The counter-point is neither of those teams has a chance in hell to be competitive this year. So why not just play the rookie right away? Or just go with Maroita who will be cheaper?

The risk for them, in a weird way, is Baker plays well and then there is pressure to re-sign him. Baker may be too good/have too much of a pedigree to be a true bridge QB.

Not sure baker succeeds in atlanta. Their oline is bottom 5 in the league. And they have minimal at WR. In Cleveland they had a solid-good oline his last two years. I’m with you i think they sign a veteran like mariota and draft a kid like willis.

Oh he is. For the record, Baker is certainly better than Hurts. It's just not enough of an upgrade to spend literally anything on.

Funny thing about Nick.  He could pass the ball.   Jalen?  More of a runner.   Nothing 'Folesian' about that.

Backup QB saving the season

Mayfield has an immature attitude and turns the ball over too much, which would lead me to be against the idea of the Eagles bringing him in.

As a pure football talent, however -- Mayfield is several levels above Hurts.

This is hilarious. Arthur Smith is the one who benched Mariota when he was OC. That was his first big move.

Jalen Hurts is better than Baker at this point.

No way

Sorry I disagree strongly here. Baker has a pedigree? He's a terrible 1st overall pick. His outlier year appears to be his one good year. Otherwise, he's thrown 14, 21, and 13 INTs, while never throwing more than 27 TDs in a season. Baker sucks. Sucks a little less than Hurts, but still sucks.

If the guys not ready you don't want to just throw him out there, especially if the roster isn't good. It's a weird situation but he's going to go somewhere, and the only teams left that need a QB at this point are the one's looking to draft someone.

I don't hate him as a person. In fact, I think he's a great dude from what we see publicly and hear about from teammates, coaches, etc. I do hate him as my QB1. I would love him as my QB2.

I think he'd be a better backup to another running QB like Jackson instead

This. When he came out I was one of the few on  that really didn’t like baker Mayfield. Main reason when was cause of his attitude. And it’s been a problem at this level. Talent wise he can be a solid starter in the league. But i wouldn’t want to deal with his emotional rollercoaster and attitude.

Yeah not a good sign lol

Nice addition for Josh Allen. Underrated receiver out of the backfield.

They should sign a Fournette or draft a Robinson.

Why does Matt Ryan look like he's 50?

This smells a bit like when they brought in Rivers, though Ryan probably plays more than just 1 season with them.  He did look cooked last year, but maybe he rebounds a bit on the Colts?  I think he plays max 3 more seasons then retires.  Colts should look to draft a QB either this draft or next.

Why not both?

I think seattle makes the most sense tbh. He has WRs there and Carroll seems like the guy who’d take a chance on him for a middle round pick if that’s what he goes for. I think atlanta signs mariota and let’s him start until whoever they draft is ready. I could see willis. Potentially someone like strong or Ridder in the second round for atlanta

Hurts in his first year as starter outperformed Baker last year.  Baker had a better team.

Baker is trash.  An ego that surpasses his talent and is just one of those Cutler/Winston type QBs that will make a ton of stupid throws/turnovers without a care in the world.

The word you're looking for is dbag.  That's what he is.  So is Kyler Murray.  When you have Rodgers overall talent and you're a dbag then it's more tolerable, but neither has anywhere near that talent.

Seems a little overkill no ? They would have their "big back" back with Fournette or Robinson, then Duke and Singletary.

I wasn't a fan of him going first overall, but Cleveland gonna Cleveland. My view on this is simple -- we know Hurts isn't the guy. Something like a conditional 4th for Baker at a reasonable price for one year? I'd be OK with it. Maybe...just maybe this gets him motivated and focused like when he walked-on in college. If he plays well, we bought cheap and can either re-sign or flip him. If he doesn't, we get out it with no further liability after one year (and maybe a comp pick if someone else signs him).

I don't see the point to running it back with someone we know isn't the guy. Might as well see if we can get lucky with a reclamation project since there is no long-term commitment. If nothing else, maybe he helps Smith and Watkins.

Fournette/Singletary/Duke is a nice backfield.

Baker was pretty awful last season and has none of the upside in terms of running the ball.  I think some of it was definitely related to his shoulder injury but part of it was his bad decision making.

There are a lot of teams that need a QB in a draft that has been talked about being very weak for QBs

Reports are that like Osweiler, the BROWNS may have to be the ones to throw in a pick with Mayfield for someone to take on his salary. 2023 7th and Reagor for Mayfield and a 2022 3rd?
