Agreed. This may facilitate a trade but unsure why the recipient team wouldn’t have just…signed him.

Cox hasn't been an elite player in a couple of years. Paying him 14 or 15 million, whatever the actual number is, is bordering on terrible. It's still relatively early but as a guy who thinks Howie is a really good GM I am not even remotely impressed with his offseason so far.

Yep. Just an awful cherry on top.

Sadly over half of this place wanted this guy to be the face of our franchise for the next several years.

Unlikely. They probably saved on his cap number this year by releasing him and re-signing him. Otherwise I'm not sure why they would do it.

Tue fact that he got paid his full salary last year and will get his full practical 2022 salary because of the bonus is freaking gross. There is almost zero financial impact for Watson. I hope he gets taken to the cleaners in the civil suits. His inevitable six-game suspension isn’t enough.

For starters they're paying him $4 million less.

The NFL is so vindictive that I could see them "investigate” for an entire year, then suspend him in 2023.

Coming from you it makes me feel brilliant.  Are you aware of the positive impact you have on others?

But the savings don’t come until June 2nd

Could be the case. Im sure thats the case with Ed Ingram being off the board. And why he has Sanders lower. But he wrote about those guys having some sort of issues.

Has he written anything about Phillips off field yet?

Not that I am aware... but some things never seem to hit the daylight until the day of the draft, for whatever reason.

What usually happens in those cases is the team has already added key pieces during their losing stretch, then they "suddenly" turn it around.

Eagles are in the second year of a rebuild, sure, they went 9-8 against a weak schedule, Cincy went 10-7 against a weaker schedule.

The best FAs (solid starters or better in their mid-20s) all went for $15-20M, Eagles got one of them, even with loads of cap room, at best you can land 3, and probably overpay for one of them - the other FAs are older "names" who got overpaid relative to what they'll provide 2-3 years down the road.

Very true.  Sadly, Howie hasn't added much in the 'key pieces' department in a very long time.

I don’t disagree but at least he lost his Nike and Beats deals, and will probably never get a major endorsement deal again

They don't have to sign their rookies until after that which will be a decent amount of cap with two or three first round picks. No matter how it breaks down or when, they are saving cap with the Cox moves for this season, not adding to it. Therefore restructuring Slay shouldn't have anything to do with Cox.

Fletch is back, SB!!!1!

How much?

16 and a 3rd for Hunter, not sure if that gets it done... Trade back 15 to low/mid 20's for day two and/or 2023 picks.
