He hasn't said anything wrong yet. To be fair I think a lot of nfl players are likeable

Should we not draft a QB in this draft then the 2023 QB class should have more depth, though still lacking (for now, maybe someone pulls a "Burrow" and plants their flag to be the next elite QB) any can't miss prospects.

A list of some of the possible QBs for next draft:

Stroud, OSU - 6'3" 215, dual threat, good accuracy and can push the ball downfield

Young, Bama - 6' (maybe?) 194, has the luxury of playing with more overall elite talent (WR, OL, RB) than any other QB, put up great stats, but got rattled in the NCG.

Richardson, FLA - 6'4" 236, another dual threat type who can run with speed and power, but also has a cannon of an arm, still raw and needs work on his passing

Levis, UK - 6'3" 232 - Cannon of an arm and can throw deep or into tight windows, was his 1st season starting in SEC (66% comp, 24 TDs, 13 INTs) so see how/if he improves

Jerkovec, BC - 6'4" 225, had a fairly impressive 2020 for his 1st season starting, got hurt in Week 2 of 2021 and didn't come back til November and wasn't the same so see how he does in 2022

Armstrong, UVA - 6'2" 215, lefty, 5th year senior, got hurt at end of 2021 season, was 4th in FBS passing yards, see if he can keep building and improving

McCall, CCU - 6'3" 210, 2 year RS JR (in 2022) starter, 53 TDs to just 6 INTs, over 70% comp, 10.9 YPA, plays vs 'lesser' competition so question of how effective can he be vs top tier talent

McKee, Stan - 6'6" 228, 2021 was first season starting, started 10 games, 65% comp, 15 TDs to 7 INTs, struggled last 5 games of season (Cardinal went 0-5) with 4 TDs to 7 INTs and 17 sacks, strong arm capable of every NFL throw

I just don’t understand the allure that a lot of fans and media have for Hurts. He’s a likable guy but I can separate the person from the QB and he’s just not a good QB

It’s been very weird for me to watch people defend him with examples that aren’t qualities of a QB

Yeah -  I mean I get rooting for a likeable guy It would be the easiest and best thing for the Eagles and all the fans if he turned out to be a great QB, (but it aint happening)

I can even understand the rooting for him because of his race, and then there is the ANTI Wentz factor, he is almost the exact opposite of Wentz, so you have to factor that in as to why people like him and are wishcasting him to be a good QB.  But yeah it's a bit over the top with some.

It just isnt happening.

Add the Stanford kid to the list, although I'm not sure if the Eagles would want another QB who wears his religion on his sleeve.

Does this mean we’ve lost the record for dead cap hit for one player?

Damn, thought we’d have that one for awhile.

Unless Seattle wants him, is there a chance the Browns end up cutting Baker??

You think he is worth 35-40 mill a year? Hes on a 5th year option right now and a FA next year. Don't say he wont ask for that contract cause he will thinking its a cheap deal.

Only way Id take him is if the Browns give us draft picks to take on his contract. Would not touch him other then that, waste of a pick.

According to OTC, his cap hit is $18 million this year. I'm not guaranteeing anything beyond this year if I trade for him. It's a lottery ticket for a day 3 pick.

He's on his 5th year and it's fully guaranteed so it would be surprising. They can't even post June 1 him.

I can see it now

"QB FACTORY"  Howie  quipping "he is a former 1st rd pick, extremely high value"

MAYBE Carolina...

They would have to take his whole cap number as a dead cap hit. Might be better off to attach a day 3 pick like the Osweiler trade.

But they just gave away massive draft capital for Watson. Do they want to give away more draft capital to move Baker and his contract, or just eat the money and save some picks?

At this point 18m of cap space might be worth more to them than a day 3 pick.

They are going all in, probably would rather have that chunk of money than picks. At the worst I think they will be able to pick swap him.

There's a market for Mayfield; too many QB-needy teams.  Jimmy G still on the market as well, because the Niners' asking price is too high at the moment.

Eagles have three 5th round picks and two 6th round picks.  Howie can trade Hurts to SEA for a 3rd, trade a 5th for Mayfield, and profit

He is no lottery ticket. Lets be honest, he had a good team in Cleveland around him. Good running game, nice TEs, WRs etc and hasnt done a thing. Even the HC has been an impressive offensive play caller. Baker is a backup QB and not worth trading anything for unless they want to throw us a pick. They should know the deal, they pulled it on the Texans with Brock many years back.

I guess.

Reagor + a 6th for Mayfield + a 5th. Let's do it.

Not sure that is correct. I think if Baker is traded the two team split the cap hit when it involves a franchise tagged player. So we would take on 9 mill and the Browns would take on 9 mill. Im sure someone here might know for sure if that is the case or not.
