A pretty new Velus Jones highlight video. Id really like to have this guy to finally fix our issue with returns.

No worries, we have Reagor, Scott and Ward.  No holes there.

Shhh... facts don't change the narrative.

very brand new highlight video of Mafe

I just watched it and noticed that in all of his big plays, he never had his hand in the ground. He can probably be disregarded as an eagles draft prospect since he is deployed in the exact same way Reddick will be. No need to draft a 1st rounder for that role when you just signed a big free agent deal for one.

I am very, very interested in Cameron Thomas. Hes a hand in the ground guy with prototypical size, excellent burst. And most of all very excellent hand usage which a lot of college guys struggle with. Its been said he has better hand usage than even Hutchinson who will possibly go 1st overall.

Anyway, here are Mafe's highlights. Gotta love him. But probably not an eagle target.

I love how that dude spews his nonsense as facts when it is so easy to google the actual facts.

Always best to deal with people in love.  Good on you.

I can see Mafe being one of our selections in the first.
I was super high on Thomas a few months back but cooled some after seeing his average athleticism. But he could be one of those guys with a relentless motor and work ethic who's an overachiever and has a good career. He has good size too.

Not a fan.  Not explosive or dynamic.  Best suited to put on some lbs and be a 3-4 DE.

Wrong

best suited to drop 10-15 and be a pure DE. He played lighter last year but also wasnt getting double and triple teamed

Refs are jobbing the sixers second half…

What a Final 4.  Holy Hell.  3 Blue Bloods and Villanova.  UNC has been underrated most of the year.  I still don’t see them beating Duke next week.  But man.  UNC/Duke match up in the tournament for the first time ever.  K’s last season as well.  Hell of a story.

UNC has won 2 Natty’s in New Orleans.

helluva a run by Carolina

I assume you're in a state where hallucinogenics are legal

Don't play the semantics game, please.  You are too good for that.  Having bodies at a position does not mean the position is filled and doesn't leave a hole.   The Eagles had Jamon Brown on the roster, but when the time came for him to play, he was as good as playing with 4 OL instead of 5.  That backup position was a hole, even though there was a name on the roster and there was a person who kept stuff in one of the lockers.

They have not invested in the safety position since they signed McLeod as a free agent from St. Louis.  They invested in Jenkins when he left NO.  But, they really haven't made any type of investment at S in quite some time.   Late round draft picks used and traded for guys with no pedigree isn't investing, that's a lottery ticket price.  They spent a dollar to try to hit it big, they didn't invest in a long term solution.

Safety is every bit the hole it was when they finished the season last year.  Nothing has happened since then to improve it, and watching the defense last year... we saw how big that hole really was, as did opposing QBs.

So who would you sign of the remaining free agents that could start, improve the roster and what would be the dollar limit, duration and guarantee limit. With consideration to what is kicked down the road because of what is needed for the rookie pool and needed against injury.  Only two free agent safeties this year that I would have considered can kicking money for were Bates (tagged) and Williams.   KC overpaid for Reid. Maye meh.  Matthieu?  If KC paid what they did for Reid, you can imagine his price tag is too high.

Not really playing semantics but this is year two of a rebuild that has barely started on the defense.  Hurts is our starting QB this year.  Not all positions will be filled well this year.  Heck, we have rented a WIL, a S and a DT this offseason because of holes.  If Howie fails again to draft a high level S prospect, well that is one more reason why he should be fired.  (I know it isn’t happening but a man can dream.) But if that happens, consider going into the season with Harris, Epps, Vincent and Wallace as the Ss. And if Epps, Vincent and Wallace outperform Harris in camp, cut him and keep Chachere. Not ideal but then again, I like the chance Vincent is a solid FS more than others on here.

He’s in a state of confusion.

I'd be much more surprised if they won 11 then if they won only 6.  2017 was the only 11-win season in Howie's entire tenure

I'm saying if you told me they won either 11 games next OR they won 6 then I'd bet the answer was 6.

That’s not the part I was confused about. They went 13-3 in 2017.

No one, but I also wouldn't declare the position filled, or that it's not a hole per se.  It is a cavern of a position.  Harris is wasting a roster spot.  There was no reason to bring him back, I'd rather just roll with the young guys.   This defensive disaster of a roster can't be fixed in a year.  But that doesn't mean that anyone should downplay the shortcomings. They still have a massive hole at S - both spots.  Harris doesn't fill a spot, he fills a uniform.  Maybe the young guys can prove us all wrong, but that's a long shot.
