relations.[25] Meduza reported that the pre-summit manual instructed reporters to emphasize that the United States and Russia have many avenues for "mutual understanding" and that bilateral cooperation would not be limited to the "Ukrainian issue." A media strategist working with the Russian Presidential Administration’s political team told Meduza that the Russian government aimed to prepare the Russian public for the possibility that the summit would fail to pause fighting and emphasize that Putin is setting the terms — cohering with ISW's long-held assessment that the Kremlin is not setting informational conditions for Russians to accept an end to the war that does not amount to a Russian victory on Putin's terms.Thorough summary of Alaska.Institute for the Study of WarInstitute for the Study of War
August 17Aug 17 6 hours ago, DaEagles4Life said:/ APEuropean and NATO leaders announced Sunday that they'll be joining President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Washington for crucial talks with President Trump, rallying around the Ukrainian leader after his exclusion from Mr. Trump's summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The remarkable move — with one European leader after another announcing that they'll be at Zelenskyy's side when he travels to the White House on Monday — was an apparent effort to ensure that the meeting goes better than the last one in February, when Trump berated the Ukrainian president in a heated Oval Office encounter.https://www.cbsnews.com/news/zelenskyy-trump-white-house-meeting-european-leaders/I LOVE it. So he wont be able to outnumber Zelenski and make fun of him like last time. This is excellent.
August 17Aug 17 I would really love it if Zelenski shows up without a suit again. I think he should wear shorts and a tank top this time.
August 17Aug 17 This could all go to hell pretty quick if they make it look like Zelenski is unwilling to negotiate again tomorrow. But, these are some pretty major concessions reportedly made by russia. Witkoff speaks on them at about 6:07

There are no big concessions on Russia’s part. They may frame it that way, but it’s really nothing.

August 18Aug 18 The one thing that keeps me wondering is why it was reported that a ton of Trump's staff came out of the meeting ashen faced and why a bunch of foreign leaders are coming with Zelenskyy to Washington. Fox News is quiet about the meeting. It's almost like somethings up, but I can't put my finger on what it could be.

That might not have been all though, as Vladi probably finished the job by administering his famous golden shower on Trumpy’s head.

August 18Aug 18 You know its bad for Trump when Greenskeeper is pulling a stomach muscle from laughing at the screen all day.
August 18Aug 18 Are any of you saving old news articles for this? When did Putin first invade? Was it before or after Ukraine threatened to join Nato?
August 18Aug 18 Actually think the meeting between Z. and Trump went better than one could expect. Even though Trump had his usual "weird” moments, he did pretty well in my view. There is some hope that a united front can end this war on somewhat fair grounds.Only one problem persists: Putin will pull Trump back towards the dark side when they have their talk afterwards. I just have no faith in him staying firm when Putin is on the other end…
