Possibly an eagles fan. Only reason someone wants to come here to play right now.

Sign Mathieu and Nelson.

Draft the other safety, and some DL talent and this defense is legit.

They have a Nelson clone in McPhearson and a Matthieu clone in Vincent.  Yes, Nelson and Matthieu have performed in the NFL but age is a factor on a rebuilding team.  Would be third contract for both. Doesn’t fit on a rebuilding team.   I say, let the youngsters play.  Reddick > Avery.  White slightly > Singleton (better coverage skills) and battles Taylor for the starting WIL type MIKE.  Both have had injury issues.   Hopefully Johnson takes a step towards being a Reddick back up at the Elephant/SAM.   But Bradley and Edwards as traditional MIKEs scream for an upgrade in the draft.  Don’t get me wrong, I love Edwards football IQ and instincts. But I would love a good sized MIKE that can take on Gs.

nah. If we can get those proven guys in on short term deals we can be a good team this year.

The only weakness would be Hurts. Trade for Foles and we improve there too.

I have a feeling they get Nelson after he whiffs at a long term deal like last year. They gave him that 385K bonus at EOY altho he was just short in percentage of snaps. And made him feel appreciated. Give him a small raise and you can have him for under 5 million with bonuses. Can't see anyone splurging for more than that at this point.

I agree. I think the only problem is we know we should be drafting a CB in round 1. So this has to be an after the draft move (if we whiff on CBs) Or it has to be structured somehow with little to no dead money.

I dont think you can sign Nelson and tell him he is a backup. He will want out right away. And you certainly dont want to land Booth or even Elam and sit them on the bench for Nelson. So if you sign him now, you have to have the flexibility to grant him his release after you draft one in round 1.

I feel for Gonzaga fans...Ar-kansas was the better team going into the match up and was the better team through out the game as well.  Gonzaga is the anti Boise State of CFB yesteryear.  Pattycake schedule generates hype...they just can't compete against real teams.

So a team that has been to the championship game twice in the past six years can't compete against real teams? I find that statement ridiculous.  Bottom line is it is tough winning six game in a row in a tournament.  One bad shooting night and a team is done.

Taylor had some flashes prior to the injury last year. If he continues to develop we may actually, finally, have a not-terrible LB corp.

It's not. But better than nothing.  If he plays well gives us an inside track at re-signing him.

Incentives and prove that last year wasn’t a fluke contract. Good for both.

So, Gannon's D needs LBs. And he got 2 in free agency. It also simultaneously improved the pass rush.

We should have a good opportunity to do a fair assessment of his defense this season. But thats another solid reason for Howie to bring in Mathieu. We cant upgrade LBs, and downgrade secondary.

Size and speed wise. Similar styles at S at LSU. Vincent demonstrated good instincts and angles at LSU as nickel and S.   Give the kid a chance and also draft a S high.

But do we want to be only a good team this year or build a defense that holds up year to year?    No need to trade for Foles, he will be cut at some point.

With a good FA signing at corner, and knocking it out of the park with the first 4 picks, QB1 could quickly become the worst position on the team.

I want to be good this year, and draft guys who will take over in the future.

Kary Vincent is far from ready to be penciled in as a starter at S.

Sign Mathieu, draft the other starter. When Mathieu's contract is up you have the draft selection, and Vincent ready to take over.

No worries - Minshew is only the backup QB

White is a good signing, they have a younger player with similar characteristics in Stevens, and Taylor has upside if he can stay healthy.

So they can revisit WLB at the end of the season. Though I expect them to draft at least one LB in April.

I had a pretty close prediction on this offseason so far.

Juju became Paschal.

Called Reddick and White.

Just need Mathieu and re-sign Nelson.

The one-year deal was probably White’s choosing because he didn’t get the multi-year offers he wanted.

Maybe he's giving the franchise a tryout.  If we look to be legitimate contender after a year, then he may decide to stay.

Right now, QB1 and WR2 are the weakest spots.
