So after an evening to process the anger over Barnett (I really didn't want to ever watch that guy again), here's some things it MIGHT mean.

1. The team really is in love with Ojabo and plan to take him in the 1st and redshirt him. Barnett's contract is likely really a 1+1 that we can get out of next year.

2. The Eagles are going to go DT (Davis, Wyatt) in round 1 instead of DE

3. They are filling holes because we are going QB in round 1

Maybe it's all wishful thinking, but those are the best justifications I got. If we actually used all 3 1sts and got Davis, Ojabo and QB, I'd take it.

Completely agree though I think they may go WR or QB. I think they go QB/WR...DT...Ojabo.

People here are even more positive than that, we had some polls.

It’s just that the ones who don’t like Hurts post like crazy in a never ending circle jerk.

I'm only on facebook for social media but that place has some strong Hurts defenders and they post a lot. There's also the Wentz hater that post a lot but that's another topic

Facebook Eagles groups are the worst.  rtk and bacarty would actually be good posters in those groups.

I don’t use facebook/twitter/snap etc. I know bleacher report so I see the few interesting tweets and that is good enough for me.

I prefer my silly online arguments in an classic online forum I guess..

Honestly social media (and big data to some extend) are a big cancer for society and youth today. Damn just writing that makes me feel old. But it’s true.

What if anything does anyone know about Cole Strange?  They say one of the most important drills for IOL is the broad jump.  Right around 110 inches is really really good and what Jason Kelce put up back in the day.  This year only 2 people who beat that.  Zion Johnson at 112 inches and then Cole Strange who was 120 inches..  He also put up 31 reps on the bench a 5.03 40 and a solid 3 cone and 20 yd shuttle.

Any Villanova fans?  Next up for my Coogs.

Wanting sustainable QB play for the team we spend so much time talking about isn’t "hatred” and it certainly isn’t racial bias. No one "hates” Hurts. He just isn’t good enough at playing QB in the NFL. I wish him all the best in his life, but that doesn’t mean I want to keep watching him. Just like with Wentz, and Bradford and Kevin Kolb. When QBs aren’t good enough, I want them replaced. It’s really that simple. Some of you guys make it way too personal. I’m sure Derek Barnett is a nice guy too.

Yep.  Race has nothing to do with it.  Are all the white fans reverse racists for hammering on Nate Gerry and Sean Considine ??

What indications are those? And have they really tried that hard to get someone else in?

Set aside what we can't know about what they think.  Do you think any of the FO, coaching staff will be with the team if Hurts plays at the same level he did last season over the next 3 seasons? Do you think Hurts is at the same level as Herbert, Burrow, Murray or Allen? Do you think he has shown the potential to be at their level?

I don't think they object to giving Hurts a season to reach his potential.  I don't think they are banking his potential. If they do and just stick with him, they will all be gone because he's not talented enough to make the team a contender.

One colossal thing people overlook with trading for future picks: WHO’S PICK IS IT?

The Detroit lions 2023 first rounder is an AMAZING get. Both Cousins AND Rodgers coming back? That’s a top 10 pick easy. Bravo.

Hmm, unless Hutchinson falls HARD, I think this is the only player I’d move up for. I’m luke warm on Thibodeaux… something feels not quite right about him.

I'd move up for Hutch, Walker or Gardner. Thibodeaux's work ethic sucks.

Its also unrealistic since the website doesnt think of it that way when allowing it to be accepted. Now it could be the Rams 2023 first rounder that the Lions own and would be at least be more realistic. So if it is the Rams pick would you still think its AMAZING?

Id also like to say the Lions have already said they want to move out of pick 2 if possible. Why would they want to move up from 32 to 15? I don't think its very realistic there esp when many have said the difference between the talent from the mid first to the 2nd is not big.

And that proves what exactly?

Awesome.  Let Him Slide

It proves that he’s still QB1 for the foreseeable future.

surely if we wanted one that badly they’d be here by now?

Yep. All it took was 1 team and 2 QB's to say "No" to get here.

The Athletic. Berman (good reporter) and Wulf (needs upgrading) scoring the Barnett signing.  Won’t burden the Blog with Wulf but Berman nailed it:

Grade (on a scale of NFL penalties): Delay of game. It’s not the worst penalty you can commit, but it’s a frustrating one and it could have been avoided. There was a lack of discipline in the mechanics of getting the play off on time. You might have had a great play drawn up, but you didn’t show it. Pushed back 5 yards, you can still call that play, but you’re not in a better spot. Perhaps the next play will be so good that you’ll forget the penalty occurred, but it could also leave you punting and trying to rationalize what happened.

Kid can't play. It's not any more complicated than that.

Hamilton.  Best player in the draft.

Yep. Hoping he falls with the Jets signing a safety in FA.

I can't see the Eagles drafting Hamilton. Not that they shouldn't, just that they won't.

The Eagles entered the offseason with 4 basic courses of action at QB:

1)  Stick with Hurts for one more season; this has always been a 50/50 or more likelihood of happening

2)  Acquire Watson/Wilson/Rodgers.  Was never going to happen, for reasons I've given my opinion on previously

3)  Acquire a lower-tier available option at QB.  This includes lumping in options like Jimmy G, Cousins, Goff, Carr, etc. who would represent a moderate upgrade, but costly both in salary and picks

4) Draft a QB (probably in the 1st round).  To be determined.

Option 2 was a fairy tale, Option 3 was a course of action the Eagles didn't feel was worthwhile when comparing the degree of upgrade to the costs associated.  Option 4 will depend on Howie and Nick's evaluation of the prospects.  Their actions on draft weekend will show whether Option 1 or 4 will be the way forward

Sounds like that Watson press conference was a real trainwreck.

I listened to it and didn't come away with that impression.  Berry explained it was a 5-month long process of vetting Watson through various conversations, Watson answered all of the questions asked according to the script -- 'didn't do anything wrong, he respects women and has a mother and older sisters as examples, can't say too much because of ongoing investigations', etc.

Nothing was said that shouldn't have been expected.
