Maybe I am an optimist but I don't think a 2 year deal precludes them from drafting DE. I don't think it means anything about moving up for a QB.  I just thinks it fills an obvious hole with an experienced starter for what hopefully is a cheap deal.

And a guy who is more likely to be penalized than make the score sheet for a positive.

Over/Under on total unsportsmanlikes for his 2 year contract, 10.  How many are after the play vs how many are to a player who is 40 yards away from the ball?

This FA process might be a bit of a wake up call for him especially if it turns out to (hopefully) be a bargain deal.

We can pretty much draft whatever we want. Resigning these guys changes nothing except protecting against reaching in the draft.

Could draft something like:

Jermaine Johnson

Devonte Wyatt

Andrew Booth

Alec Pierce

Nick Cross

Channing Tindall

Charlie Kolar

Zach Tom

Abram Smith

Matt Araiza

Fills in all those holes.

I personally love the riddler playing multiple positions on the eagles

And already counts 7.2 million dead against the cap.

Yup, that was last year's head scratcher... but hey, we had flexibility and rolled that money over from last year.  Now this two year deal likely includes a void year at the end as well, so we can stretch out the pain a little extra.

I think we draft Davis or Wyatt for sure

To me this may indicate they plan to still take Ojabo knowing he's gonna have a redshirt season.

Was on a conference call and this BS happens. I know it is likely on the cheap. I know it doesn’t mean we won’t draft a DE. I know that if his name wasn’t Derek Barnett I might like it.

But screw that. I am just livid. Was so happy to be done with his penalties and idiocy.

The Blog did not disappoint.

Hopefully there is incentive language that addresses the penalties.

All you people on here don’t like and want Barnett cause you are racist

What a headline

I want Barnett to be my worst Eagle but we still have JJAW and Reagor 🥲

While the Blog is all lathered up, head over to Spotrac and look at Brandon Graham’s dead money if he’s released after the 2022 season…

The Eagles viewed it as Howie can never admit that he's made a draft pick. Which is why JJAW is still here, why Reagor is still here. That's the only reason Barnett is back.

He tries to play off his connection to players as sentimentality and relational when the reality the attachment is driven by egoism.

18.3 million is what OTC has.

Howie to the last piece of his 2017 draft class:

Here's your holes filled (and would definitely be reordered for some of those positions):

True yet graham flashed at times and after his Injury and a position switch he showed improvement, his 5th year better than his 4th his 6th better than his 5 the and so on, not to mention graham isn't a penalty waiting to happen.

Barnett has got worse every year since his rookie year, not sure the thinking in the signing him, seems like a bit of wishful thinking by Howie.

But hey maybe not getting even a sniff on the open market motivates him and he comes out more focused and shows out, doubtful but who knows 🤷‍♂️

Cox & Graham are going to be about 30M in dead cap in 2023. Hargrave will also have a dead cap of 12M if he doesn't get extended. Kelce's is more complicated because of retirement.
2023 should be the last year with a lot of dead money pain.
