There are a lot of 2nd (or 3rd, deppending on your perspective) tier starting QB's on the move this offseason.  Is that because there is more starting QB dissatisfaction than usual and we can expect an early run on a mediocre QB draft class?  Or is that because teams do not intend to draft a QB this year and want to find their marginal improvement with flawed vets?

yes

I have a draft question for the board.  Why is Jordan Davis now being shown as mid to late first round?  UGA is one of the teams I was able to watch a few times.  This guy looked like a big time difference maker, not just a heavy 0 tech, or 2-gap guy who can't move.  He impacts the entire game and in college he couldn't be single blocked.  I saw that he absolutely nutted the athletic testing... doesn't even seem possible at his size.

Questions about his motor, from what I understand.

Any team that trades for Watson is  not necessarily looking at the immediate future but rather the next 10 years.

Atlanta would probably stink for the next couple years until they can rebuild their team.  But at least they'd have a QB to build around.

With what picks are they building it around? It’s gonna cost you at least 3 first round picks (that’s what was offered to the Texans last year before the legal issues hit and they didn’t accept it) with a Team devoid of talent on offense and defense. This isn’t just one side of the ball is bad. Their entire team outside of Kyle Pitts, jarrett, terrell and jones is bad. Like Houston Texans type of bad roster. And they were trying to unload jarrett. And it’s gonna be hard to trade Matt Ryan because people know you have to do it to bring in Watson and he’s on the decline. So the value is massively decreased

And they’ve been trying to fix that offensive line since 2017. They had picks and they spent money and still haven’t done it. And their defense was bottom five this year.

yes it’s for the next 10 years. however you haven’t been able to fix the problems with your team when you had picks, had cap and you had Matt Ryan who was in his prime. Matt Ryan was pretty good from 2017-2019.

if I were Atlanta I would totally do it because quarterback is the most important position. However for Deshaun Watson that is one of the worst moves you could make. You literally are right back to where you started with the texans except have a better owner.  go look at that roster and tell me they are better than the Texans are as constructed with him down 3 first round picks and probably players going back to Houston? I would argue of all the teams that were mentioned Eagles, Seahawks, Saints, Falcons, Carolina and Browns that the Falcons are the worst long term and short term.

I've seen mocks with the Eagles passing on this guy three times.  It seems to be like he should be in the discussion in the top 5.

If the Eagles have to run it back with Hurts and compete for another wild card berth, and no draft QBs are worthy, I hope they can draft impact players at any position, and especially valuable positions.  Edge rusher, OL, sure, but a guy like this at DT impacts the entire defense in multiple ways.

Wondering if anyone else saw this guy similarly or if there is something I am missing about him.

I prefer Wyatt.

2 down player....Motor is a concern.  Because he's a little large.  Only since his combine showing has he elevated back up into the mid 1st.

Don't forget he's in his 40's

I actually think the Texans have a better roster than Atlanta overall.

I'm not sure how it will play out but like I said they will probably stink the next couple years, maybe more.  But who knows, crazier things have happened.

Right on... I figured there had to be a personality or effort issue.  I don't see him as a two down player though, like most guys his size... not based on when I saw him, I disagree with that assessment.  I saw a guy that destroys people and gets in the backfield, that the play always has to go away from...

I saw an interview with him on NFL network seemed to have the right focus and said the right things, but of course they are coached on what to say nowadays so who knows.  I figured there had to be some other risk factor... otherwise I didn't see why he wouldn't be right at the top of the draft.

If I’m the colts i try to get something with him done now with watson taking his sweet time. Cause if the saints miss out on watson I’m guessing that’s their fall back plan. so then you got to hope he decides between you and the saints but also more time goes by. However I’m guessing Winston won’t make a decision til this watson situation is resolved

I doubt they want another 1 year stop gap guy. Not that the other guys are better but I can see them wanting Jimmy G or Baker or someone of that mold that can be there for a few years.

Sounds dubious, if that drops him that would be fine with me

I think the one negative to drafting a DT top 15 is historically DTs have a shorter NFL lifespan than other positions.

Then again guys like Ted Washington,(39) Vince Wilfork(35) and Keith Traylor( 38) all played into their mid 30s.

Don’t get me wrong if I’m Atlanta I do it in a heartbeat. I don’t even think twice about it even if they suck. I think Atlanta will be in the hunt for a playoff spot simply because the NFC stinks. However I think watson runs into the same problem he had in Houston where they lacked quality picks due to trades like tunsil.

So how many QB's going to be drafted before us?  Gotta think the Texans, Seattle, Panthers, maybe the Browns now with all this Baker stuff.

We're gonna get Matt Ryan!!!

Id argue after this trade they are going to be in a much better position of overall roster than atlanta for the foreseeable future. If the Falcons had the roster that the Eagles did, I could understand it. Because you’re not completely rebuilding an entire offense and an entire defense. Falcons need an entire line, WRs and even RB along with safety, corner, linebacker and DL outside of jones, terrell and jarrett. The Falcons are at a point where they are completely rebuilding both wouldn’t have capital to do it but they’d have watson.

Maybe they do want baker. But i really don’t know if they want the baggage that comes with mayfield if they had issues with wentz last year off the field. Jimmy G i could see. However I’d rather take my chances on Jameis where all it costs me is cap to sign him and not cap and picks for a QB i don’t think is good enough to win a SB anyway

How many Howie's ?  image.thumb.png.11293341fda4d1200c4e5855af9b9f91.png

HOU like Davis Mills.

CAR at #6, SEA at #9 for sure.

Possibly Giants with one of their picks #5 or 7, WAS/MIN/CLE picks 11-13.

I see 3 gone before pick #15.  Pickett, Willis, Corral.

Now, if Howie and Nick decide Pickett is their next QB, the answer to your question might be zero -- because Howie will go up to #4 to draft him.

Trade up, trade down. Boom

We can trade Hurts to Atlanta for him.

Ok but how many voidable years?

Would rather the Eagles win 3 games next season than 9 games. Don't want Howie trading picks until 2027 to move up for CJ Stroud.
