Honestly, the Eagles should still trade for Ridley. Give up like a 7th and hope he gets reinstated in a year and you have a WR for 2023.

I think Mayfield has talent, but is sadly burdened with a 10-cent head.  He seems pretty sensitive, too.

The Philly fishbowl would eat him alive.

He had more weapons with Browns and couldn't get it done

Incorrect. I do agree if you count TE. Teams for 4 to 5 pass catchers. Goedert is absolutely a weapon. Quez is also good if he's our #5 pass catcher. Need 2 more.

People are too low on Quez.  He's only going to get better and last year was his first year of substantial play time due to injuries derailing his rookie year.

He might not be a #2 WR at this moment but he can absolutely develop into one and might take that jump this year. So I wouldn't break the bank on a WR but go get a big bodied vet like AJ Green who steps in at #2 and if Quez unseat a him then Quez unseat him.

I'm sure this won't last, but I'm 3 for 3 so far today.

Howie is good at managing this type of drama on the Eagles.

Mayfield is the Bizarro Jalen Hurts

Mayfield sees WR double-covered and a tiny window and says "no problem, my arm will get it there" ..... leading to a negative play

Hurts sees Smith running wide open with a DB trailing and says "no way, my arm can't get it there" .... leading to a negative play

Both quite frustrating to watch.

The Saints were something like $70 million over the cap at one time so they HAD so do something.  $110 million worth of something? Probably not.

I agree with that...but they were under the cap earlier today and then freed up another $30m of cap space, with no one obvious in mind (apart from the obvious obvious!)... 🙂

In a few seasons time the Saints will be at the cap place the Eagles are right now...but they are probably OK with that if it gets them a Championship.

I bet they lit up some cigars and kicked their feet back after the one meaningful acquisition they made.  Lurie patted his little pet on the back and was so proud of him, he figured he award him.  Now they have moved on to the draft and putting basketball hoops up in the press room.

It’s not really a bad thing if that’s it until the draft.  This team isn’t close to contending, no need to break the bank on unnecessary FAs.  Build the defense in the draft.

AJ Green on a 1-2 year deal is the way to go.  Play that veteran Torey Smith role while not being as washed.

Meh he had an ok year last year in a pass heavy Offense with a better passing QB than hurts, I mean he's probably better than reagor but Howie has had zero luck bringing in old vets to fill that Z role, don't think AJ would be the guy to break it.

I don't know that Hurts sees him.

He’s a FA in 2023

Howie is playing this brilliantly.  Bidding up free agents but "losing” the bidding war.  Making all those other teams join the Eagles in cap limitation.

Could be the slowest out of the gate, but I would also say most boring Eagles FA period I can remember. This is dreadful.

He'll be restricted.

If hurts were able to get him the ball in the playoff game he's over 200 yards for that game and nobody is sleeping on him.

I've liked Watkins since before he was drafted and agree I think he's only going to get better going forward, hopefully.

Or he’s just losing lol

Part of the reason the Eagles are where they are re the cap is subpar drafting. If the Saints draft better they won't be as reliant on free agents and extending people they shouldn't extend so perhaps less cap issues than the Eagles down the road.

Go turn on Madden and sign him there. Here in the real world, he's a 33 year old WR who serves no purpose on a rebuilding team.

I know, read the tweet. They want to sign him still.

I didnt want to spend big on Robinson anyway. As soon as he loses just 1 step hes Alshon all over again.

Because we are strapped….again.  And will be next year..once Howie restructures some guys to make room for all the 1 year stopgap deals he’s getting ready to do.

Haven’t seen updated cap since Reddick was made official. If we had a matching offer for Marcus Williams we must have some to play with.

Wonder if he's gaining weight at the request of Gannon and Co. so he can play more DE than standup 5th pass rusher.

If so not sure that's his best fit, he's been most effective as a standup rusher in 5 man Fronts And as a situational rusher In obvious pasdi g downs, if one expects him to line up as a DE in run downs and hold the point then one may be disappointed, I dont think that's his skill set, which would seem to be another in a long line of square peg round hole moves☹️

Why would they do that. Let the man play at his most successful weight and let him fly to the QB the way he has been, and doing a great job at... Sounds like another, round hole square peg situation, this team just loves to create.

Eagles simply aren't going to be the #1 choice for pass catchers when you have a QB who is a bad passer. Another downside of having Hurts around.
