With that in mind, this is a very interesting thread from Twitter and how quiet some of the local Philly journalists are on the important questions that haven't been asked.

Seeing as some of the local journos read here, maybe they can find some cojones and ask some tough questions for a change

I think this guy might be detached from reality. We have one of the toughest sports media markets, and plenty of people think our beats are too negative.

Indeed.  I'd love to hear someone ask just one of those questions.  it is too much of nicey nicey thing for me

Do we know if the 2023 crop of QBs are going to be better? I don't watch college ball so I usually just go here for info on them

There are a couple of questions I think are relevant asks. Certainly there has to be a question about Howie getting such a long contract extension

Lurie hasn’t spoken since it came out. He doesn’t really speak all that often.

Agree.  But I do think it's something worth asking about as the teams record under him has largely been average, and the FO have lost 3 very good personnel people in the past couple of years.

Absolutely. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t asked. This isn’t a market that shies away from hard questions. Lurie was asked about Howie when Doug was fired and was shocked it was even a question.

Well, just my two cents:

I’ve already said the big 3 QBs would never come to Philly because the market is a fishbowl; very little to do with Howie personally

They signed Reddick in FA because edge rush is the single biggest need on the team (other than QB)

Why other FA haven’t signed in Philly?  Not sure, but I don’t think we need a GM whose goal is to outbid everyone in FA

The Hurts question is a valid one.  The media is very light on him and he’s a bit of a darling to them, at least for now — while they still attack the previous QB who has been gone for more than a year now

You have avoided the question twice now.  I'll take that as, you'd rather play in KC if you were him.

That's an obvious answer. Money still talks. Look at Jacksonville as an example...

The other guy I mentioned similarly plays well in traffic, Knight. Looks like both should be available in the 6th and we have 3 I think picks. Replacements 1A and 1B for Howard. The Hurzy Gurzy Man

Three 5ths. One 6th.

Agree with the bolded - I personally think Hurts is a good guy, but there needs to be more questioning of him and the coaches with his play plateauing last year.  And some accountability externally for it

Not every player would choose money over a legit shot at a super bowl. And you don’t really know if the eagles did offer more. I’d rather not wildly overspend on a safety just to get him here. What I like about the reddick signing is that it seems he wants to be here, it’s not all about the Benjamin’s….I’d rather not follow Jacksonville when it comes to roster building

Money only speaks so loudly.  Some players want to win, and if the money is 'good', they will go to the better team... which he did.  And this team can't afford to overpay right now.  If they had the QB, then by all means do it, but they don't and more importantly, they seem to know they don't.

I've noticed a lot of fans outside of this forum are very light on him

We don't know what or if we even tried. Whitehead was another option. Who would you rather play for, Jets or the Eagles...

I didn't say spend wildly, just making the point that money has a lot of say. Jax sucks, in many ways. Meanwhile they landed a boat load of talent.

I think every Eagles fan should want Hurts to develop into a top-tier NFL QB, but most people who have watched with an analytical eye are pretty sure it’s not going to happen.  The odds are better than 50/50 at this point that Hurts will start in 2022 — for better or worse.

The real danger is extending him beyond that

And what will it get them? Another top 5 pick most likely. Have we learned nothing from the dream team days?

My point was, good players signed there because they paid... I'm sure those guys had other options.

Raiders but I'd say KC is not far behind.  Wouldn’t be crazy if someone said KC had the best group.

Right now?  Split money.
