The question becomes.... why do these players turn down the Eagles "In a matter of 5 minutes time"

Who else besides Watson?

It's not a big deal if he doesnt want to come here.  We shouldn't be offended as it's his choice.  Maybe he doesn't like the cold weather or doesn't like how harsh the fans and media can be at times or maybe he just wants to play in the south near home.

He's a great player but probably a bit of a diva which wouldn't fly around here so maybe it's better.

Browns are in a tough spot with Mayfield.  Dorsey drafted him much higher than he should have gone, and he hasn't played well enough to earn a second contract.  He gives the ball away far too often -- 56 INT against 92 TD passes, to go along with 27 fumbles -- and he trusts his arm way too much to fit balls in where the throw shouldn't be made.

He was actually playing fairly well last season before he hurt his shoulder.  Then he decided to keep playing instead of getting surgery and his numbers crashed the rest of the year.  Looks like they'll have to let him play his 5th year and walk at the end of the season, with no compensation other than being out of his contract.

That's the risk of the draft.  I'm a believer in drafting and developing your own franchise QB, but the 2018 QB draft is a good illustration of the risks:

#1 Mayfield -- won't get a 2nd contract

#3 Sam Darnold -- mostly uninspired play and shipped off

#7 Josh Allen -- franchise player and MVP candidate

#10 Josh Rosen -- draft bust on his way out of the league

#32 Lamar Jackson -- franchise player, MVP winner (although I don't think he'll ever get the Ravens to the top)

Yup. It’s not just the risk that they might not pan out. It’s also the risk you might have to trade significant draft capital to get that chance that he may or may not pan out. Plus you also have to add in the factors outside of your control where you might not have the best assets to move up to get the guy or a trade partner willing to move down with you. There’s so many different things that go into that that have to go your way. That’s why I’ve been a proponent if there’s a quarterback available in the trade market that you actually love and covet then go after him. I am not against drafting a quarterback and developing him but there’s definitely high risk trade or drafting

The josh Allen and lamar component of this is the reason i see willis getting over drafted this year. It’s gonna happen.

If he goes to the falcons I’m going laugh. That team might actually be worse than the Texans roster and future considering what they have to give up to get him with that roster as currently constructed. I’d be shocked if it weren’t the saints.

Definitely worse than the Texans roster.

He clearly wanted a warm climate in a dome preferably, close as possible to home. We check 0 of those boxes.

Keep forgetting about Seumalo

Seumalo plays RG unless they draft a Green, Kinnard, Parham, Zion, etc. He's your top IOL backup if the rookie beats him out.

I guess the only good part about moving Dickerson to RG is that he’s closer to Lane, and could be his replacement down the road.
It makes sense for him not to play center while Hurts is the QB because Hurts likely can’t see over or around him.

I do wonder about that aspect. Vick made it work but paid his debt to society and showed contrition. Not sure Watson can do the same legally speaking.

Haslem has a terrible reputation and got a meeting. I doubt Lurie was a problem for Watson.

I think the only reason cleveland got it is because he probably really respects Berry their GM and that roster is an instant SB contender with him. Their offensive line is very good. They have two really good running backs. They have Cooper and I’m guessing he’s going to bring with him someone like Will Fuller or Robinson. Add on their defense is solid-good. If we are just talking about best roster that he could go to it’s the Cleveland Browns with the saints second.

I’d be surprised if Dickerson is the RT of the future. I think he’s either center or guard. I really believe in the next two drafts that Jeff stoutland is going to get a guy in 2-6 rounds that he can groom behind Lane to eventually take over for him. I’ve been on that thought process since i believed they’d trade dillard this past year.

Still don't know who HonestNFL is or if he's even legit(I can tell you his talent evaluation is horrendous)

But if he's right, it has more to do with the city/market he'd be playing in and not the team or organization. Those with an agenda will push the durrrr "hE DiDn'T wANa PlAy fOr HoWiE11!!11!!"(which is totally baseless) rhetoric, but it's far more likely the dude wanted no part of a media intense tough top 5 market and wanted to be closer to home.

Watson does not care about winning. See his interest in the Falcons.

That scenario is more likely, but when Dickerson is 100% from his ACL, (guys always say it’s almost 18 months before they feel back to normal) this next season, the staff will get a better idea on how well, or not well he moves.

If I was Howie I'd be comfortable making 3 picks at 15, 16, and 19.  It's a good range to fit the roster needs of the team.  Drafting one player at each level of the defense sounds good to me (although not realistic).

Take the best edge rusher available at 15 -- Johnson/Ojabo/Karlaftis

Take the best DB available at 16 -- Booth/Stingley/Hill

Take the best LB/WR available at 19 -- Lloyd/Dean/Burks/Williams -- I think we all know Howie will not be able to resist taking an offensive weapon with one of the picks.

Trade backs would be nice if there is a partner.  I'd prefer no trade-ups.  If it gets past pick 10 and Hamilton or Thibodeaux is still sitting there I could change my mind about that

I wouldn’t be surprised if we use a pick high on a versatile guard/center. Seumalo is only under contract for this year (voidable years after this year). I wouldn’t rule out they extend him or if there’s a potential trade with him to a team that’s needing of a solid-good offensive lineman (assuming they take a guard high early)

Dickerson isn't a tackle. He's an IOL.

I have no desire to see a R1 LB or WR. Give me Ojabo/Johnson, Booth/Stingley/Elam, and Devonte Wyatt.

He just dropped to R5

Sounds like teams are starting to be eliminated as Watson gets closer to choosing super secret pursuing team Eagles.

Yikes

Lots of legitimate criticism to Watson, but I got no issues with him  picking a team based on wanting to be as close to home as possible, which is clearly what he's doing. If he just wanted to win, or to go to a big market for ad deals there's many better fits than Car/Atl/NO.

Yeha totally baseless the suspect that a QB that is forcing his way out over issues with the FO wouldn't have interest in going to a team where the QB forced his way out due to issues with the FO.

It makes me nervous they have obvious interest in Burks already.  I don't mind him at all, but he's not among my top choices.

Do you think, if the Eagles miss on Davis and Wyatt, that Winfrey or even Leal could be there at #51?

Absolutely not

It's called "the draft." Not just landing 3 or 4 starters, but a half dozen solid backups who provide depth at low cost.

Last year 3 starters in Smith, Dickerson and Williams, but also McPhearson, Gainwell and Stoll. The others, remains to be seen, along with all the players he picked up such as Anderson, Chachere, Vincent, Awosika, Gowan, McCain, T Jackson and Minshew.

A lot of improvement every year comes from the guys on the PS or the back of the roster who make jumps their 2nd or 3rd season.

Guys from the 2020 off season who started games last year:  Hurts, Reagor, Watkins, Driscoll, Taylor, Wallace, Opeta, Epps.

You build a foundation, then add a few FAs as the roof, add the roof before finishing the foundation and the building tends to collapse.

That represents 5 years of drafting for Roseman.

What they are trying to do isn't uncommon in other industries.  I have worked with executives that, after taking a new role at a competitor, had to take garden leave.  Which is basically stay away for six months so that anything you know now becomes less relevant when you start at your new company.

The Eagles have every right to protect their proprietary knowledge and internal planning.

EDIT:  They were actually paid by the current employer to do nothing during the garden leave.  That's how important protecting the information is.

Well - I think non-compete clauses are different than companies colluding to not hire employees from one another.  That type of collusion, I think, violates anti-trust laws which is why an agreement between teams runs that same risk.

If he is limited to warm climates and domes, Philly is pretty much out of it.  Bit diva for me.  Better go to a team that will win home field advantage through the playoffs because it doesn’t sound like he will fare well in Green Bay or Buffalo in the playoffs.

He took a meeting with Cleveland who are neither a warm climate nor a dome.
