Remember the day he signed. Was driving to a dentist appointment and it came over WIP. Started beeping the horn like an idiot.

I am very curious to see how they use Reddick.  He’s a really good pass rusher…the best on the team.  And he’s on a really manageable deal for what he brings as a pass rusher.

But he went to Carolina on a 1 year deal on the heels of a 12.5 sack season.  And then he follows with 11 sacks…and comes here on a reasonable deal.

There is a reason teams aren’t beating down the door for him; they don’t know exactly what to do with him.  He’s not going to slip into coverage like a traditional 4-3 OLB. And he’s not going to stop the run or set the edge like a full time edge guy.

So he’s a chess piece.  This kind of investment in a chess piece is an interesting move for a DC that wouldn’t move guys around and wouldn’t blitz.  Maybe he pathologically kept it simple in year 1 and opens it up this year.

The success or failure of this move largely depends on exactly how he’s used in this defense.  If he’s moved around creatively, he could be a weapon.  If they park him in one spot, he may be a liability.

This play in game between Notre dame and Rutgers has been crazy

That’s honestly how I feel. They will all at least give our WRs a better chance to develop. Baker being my least favorite, followed by a Murray. But Derek Carr doesn’t seem like that bad of an idea. He’s a MUCH better holdover than what we have. But then again, I’d just assume go with the stache for a year.

Carr isn't going to leave LV and if all the drama circulating around Murray is real I don't really want him near this team. Dude is a headcase.

Problem with head case QBs is you never know when they're gonna implode and take the team with them.

We saw it with Wentz, fortunately Howie was able to extract them from the hole.

We've seen it with Watson in Houston, think he'll be happy anywhere he goes? Same with Murray, Mayfield . . .

The QB is your de facto team leader, when he checks out, the team usually follows.

Which is why intangibles probably matter more with QBs than any other position, when the QB isn't focused and dedicated, neither will be the rest of the team.

Nice, thorough list of what’s out there. Plenty of players who can help. Just not at safety.

Lots of stopgaps. Very few I'd sign to a multi-year deal. Juju and Donte Jackson are interesting, but ehh.

I'd probably rather re-sign Nelson, take a shot at a LB,  and try to swing a trade for a S.

I know it’s late but…

He is, he’s monitoring situations

Saw this elsewhere…

Sirius NFL radio (Jim Miller and Pat Kirwin) saying Browns offer for Watson was 3 1sts, a 2nd, Denzel Ward, and Kareem Hunt.

So they’ve alienated their QB, RB, and CB. If it doesn’t work out I wouldn’t mind trading for Ward.

They’ll put him in the 9 just like they did with Sweat last season and expect to see him drop into coverage on curls once in awhile.  They signed him as a pass rusher and unless Gannon is an idiot, Reddick will be rushing the QB most of the time.
His durability was a big plus, he’s only missed 1 game in his career.

It’ll help when watson becomes a teammate

The fear would be if Gannon uses him a lot in coverage vs. letting him pass rush.  Gannon says the right things in press conferences such as using players to their strengths, but then he tends to do the opposite in games.  And, if he is at LB and if Gannon has him pass rush almost all the time it gives the OC of the other team an advantage because of that tendency.  They would be better off using him primarily as a rush DE.

I don’t necessarily disagree. Think they’re pretty equivalent.

I don’t either but like what are we even arguing about. They both suck. Hence the gif.

That is absolutely freaking crazy. I'm glad the Eagles walked away.

But that can make your entire pass rush predictable, and make him a liability. If he can’t play the run and can only pass rush, the offense knows his responsibility every time he’s lined up. That’s why guys like Trent Cole and Brandon Graham get underrated. Because they can do both and don’t necessarily rack up stats. Don’t get me wrong, I like the signing. But he can’t be used for only one purpose. It’s like having a WR that only runs go routes or a big RB that only gets used in short yardage

Good morning, my fellow Bloggers. How do you do?

Probably the best signing of this entire free agent period. Excellent.
