This.  Every team (maybe outside of the AFCW) has Scotts and Wards on their roster.  As long as they are RB3 and WR4/5, that's OK.

Where we are needy is in the top-20 players on the roster.

No need to rush to sign them though.   But this team desperately needs an infusion of talent.  Scott and Ward have been kicking around here for 4 years.  Is there really no one that can offer more upside than those two?   It would be nice to have a RB3 and WR4/5 that can develop into RB2 or WR2/3.  Neither of them can... that window has passed.   They are essentially Reno Mahe.

I didn't realize Glennon had that much competition in the chase for Merton Hanks long neck trophy.

IMO, Boston Scott >>> Greg Ward

You are damning with faint praise again.

Steve Grogan's got nothing on him.

It’s even worse than that. Wards going on year 6

Davis Mills is Mekanek from He-Man. Big advantage as a QB to see over your lineman at will.

Mills is objectively better than Hurts; not sure where that puts the Eagles

At least it’s relatively cheap.

Likely the 7 seed in the weak NFC.

Why?

I had high hopes for Kvon Wallace after he was drafted, that he can't beat out this stiff isn't a good sign☹️

So, he costs about $5M against the cap this year, assuming Howie didn't spread this one out over two years, like he did with it last year.  ($2.4M dead carryover from the last one.)

The fact that you say you "don’t know” if it’s the route running of Watkins, Reagor, and JJAW (not sure why he is even listed) for your argument is crazy. You’re a smart dude. There is so much all 22 that shows our receivers running wide open all game. They are schemed open, and Hurts doesn’t have the cognitive ability to find them. Then you add that Dallas Goedert has too many drops?  He had some bad ones last season, but he’s open all the time and any QB would kill to have him as a weapon. Quez would have had 200 yards in the Wild card game if Hurts had any ability to read a defense, something he has not improved on at all in his college and pro career.

Every single bad trait you list above is why Jalen Hurts can’t throw a forward pass.  They are all part of it. He can’t read a defense, can’t go through progressions, sees ghosts behind the best OL in football last year, runs in circles for no reason, and he has weak arm strength.  He hasn’t improved any of these in 22 games. In fact, he may have gotten worse. He will only deter the development for a stud like Devonta Smith, who runs open consistently every game.  He is not the future, and his running ability is moot point. Who cares at this point?  Put in the QB that actually understands routes and hits receivers in stride to make sure they continue to develop.  That guy is already on the roster even though I understand he’s not the future. Then draft or trade for your future guy next season. Hurts does nothing for this team this season.

Do you have the all 22 or are you basing this on selected clips in the blog and twitter ‘verses?   Only ones on this forum I know have the all 22 are JR and me.  Yes, we see instances where receivers appear open.  Now sometimes, you have to slow it down an realize that the receiver is "open” because the ball is already targeting a different receiver and the defense has broke that way.  By the same token, if the ball is going to a primary and a secondary receiver is open, that isn’t necessarily the wrong move.  But timing and spot routes mean that the receiver is also to be in a specific spot.  Sometimes you look at a play and think WTF was he throwing to but then watch the play again and notice the defense redirecting the receiver that results in the receiver not being where he is supposed to be.  Sometimes you see two receivers way too close and realize one may have run the wrong route. I remember a few of these with Reagor this year.  Too close to Goedert or Smith or Watkins and a couple from JJAW.  So it probably isn’t just Hurts.

it is clear that what you mean by throw and what I mean are two different things.   MacMahon (remember him) couldn’t throw a forward pass.  Hurts has some serious flaws but he can complete some passes.  Both you and I have doubts on whether those flaws can be fixed.  We will both get to see because I suspect he is the starting QB this year.  I hope Minshew gets to compete in the offseason.  But regardless of who plays, I doubt the QB we will be seeing in 2024 is on the roster today.  Yep, 2024.  This is a three year rebuild.  Howie gutted the D that much and if he sees Harris as an answer at S, then he needs to share some of what he is smoking with me.

NFL reporter John Clayton died today. Sad news.

I like bringing back Boston Scott but I don't see the point in bringing back Harris.

Oh damn.  He had the best ESPN commercial.

This is just an absolute disgrace what this POS is doing with this roster.

Literally running back the same garbage.

Hello jackass!!!! This team is a pile of excrement.

Everyone's roasting this guy's neck, but I've never seen someone who looks like they're in desperate need of Rogaine AND a haircut before.

Nick talked about Ward as a leader in the WR room. Can they improve on him?  Absolutely.  But good value right now.

Scott is a cheap back up for on year.  I expect by the end of the year that he is the #4 RB but that draft choice I want is no guarantee, especially with Mr.Consensus’ tendency to just miss on his targets.
