Who am I thinking of?   Oh well, either way, UT-Chattanooga isn't exactly a powerhouse school.

Obviously, Mike Caldwell former Eagle LB, coach and current JAX defensive coordinator - good recall... impressed.

Someone made a point the other day that all of Mafe’s big plays were him standing up, not hands in the dirt. Wonder if that impacts how he’s viewed by the Eagles.

Otherwise I like this.

It's a fools errand to simply pass on a player due to the conference they played in.  Are there more elite players in the SEC and BIG10 and even the ACC, BIG12, and PAC10 than there are in the other conferences?  Sure there are.  But there are players from those smaller conferences/schools who can and have translated to the NFL.

Here's an example.  Out of the top receivers by number of receptions this past season, 4 of the top 6 came from these smaller conferences you belittle:

Cooper Kupp, Eastern Washington

Davante Adams, Fresno St.

Tyreek Hill, West Alabama

Diontae Johnson, Toledo

I'm not going to dig deeper and do all the other positions, but this is good sample to show that you can't simply dismiss a player due to what conference/school they come from.  There's enough diamonds in the rough out there every draft.  Sure, the SEC kids are usually the safer picks and the small conference/school players are more boom/bust and riskier, but they do exist.

Ignoring any player because of what school he went to is extremely short sighted.  There are always some greats that aren't discovered when they are 18 years old.  That's how scouts earn their keep... finding the players that no one else has seen.

Except never draft Ohio State QBs. Ever.

You lost me after Hamilton (and #2 is too high for him)

Did you miss the part where I said I wasn’t good at mocks? 😂

And not that it matters, but I was trying to get Hutchison. The Jags took him in my mock, though. Then again, I probably shouldn’t have traded up to the second pick in the first place.

Yeah if you’re targeting one specific player who gets taken at #1 you don’t trade up to #2 knowing that.

Under 750 hours to go. Around 747 at the moment. We should be on the clock in about 749.

I think you're right that the team is better off staying with Hurts over any of the rookie QBs.    I don't think it's likely Hurts progresses to the point of top 10 starter to the point where the team contends because of him.  Ultimately, if he doesn't progress the problem fixes itself.  The team will move on from him.  The question of moving on is highly dependent on having a better replacement option.    QB is no different than any other position in the sense the team should always be looking to keep good talent and move on from talent that's not good enough.

I would go with Carson Strong over Hurts in a heart beat.  Draft Strong in Round 2, deal Hurts for whatever you can get and roll with Minshew until you are confident in Strong.

I traded up to #2 before the draft started. In prior mocks, Hutchison was going to the Lions, so I took a shot. When he went first, I took Hamilton because he was the next highest ranked and fit a need. Either way, I shouldn’t have traded up.

Chris Simms' top 5 WRs:

1. Jameson Williams
2. Christian Watson !!!
3. Alec Pierece !!!? (I have a feeling Nicolas will love this guy)
4. Treylon Burks
5. Drake London

He says the list was well-received by people he talks to in the NFL.

I really hope FOX doesn't roll with Olsen for color. He's great for breaking down the game, but he doesn't feel like a #1 team guy.

Surprised that Wilson didn’t crack the top 5. I would have him right after Jameson.

These mock drafts are pretty addictive

Olave and Wilson out… I guess polish can be earned in the pros.

There's something about Wilson that I love, but I can't quite put my finger on it. He's just smooth. He doesn't amaze me though, so I understand not having him ranked so high too. He does like Wilson, he likes Olave more though. Simms is a big physical traits guy. Speed, size, athleticism before polish and technique.

Was just thinking about TC drills between Jordan Mailata and Jordan Davis if we land him. Must see TV.

Man, remember the days of Lehigh with Hugh Douglas and Trent Cole battling the o-line...hell, even watching them on TC Live.
