Derek Barnett led all DE's last year playing 64% of snaps (second was Sweat at 58%). Even with Graham playing, Barnett was still get the most snaps out of DE's. Where's this false narrative coming from that now, for some reason, Barnett is playing the "Ryan Kerrigan" role and will be 4th in line?

Depends on his contract. Barnett may only get run downs as of now.

Depends on how much Barnett was paid.  The money Howie gives out rules all when it comes to playing time.

I'd rather rip the bandaid off now and work on the future. We may squeak into the playoffs because of the expanded wildcard but we're just going to be one and done

The FO just needs to rip off the most obvious band aid.

Barnett. :chair:  Bad Howie.  Heard about that while driving home from date night with my wife.  We had just spent a few hours at a winery sipping wine and making bonsai.  Howie is lucky that I wasn’t around him with the pruning scissors or he would be a soprano.  Has HE drecovered?

And yet here we are still with hurts

Ward signed a minimum contract with zero guaranteed money. Why bother waiting to sign him to that deal?

As for Scott and Barnett, we really have no idea if they were being pursued. I know you’re going off a lack of report, but that doesn’t mean teams weren’t sniffing around. I think we can surmise that the interest wasn’t heavy however. That’s a fair assessment.

My guess is they like Ward’s work ethic and leadership and with the expanded roster see value in that for the OTAs and TC.   Quite possible he doesn’t survive on the roster coming out of TC although he may be a PS candidate.  Low cost, high reward.

At this point, I like Scott better than Huntley.  Lower cost at a position of need even if they draft a RB, which is a must.  Doubt other options would be so cheap.  I believe they told most of the free agents, check the market and get back with us and the deals were based on market response.

Bailey Zappe isn’t talked about enough. He is going to be a steal in later rounds.

Meh. He's 6 foot and has a below average arm.

I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him, because he's accurate and I think he could be okay, but I wouldn't call him a steal.

There are people in this blog that think Barnett is bad against the run😅

So after an evening to process the anger over Barnett (I really didn't want to ever watch that guy again), here's some things it MIGHT mean.

1. The team really is in love with Ojabo and plan to take him in the 1st and redshirt him. Barnett's contract is likely really a 1+1 that we can get out of next year.

2. The Eagles are going to go DT (Davis, Wyatt) in round 1 instead of DE

3. They are filling holes because we are going QB in round 1

Maybe it's all wishful thinking, but those are the best justifications I got. If we actually used all 3 1sts and got Davis, Ojabo and QB, I'd take it.

See the source image

I'd be pleased with this. Got a 2023 1st from DET as well.

If either Wyatt or Davis fall to us I'm assuming we're 100% taking one of them. With the way mocks have been trending lately, I wouldn't doubt it if re-signing Barnett wasn't a contingency on there being a run of DE's in the Top 15 on top of Ojabo getting injured. I agree that he'll be on a favorable contract for us since we brought him back with no open market interest. If Ojabo didn't get injured it would be hard to believe that at least one of the top DE's wasn't there at 15.

Pretty even. 53% - 47% in favor of "no”.

That’s a pretty wild conclusion to jump to based on what you bolded.

Players want X dollars. The team wants to pay Y dollars.

Here is a question to which I don't know the answer. A well regarded player has a choice between the Jets and Chiefs. Would he require the same $$ from either club? One club has routinely in the Super Bowl conversation, the other routinely in the 1st overall pick of the draft. I would think a player would rather play for the former team. "If I'm gonna play for a team that loses most weeks, I want more $$ to help dull the pain".  I don't know if it works like that in the real world or not. And I imagine it varies by player.

I think Sweat is always going to be on a pitch count, whether he takes a leap or not. Let's see if they are able to land a pass rusher instead of opting for a Shareef Miller in the 4th round. If anyone is going to be playing the Ryan Kerrigan role, it's Brandon Graham.

Unless the first 14 picks are all pass rushers and they're gone by the Eagles pick, they must pick one with one of their 1sts.  It's the #1 need on defense.

Twitter is more Hurts friendly.  Tons more morons/sheep on Twitter than in here.  Only a select few in here.

People here are even more positive than that, we had some polls.

It’s just that the ones who don’t like Hurts post like crazy in a never ending circle jerk.
