It's possible.  But one things for sure a championship contending team is far more likely in the future of the next few years if we use this draft to add some young building blocks to the defensive side of the ball.  You build a better roster and you will have a better chance competing against contending teams.

I actually agree that building the roster is the better option but if Watson didn't have the issues he has, I think the Eagles would be foolish not to try to trade for him.

I don’t think they had an elite defense but it was good. better than the eagles. They actually that hurt because Trevor Siemian and Taysom hill are worse at quarterback then jalen hurts and caught up to them in some games and put their defense in tough spots.

The Saints offense also had a higher TOP than the Eagles, which helps the defense.

I actually agree with you on roster part (elite defense I’d argue good). The saints last year were missing a QB. When Jameis got hurt they were 5-2. After that they were 4-6. Their defense finished fourth in points per game allowed and seventh in total yards. Their oline is good (I’m guessing they find a suitable replacement for Armstead if he leaves). If Michael Thomas comes back and kamara doesn’t go to jail that’s two good weapons. And I expect them to likely bring in someone like  Robinson or will Fuller (apparently really good friends) who seem to be waiting on what Deshaun Watson is going to do.

I'd say elite, at the very least one of the best defenses in the NFC.  They completely shut down Rodgers (3 points), Brady (0 points) and Wilson (10 points) last season.

I've always been a fan of acquiring rare athletes provided the value makes sense. I love David Ojabo and Jordan Davis for that reason.

But man, the Eagles gotta do something at other positions on D or they're gonna keep getting papercut to death by good QBs.

Fair enough, I was just saying... I like Cleveland.  And I don't make 8 figures.  My paycheck is missing a few of those zeroes.

They need back 7 help in the worst way.  At least they targeted Murray but targeting and acquiring are 2 different things.

against playoff teams the saints gave up 17.8 points on average those games that includes the eagles game giving up 33 (siemian threw a pick 6– they had thrown 3 pick 6s in those games against playoff teams— actually eagles, bills and Dallas games back to back to back they had three pick 6s).  The eagles were all the way up at 30 even with the pick 6s taken out

When you look at the saints TOP before Jameis got hurt it was close to 30:30 mins after it was close to that. However a major reason it’s nearly identical is the jets and falcons games completely skews it. They had possession for 39 mins against both the jets who are god awful and the falcons in week 18 with nothing to play for. Those 2 games make it close. Cause without them it’s down closer to 28:10 which would be ranked around houston at 28th in the league.

It's weird to me that they don't just bring Jameis back. ACL's aren't as bad as they used to be, I'd think he'd be recovered by season open, and he's not a guy who relied on mobility anyway. I thought he was a good fit there, though maybe that has more to do with Payton.

Did you see Doug announce that Press Taylor was coming back...only to be trumped a few days later?  Because that wasn't a rumor...It happened.

I believe that's what they call circumstantial evidence but if you want to form your opinion on it that's fine.

Lol, what crazy world do you live in?

Kyle Pitts is actually just talking about another BLM riot.

I think the problem with Jameis Winston is that you’re limited because he is turnover prone. Maybe the saints got that out of him over the last two years but i think In the back of their minds it’s always there. Also their offense was sporadic with him out there. They scored 38, 7, 21 (pick six by defense otherwise 28 vs. New England), 21,33 and 13. So they were averaging 22.2 points per game on offense prior to his injury.  I think with Deshaun Watson their ceiling is much higher than it is with Jameis Winston especially if Thomas and kamara actually play.

Watson is far better than Winston, no doubt. Just the cost to acquire Watson has to be taken into account. And Winston did what he did without Thomas, who would obviously represent a massive talent upgrade over what they had at WR this year. They could also look to the draft to add more WR talent to help Winston. I understand why they'd want Watson, I just think going with Winston and building up around would be better.

Everyone on Twitter. Nothing official or verified though.

Once Watson picks a team I expect free agency to pick up again. Hopefully Eagles get Honey Badger or ARob
