January 15Jan 15 Disney's Hulu Live + TV and Fubo to combine Quote Disney will own 70% of Fubo By Aislinn Murphy Disney moving away from 'woke' stance improving business, MDB Capital president says Disney and FuboTV on Monday announced a planned merging of Hulu Live + TV and Fubo. The two businesses will form a combined virtual multichannel video programming distributor (MVPD) company that "will operate under the Fubo publicly traded company name," the companies said. Disney will have a 70% ownership stake in Fubo. The combination "will facilitate an enhanced choice of programming packages and address a variety of consumer preferences at attractive price points," according to Disney and Fubo. It will be run by Fubo CEO David Gandler and his management team. He described the planned merging of Fubo and Hulu Live + TV as a "win for consumers, our shareholders, and the entire streaming industry." Disney and Fubo said the latter will set up a "new Sports & Broadcast service" that will air ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS and ESPN+ via a carriage agreement between the two. The vMVPD company "will negotiate carriage agreements with content providers for both Hulu + Live TV and Fubo services independently from Disney," according to the companies. When they complete the deal, consumers will still have the option to get Fubo and Hulu + Live TV as "separate offerings," they also said. Fubo has been available since 2015. Meanwhile, Hulu first introduced Hulu + Live TV in 2017. Disney includes the service in bundles with Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+. Fubo and Hulu + Live TV boast over 6.2 million North American subscribers combined, according to Disney and Fubo. At the same time the two companies announced the planned merging of Hulu + Live TV and Fubo, they also said a settlement had been reached for the legal action Fubo had taken last year over ESPN, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery’s joint Venu Sports streaming platform. The combination of Fubo and Hulu + Live TV will be "subject to regulatory approvals, Fubo shareholder approval, and the satisfaction of other customary closing conditions," Disney and Fubo said. The new vMVPD company is "projected to be well-capitalized and cash-flow positive immediately after the closing of the Transaction," they said.

Yeah, I have it but once the Eagles have finished playing for the 2024 season (whenever that may be), I'm going to either pause it or cancel it. I only use it because I have it set up for Philly locals.

How do you claim to be all about sports then get rid of 2 of the biggest channels for baseball and basketball? Lol

I know some people that have them that swear by them but I don’t know - something about it doesn’t seem right to me either. I’ve read some stuff online about them making your network susceptible and also some stuff saying it’s only a matter of time before they don’t work as intended

January 21Jan 21 We can distinguish between streaming that replicates cable/satellite channels vs not having that at all and using non-cable services. I only pay roughly $38/month. Family shared Netflix $15, Peacock $10, Paramount $2.50, Disney/Hulu/ESPN+ $16 (deal through Verizon, paid annually, shared with family member we take turns paying every other year). Prime "free" with shipping account.

Saying, oh now I have to have YouTube TV, Netflix, Hulu, prime, etc, and that adds up to more than cable. In my mind, Netflix and the like are all akin to HBO/Cinemax back in the day.

Saying, oh now I have to have YouTube TV, Netflix, Hulu, prime, etc, and that adds up to more than cable. In my mind, Netflix and the like are all akin to HBO/Cinemax back in the day. Right. The early cord cutters were simply not watching cable/satellite, cancelling and using streaming services. When I first cut DirecTV I had Netflix, the cheap (or was it free?) version of Hulu where you can only watch things the next day not live which I didn't care about because I used to record everything to watch later anyway. Eventually things like Sling and YouTube TV came out that replicated cable channels just without the equipment. So when people say having "all these streaming services" is the same or more as cable, but they are paying for cable/satellite channels that's not the same thing.
January 21Jan 21 What I really want someday is some type of service for sports that are on cable and network channels. The same way you would have to pay an extra $5 or $10 for the "sports tier" or news, kids, etc. with cable. A package for just sports channels would be nice. I don't know if YouTube TV has anything like that? People complain that they're putting games on Prime or Peacock and you have to pay extra, but for those of us that don't have cable/satellite we don't get games that are on ESPN, TNT, TBS.
February 14Feb 14 Im a bit tired of the youtube TV price increases. Now with the new dispute with CBS, theyll probably work it out and increase the price yet again. I dont really turn my TV on during the day. At night my wife and I will usually watch netflix. Sometimes something on Amazon. If theres really nothing on, then its Shark tank on youtube TV. Otherwise, I only use it for sports. I want the locals, Fox, CBS, ABC, NBC. And I want nbc philly for 6ers games, and eagles post game live. That is it. Thats all I need. Any recommendations for cheapest streaming service that will offer locals, and some shark tank when in a pinch?

Not sure the price comparisons, but I’ve greatly enjoyed DirecTV Stream and I think in 3 years the price has only increased once by maybe $5-7

It seems there is nothing that offers all locals for cheaper than youtube and hulu which are both at $82 Not that I can find anyway....

Thats a lot of freaking channels to lose especially after like you said the price increase... I signed a petition to keep these channels and also sent a complaint about taking all those channels away immediately following the price increase. If nbc Philly sports goes to peacock i think ill be done with YouTube tv .
