I never even understood what this lawsuit was for.  Why does he owe her any money?

It's possible there is a support claim. He's not listed as her father on her birth certificate.  She wants him to acknowledge her as a child. Being acknowledged through a proceeding or actions is necessary to establish rights she may have as next of kin.  Those rights could include money from his estate that is paid to next of kin.  So he may not owe her anything other than an acknowledgment that he is her father. If he is her father, then he is a crap bag for not acknowledging her.

Overvaluing his own and kicking the can.

Just so Howie can feel good about the 2018 draft class after whiffing entirely on 2017.

And when we cut him after the 2024 season we’ll take on more than $7M in deadcap.

Isnt is possible he develops as a playmaking nickel CB and is actually worth the money in that year rather than cutting him? He was starting to look pretty good last year. Wonder if he can take yet another step this year.

I’m talking about Barnett

So, we are clear... he's a crap bag either way.  The only question is the degree of crap bag.

I don't think any of it. All the Wentz dead money was last year.

That was my point. Its not a wentz problem its a howie problem

Yup.  4 second contracts.  Whoooooo!!!

Same old same old doesn’t apply. That’s what I’m saying. As a third or fourth guy off the bench Barnett is fine. But you didn’t specify.

I believe this is in reference to bringing back Barnett, not Reddick.

Oh my god. four players who can play in a single draft. The horror, the horror!

yes but Key instead of Barnett would have been better.

Howie hating is over the top in this thread, but the Barnett signing is a kick in the balls even to his 3rd biggest fan in the world.

It absolutely applies in regards to Barnett, the most penalized DL on this roster.  And as a reserve, you can't have a guy more likely to get penalized than make a play.  Barnett is far from fine, he's generally brain dead on the field.

The Mailata contract makes up for it but it's an overpay.  It's hard to say how the Sweat contract will play out but I am fine with that deal because of the position.  The real issue is the evaluation of the talent on the roster.

3 and a half would be more appropriate.  Its not about that draft, its about the PR spin because of the disaster that was 2017.

Yup

Not sure how same old same old would apply to Reddick but not Barnett. Barnetts been here 5 years. They know what he is and it’s Howie just doing what he knows, signing the same old players from prior years. Sure, he’s "fine” as a backup DE, but I’d prefer taking a risk once in awhile. Key would have been equally fine and could possibly offer some upside.

The 2018 draft was a great draft aside from probably Dillard. The question is whether Howie can fairly evaluate the talent without tying his ego to the fate of the players.  It's a lack of objectivity in evaluating the talent.

4th DE in the rotation is the place to take some risk, especially in comparison to the risk already inherent in bringing back Barnett.

Part of the reason I feel 2017 was so successful. Graham, Long, Bradham, Robinson, Blount, Smith. Some had familiarity with Shwartz but all relatively new to Howie. And all were better options than dipping into the known well like Logan, Matthews, Carroll etc. Getting "fine” players is ok but you could also try to get some with upside

Ajayi as well.

I remember this one…

Key is an undersized pass rusher who hasn't started a NFL game in three years, he had 6.5 sacks and 17 QB hits last year as a pass rush specialist.

Started 10 games as a rookie, 30 tackles 1 sack, 4 TFL, 11 QB hits.

So he's competing with Kearse and Reddick, not Barnett, b/c he can't step in if Graham or Williams is injured and they need someone to play on run downs.

And it's easier to draft pass rush specialists (undersized athletic DEs) in the middle rounds than 3 down DEs.

As far as Maddox, a key player in Gannon's defense is the NCB, Moore in Indy got a 4yr/$33M extension with $9M guaranteed.

Which is why they traded a 6th for Scott, then extended Maddox once he showed he fit that role and gave him a lot less money than Moore.
