Some unexciting basketball today.  Hopefully some fireworks in the final 4 and as much as I'd love Nova/UNC final, it's gonna be Duke/Kansas.

Okay these beers are hitting harder than I thought. Apologies for the oversight everyone. Carry on.

If Kansas wins and the total score is more than 143 than my 3rd bracket is a winner.  Which would net about $500.  Only issue, that’s the bracket my wife filled out.

my only true win this year was calling Arkansas beating Gonzaga.  I had Baylor/Arizona.

So you see.  We won more than 11 in 2017.  11 was used because that’s RTK prediction.

10-4

Who's on first?

What?

If Hurts gets this team to the playoffs again I don't think there is going to be much of a reason to move on from him as QB.

That’s the worst case scenario. Coming up on the end of his rookie deal after the following year, I don’t want to get married. Even if we make the playoffs, it’s likely going to be in spite of Hurts though.

I don't know.

Here is a Karlaftis video.

He doesnt look unathletic. He has good initial burst, and changes direction well for his size.

I understand a bit, the comparison to Barnett. He has tons of hits and hurries with less sacks than youd like.  But youd have to say hes a better version of Barnett. He is bigger, stronger, faster. Has a better shot at developing in to something in the NFL. And is most likely more productive right away, than Barnett has been even with years of experience.

Karlaftis is not my guy. I wont love the pick if they make it. But, I dont think itll be bad like I knew the Barnett pick would be.

How did I end up on third base?!

Even if Hurts takes this team back to the playoffs and wins a playoff game he won't be the type demanding a massive new contract heading into that final year of his deal.  I doubt he will suddenly feel like he is the landlord and the rent is due to him.

That’s not the part I was confused about. They went 13-3 in 2017.

I meant at least 11 games. That was the only year they won 11 or more

Yep, got it now. Had 5 people clear that up for my drunken brain.

Yeah, he’s just so damn likable that he won’t even want money. He can pay his bills in swagger.

I see another season around 9-8.  The schedule looks rather cream-puffy right now, and the Eagles roster shapes up about the same.  Reddick will help but might not win any games on his own.  Graham might have one more good season left in him.

DAL is a bit weaker, WASH will be better, Giants still suck and will still be last place again.  Teams will adjust to Hurts not throwing and will plan to shut down his run lanes.  Don’t be fooled by his numbers after his ankle injury; as long as his legs are healthy he will go back to running >30% rate.

Missing the playoffs or putting up another 0 points in the wildcard game until it’s out of reach will close the book on Hurts in Philly

It’s a shame we can’t extend Devonta after next season, because his production, and all the WRs’ production,  will suffer again. I don’t know if I can watch that another year.

No one, but I also wouldn't declare the position filled, or that it's not a hole per se.  It is a cavern of a position.  Harris is wasting a roster spot.  There was no reason to bring him back, I'd rather just roll with the young guys.   This defensive disaster of a roster can't be fixed in a year.  But that doesn't mean that anyone should downplay the shortcomings. They still have a massive hole at S - both spots.  Harris doesn't fill a spot, he fills a uniform.  Maybe the young guys can prove us all wrong, but that's a long shot.

We are pretty close in agreement.  I just have a bit more hope about Vincent than you do.  Howie has Fd the defensive side of the roster so bad and I have little confidence in his ability to fix it in the remaining two years of the rebuild.  Couple that his Ravens level ability on drafting WRs and I can’t for the life of me understand why Lurie gave him an extension of three years.

I’m still confused by this narrative.  I don’t really like him at all.  He’s done nothing to make me like him except behave off the field.  That’s not enough.  His cliche book collection must be massive though!

I'm sure he would enter and sign an new contract if offered but if one wasn't offered heading into his final year he wouldn't make some issue out of it like Murray seems to be doing.

Vincent has given no one any reason to have any hope yet.  He's smaller than ideal and he hasnt done anything in the pros yet.

please read the comment you made that I responded to

I did, I wrote it. Weakest is relative. Every QB who makes it into the NFL, much less earns a starting spot which the comment is about, is among the strongest throwers of the football alive.

Saying the poorest billionaire does not make him poor.

Relativity, not hyperbole

It is.  So yes, it’s weak.   His throws lack zip.

I wouldn’t go that far, he has enough zip to beat defenses to 7 super bowl championships. Something’s going right with that shoulder
